Along her travels Sadie had ended up North Carolina. Two things she enjoyed about living on the streets there were it was warmer and the ocean was close by. She tend to stay close to the beach. There were times she went there to sleep for the night. The sand was a lot more comfortable than the concrete.

For a few nights she'd found an old concave next to a run down building that had a mattress had been left. She'd found herself hunkering down and sleeping on that. It was softer than the sand, but if she had to the sand was where she went.

That's where she slept that night, on the old mattress. She wore shorts, which she borrowed from a girl. Okay, maybe not borrow, but the girl had a party that she invited herself to. She got some free booze, drugs, shower, clothes, and a place to crash for the night. It was a lot warmer down here than north where she had been, so she switched from her winter attire and put on something cooler. Her old clothes were warn and had nearly turned to rags anyway.

The problem with being alone on the streets is people knew you were someone that wasn't accounted for in the system, so they could hurt you without any repercussions. That's what Sadie had found out within her first week of being on the streets, and it was why she took up recreational drugs. It helped keep her sane during those rough patches, which appeared to be one of those now.

She was woken up at early hours of the morning. If she had to guess it was between midnight and four a.m. She realized someone was nudging her with their foot. She scrambled up quickly, getting defensive. As she did she bumped into someone else and quickly turned, but as she turned she saw them. There were about five guys standing around her with grins that told her exactly what they were going to do to her.

She heard one guy laughing about there being a bed to enjoy her on. Sadie backed up and tried to run, except one guy grabbed her roughly. She wasn't one to give up without a fight, so she stomped her foot down onto his then kneed him in the groin. He groaned and pushed her away as he bent forward to hold himself.

Two of the guys grabbed her and she screamed loudly, but one clamped her mouth shut. She kicked her legs and jerked her arms, trying to get out of their grasp as they pushed her down onto the mattress. In the back of her mind she realized she wasn't going to get to sleep there again.
