It was three o'clock in the morning and the Booby Trap was closing up shop. Last call had been about thirty minutes ago. Gaiana would have left earlier, but she'd offered to help some of the girls out of their outfits as some of them were a bit hard to get off and on. That and girls would be girls..They always liked to chat while they got undressed and ready to get off.

The girls walked a little ways before Gaiana realized she'd forgotten her loft key. Some of them offered to go back with her to get it, but she'd assured them that she would be fine. They hadn't gone far anyway and her loft wasn't too far away and shouldn't they be getting back to their families? It took a bit of convincing, but they all parted ways then. The blonde nymph went back to the strip club and grabbed her keys, depositing them into her purse.

A flowy sage green netted sweater flowed over a lavender tank and black jean pants. Her black high heeled sandals click-clacked on the cemented sidewalk as she walked from the club towards the building her loft was located in. It was about four blocks away. The night was warm and she was grateful that her sweater was just netted to provide a little warmth against the cool wind coming in from the ocean. This was Pasadena and it wasn't too far from the ocean.

All throughout her walk home, she could feel eyes on her, watching her. It was late, but there was still some activity out. She always felt as though there was someone watching her on her walks home, but she tended to ignore it. This time, it seemed a bit..malevolent? She wasn't sure if it was just someone watching her with interest or with something else on their mind. She gripped her purse closer to her, prepared to reach for the knife concealed inside should she need it as she walked.

Click, clack, click, clack..Whatever it was that was watching her, they'd soon find out that she wasn't just some helpless young woman to be preyed upon soon enough...

Cyrus had been stalking the dark ally’s for the majority of the night looking for a decent meal. Though he didn’t exactly need to feed tonight he had gone a good two weeks without a meal and was looking for an opportunity. Long past midnight he was beginning to lose his patience and his hopes of finding a quick and easy meal. Just as he was about to give up and call it a night however he heard the hopeful clicking of solitary heels echo through the ally. Red eyes peering through the darkness caught a glimpse of a young woman as she passed by the ally. Perhaps the night will not be a waste he thought to himself as he exited the ally clinging to the shadows as he followed her.

She appeared to be completely aloe tonight, perhaps walking home from a club or getting of a night shift. Either way she was by herself at night and Cyrus was looking for a meal. Though he couldn’t pick up the scent of fear on her he doubted it would be hard to get her frightened. He followed her for some time, watching closely. He noticed a confidence in her stride, almost graceful which he found rather odd for someone so young. As he watched he notice her attention shift, it was only slightly and Cyrus wondered if she was onto him. He ignored the thought however. No human would be that perceptive.

He quickly passed her darting through the shadows and waited in the next ally way for her to pass there he would strike and take his meal. He could hear the clicking of her heels getting louder as she approached. He waited patiently in the dark shifting into his human form as she moved past. When it was right he made his move. Quickly exiting from the dark ally he reached out and grabbed her right shoulder holding on with a firm grasp. With a quick get of his body he changed his momentum and using himself as a pivoted he swung her around and into the dark ally way. He released her and let the momentum carry her as he shadow stepped back into the ally and exited directly in front of her lashing out with his arm to grab he throat and pin her to the wall.

He moved in close for the kill his fiery eyes illuminating her face in a pale red tint. A face he recognized. His momentum stopped abruptly as he eyes widened and his jaw dropped. He cocked his head a bit and tried to speak but surprise and confusion tied his tongue. He weakened his grasp on her immediately and after a few moments of stuttering managed to say a single word. ”G..Gaiana?”.

That feeling of being watched kept increasing. It was like a prickling sensation in the back of her mind, causing the hairs on her neck to stand up a little. She resisted the urge to look over her shoulder a few times. Experience told her to keep walking and not tip off the person or creature who was stalking her. Predators often stalked prey. However, she was prey that knew how to defend herself with knife, teeth, and nail, if need be.

She just kept on walking. Sooner or later, Gaiana knew the predator would strike. And then, she'd surprise him. Or so she thought. Even with her knowing he was there, he'd somehow managed to get in front of her, grabbing her right shoulder as soon as she passed the next dark alley, and pivoting her into it. She tried to land in a crouch, but the wall got to her before she could, knocking the air from her lungs. It was only a matter of seconds before she was being lifted up the wall, her blonde hair catching a little onto the rough bricks. She gasped for breath, fear, real and genuine bloomed in her chest. The last time she had felt fear was when an angry mob had chased her and her sisters away with fire and pitchforks, setting their cottage on fire. Then anger blossomed and she lifted a hand to grab his arm, intending to drive her assailant a bit insane, but something stopped her.

His eyes..they glowed red. She only knew of one creature that had eyes that glowed like that and she found herself stopping her fight as she gasped, "Cy-Cyrus?" Her voice came out as more of a croak before he loosened her grip, dropping her. She landed in a crouch and coughed, rubbing at her throat. Add being choked to her least favorite thing in the world. Why some men liked to be choked in bed was beyond her. Either way, she was not a fan of that, k, thnx!

She could hear him sputtering before he said her name, confirming her suspicions. The last she'd heard from him, he had been the only haunt left in the world. It was therefore safe to assume that the haunt had been Cyrus and not someone else..Especially after he'd released her neck from his grip. She straightened then as her eyes adjusted to the poorer lighting of the dark alley. She studied the familiar form of her old friend before giving him a hug. "Its good to see you," she said, her voice recovering a little faster than a human's would..still croaky though.

Cyrus couldn’t believe his eyes when they took in the sight before him. Even though the last meeting had been so long ago he remembered her immediately. How could he have not, there she stood her fair features and complexion creating a portrait of beauty that mirrored the same image in his memory formed over two hundred years ago when she saved his life. He was shocked to say the least and even though he smelled fear when he grabbed her last thing on his mind was a meal. Out of everyone he had met throughout the yeas Gaiana the only one he would have considered friend. Though their meetings were often through necessity she had always been willing to go out of her way. It had been so long since they last ever crossed paths however that he assumed he would never see her again, especially after he was forced to leave Europe. He would have wondered how long she had been here but his mind was focused on the guilt of hurting her.

He recoiled a bit when she went to give him a hug not being used to the contact of another. However he gathered himself quickly and wrapped an arm around her in return. ” It’s good to see you to.” He had a hundred questions for her but surprise seemed to hold his tongue. He was however able to focus on one question, as the rasp in her voice reminding him how violent he was towards her. Quickly exiting the embrace his lifted a hand to her chin to tilt her head up a bit and gently ran a finger down her neck and across to the other side, his eyes scanning for any sign that she had injury. ” Are you okay?” His red eyes casting a gentle glow onto her as he peered easily through the darkness.

Time was a funny thing. It could go by slowly or quite fast. For Gaiana, a year was more like a day for her. A few centuries seemed like years. Long life could be a curse or a blessing. A blessing because there were times in human history that you were lucky to be witness to. And a curse because more often than not, you got to be witness to some terrible events too and those around you did not always have long lives like your own.

Gaiana could remember many faces from her time walking the Earth. Sometimes, she liked someone so much that she would watch over their descendants and nudge them in the right direction here and there from afar. Had Cyrus been human, she would have done the same for him. But it seemed that he was just as long-lived as she was because here he was, staring at her as if she was some ghostly apparition.

She noted his reflexive recoil initially at their contact with her hug. He seemed to get used to it though and wrapped an arm around her. She smiled at his words as she gave him a final squeeze before he pulled out of their embrace and lifted her chin up to inspect her neck. There were red marks from where his hand had been, but no bruises. She didn't bruise easily. She thought it was from her nature. Tree bark didn't bruise unless there was extreme force used. The same seemed to be the case for Gaiana's skin. "I'm fine, old friend..You caught me by surprise though. I may need to spend more time in the sparring ring," she said with a small grin, the croak coming out of her voice bit by bit as the time passed. Water would get it back to normal faster though. She waved that need away for the moment. "What brings you to America?," she asked, curious about his answer. Last she heard, he was somewhere in Europe. As far as she knew, he'd not been across the pond before.

Cyrus frowned at seeing the red marks, she would be fine but he did not enjoy the idea of hurting a friend. She was probably the only old friend he had and perhaps one of the few friends he had ever had. She was a creature of caring and grace, his opposite if he ever found one though she often confused and pushed him he enjoyed her company and gentle nature. Cyrus’ life had been filled with survival, death and loss and he embraced the darkness of it were she had embraced the light of it. He smiled a bit knowing that out of anyone she would be able to help him in trying to find more to life. “Perhaps I could get you back in practice.” He laughed a little. “Sorry again for the attack.” He was more than embarrassed, he didn’t enjoy the thought of having someone witness his other side so to speak.

“Here let’s get out of the darkness” He made a move to exit the ally waiting for her to follow before walking out onto the seemingly bright street. He squinted in the yellow ambiance of the streetlights as they walked. He thought about her question for a moment finding the right words. She was someone he was comfortable being honest with. “Well I was nearly killed in France. Lupari had tracked me down and cornered me. I survived by escaping onto a freighter and found myself here.” He gave a bit of a smile assuring her he was fine now before running an awkward hand up to his eyes to shield them from the light. He was exactly comfortable saying the other reasons out loud yet.

Instead he turned his attention to her. “So how about yourself, what events lead me to meet you here of all places?” He had to admit he never expected to find her here. His mind wondered if she was also being hunted or if she just wanted a change of pace. Last he really saw her she was with her sisters, much seemed to have changed however.
