This is the first round of this heat. Each contestant needs to appeal (in this topic). To do that simply choose in between 2 and 5 moves that your Pokémon knows, and with as much description as possible, present the appeal before three judges (who will be moderators not involved in this battle). They will then give each participant a score out of 10, and it can move to the second round.

Appeal with whichever Pokémon you wish.

Ewan hesitated, slightly nervous before the crowd. He gripped his PokéBall before sending out his Pokémon, a Pichu.

"Pichu! Use the Sweet Kiss/ Charm combo, then proceed with a Tail Whip before finishing with the electric move we have been practicing," he said.

Pichu nodded before beginning the appeal. He sent out hearts and a kiss towards the audience, his cuteness undeniable. He winked before jumping up, and facing the audience and judges, he waggled his bottom cheekily. Finally, he leapt even higher, before charging a Thundershock/ Wave and illuminating himself and the arena.

[That is probably a bad example of how to appeal, but I didn't want him beating you all! ^^]

Voya Blake, after watching the almost pathetic display of the trainer before her, could not help but feel her confidence soar. Sure, she was new to the whole co-ordination thing. Sure, she was up against a damn fine co-ordinator. And sure, she...well. She was something, that was sure.

It was with an air of confidence that Voya moved across to the stage, calling forth Tethys, her Ralts, from her Pokeball. The psychic Pokemon appeared beside her in a flash of red light, and at a gentle probing from Voya turned to look at the crowd. Abandoning her Ralts to the center stage, the breeder moved back so that all eyes could be focused on the Pokemon. Off to the side, Voya allowed her mind to connect with Tethys'.

<Concentrate, girl. We've got this. Shockwave, Confusion, Growl, and a final Shockwave.> Voya was slightly annoyed that Tethys didn't know Teleport. She'd thought it would make a good ending to the show. But that couldn't be helped now. She waited, watching to see what her Pokemon would do with the less-than-specific instructions she'd been given.

Tethys didn't use any visible signal to show that she understood. Instead she just started. The first thing to do was the electric attack. Focusing on the lights in the arena, Tethys took a moment to set them in her mind before acting. And then, all at once, a hoard of electricity was sent forth from her body, sparks flying in every direction to hit the lights. The electricity caused the lights to short circuit, flickering and wavering before going black. The arena was left in darkness. She moved on immediately.
Summoning the psychic energy deep within herself, she hesitated for just an instant before expelling her arms outwards, sending wave upon wave of psychic energy at the crowd in such a mass amount that she'd not only cause confusion, by maybe hysteria as well. It was done silently, without alerting the audience to what she was doing. After the audience was well and truly confused, Tethys allowed the silence to linger. By now they'd be squirming in their seats, no doubt wondering what was going on, why nothing was happening, why the lights were out. The weaker willed of them wouldn't know where they were even. It was just at the point when they were starting to titter amongst themselves that Tethys moved in for the climax of her show.
Bending her head, Ralts felt the voice inside of her growing. A sound began deep in the pit of her chest, starting of near-silent and slowly gaining strength. Her body vibrated with the low pitch of the voice, and at long last she opened her mouth and the Growl emitted, louder than the audience's chatter. It continued to grow, until at the end Tethys was almost snarling in ferocity, sounding more like a rabid animal than a true Pokemon. The spectator's confusion would only add to the terror of the darkness and growling. It's what Tethys had been going for. Her teeth were bared in the mimic of a snarl, and then suddenly it was quiet, her Growl fading away.
Now the last part. The ending. As before, Tethys focused her energy on the electric energy inside of her. She felt the sparks growing and building, until at last they fizzled from her body, shrouding the area immediately around her in a halo of light. There was just her, standing alone in the arena, and at that moment she lifted one hand over her head, the other across her stomach, and she bowed. The sparks fizzled and died, and she used the cover of darkness to slink off stage and over to her master's side.

Voya nodded in acknowledgment, recalling Tethys to her ball. No doubt they'd need a minute to fix the lights. The confusion would wear off by the time they got the lights back on, Voya was sure. The appeal hadn't been very showy, no. Psychic Pokemon weren't very physical. But, still, Voya smiled, proud of her Pokemon.

Geenween stared wordlessy at the first contestant. His had been a very good performance...

Ikaru and Neyra would have some problems to compete with such a trainer, the trainer considered, better try out the one than, even if low leveled, had a wider variety of moves: Sneasel.

The black Pokemon was released a bright flash of white light, her lithe, but muscular form landing with grace on the stage. Her deadly claws weren't in sight, as her species used them only when attacking or defending themselves.

Geenween moved behind her, and the sly eyes of the creature locked in hers for a second.

"Taunt." she spoke.

Sneasel positioned herself in front of the audience, her eyes focused on an imaginary opponent before her. She smirked as evilly as a dark Pokemon could do, sending a silent message to whoever was facing her I'm going to win, your pitiful attempts to sway my resolve won't save you.

In the wild, such a performance would have sent the opponent fuming, and provoked an angry row of damaging moves on Sneasel, but there was no Pokemon in front of her, so they were free to pass to the next step.

"Leer" was the next order.

Sneasel smiled wickedly, closing her eyelids for an instant, before reopening them, a frightening murderous glint in them. To add more supence to the moment, the dark creature let out a piercing screech, meant to amplify the terrifing look of those eyes.

"Scratch." was the last word.

Sneasel didn't asked for something better, her killer instict ready to make its entrance. Her hind paws bent slighlty, to give her the strenght to jump upwards and, with feline movements, to unleash her claws in mid-air.

The Pokemon 'weapons' shone with the lights of the bulding for a brief second, before coming down with all her might and diving them toward the floor.

Like in a battle, trainer and Pokemon had followed a pattern meant to use at the maximum Sneasel's capabilties: first, to make the opponent think only of taking them down, leaving its guard open. Second, startle it, making it hesitate to lay the next blow. Third, finish it with a blow on its most vulnerable point.

Geenween smiled, feeling satisfied with the performance. She made a sign to sneasel, who jumped backward and landed near her, then the two exited the stage, an human and a black shadow at her side.

Pretty but I wouldn't have used Sneasle.
Not enough moves that are showy.

Dragonfyre's Scores!

Ewan 1/10
Same as WMC, only I am generous. ^^

Geenween 8/10
Impressive. I think you did well with Sneasel's moves. I know that it is hard to present a good appeal when Pokémon is at a lower level, but you did it well.

Duck 9/10
Good appeal. I like the way you made the audience become a very close part of the appeal itself. You thought of more than the physical and made a unique appeal. The Shove Wave was a great touch to made it a onderful performance.

It was simplistic. If you want to do cute, you need to be a bit more creative than that.

Duck: 9/10
You certainly shook up the crowd! A very interesting combination too; it must have been tough to link up those moves. Doing it without a word added an extra touch.

Geenween: 7/10
Sneasel is a good pokemon, but basing the appeal on status-lowering moves doesn't work. Fear works, but there are other talents you can exploit.
