Its funny how life can be. Just a bit ago, Nora and Christian had picked up Everleigh in South Dakota on their mad-dash across the United States from Tennessee to California. Don't ask her how they'd ended up in South Dakota. It had just happened when Christian had thought he'd try a short cut that turned out to be under construction and they'd had to detour around it.

Everleigh had become like a little sister to Nora and she'd been sad to see her go. She'd offered to walk in with Everleigh into Mach's shop, but she'd told them to go on because they still had to check into their hotel. And it had turned out they had a last minute meeting with Christian's agent. So, they'd spent all of five seconds in the room before being whisked off downstairs to the restaurant.

So, needless to say..Nora had had another reason to stop by Mach's shop the day she'd gotten her guitar. She'd been thinking of getting Christian a guitar for an early birthday present for a while there, but she'd also wanted to check on Ever before the whole scalp massage and kiss and stuffs happened. Before meeting Mach, she'd had a firm wish to just check on Ever and get a guitar..Now she was hoping to see him again and check on her. Funny, huh?

She pushed the door to the shop open, walking inside with a bag of breakfast goodness from a local deli. Nothing special, just two donuts, a breakfast sandwich, etc. She also had some fruity drinks to wash their breakfast down. She'd intentionally brought way too much just in case Mach joined them, but well, maybe she'd just see Ever? Yeh..maybe.

The shop had just barely opened and already there had been two customers. Not bad. Everleigh had been stocking guitar picks on and off all morning. She kept having to stop when the door opened but she didn't mind. She wanted to be as helpful as she could. Mach was upstairs taking care of the dogs so Everleigh decided that since mornings were usually slower than the afternoons she would do some tidying up down in the shop. Well, that had turned into actually manning the floor and, at first, that was a bit overwhelming. She'd never actually had a job before so working the shop was different for her. She had gotten the hang of it quickly, though and was feeling rather accomplished when the door opened again.

This time when she turned a huge grin spread across her face. 'Nora!" She exclaimed as she rushed over. She took the food and drinks from her friend and put them on the counter before giving the woman a big hug. Ever had been hoping to see her again. She missed Nora and Christian after all the help they gave her to get to Mach's. "What are you doing back in California?" Not that it mattered. Everleigh was just happy to see her.

Nora was glad that she had her hands full of breakfast goodness. Otherwise, she was pretty sure that Ever would have bowled her over with a hug. It hadn't been too long since they'd dropped her off at the beginning of the week. However, she guessed it just felt longer as the girl took the drinks from her and gave her a hug.

The Southern gal was careful to hold the bag away from Ever as she returned the girl's hug, smiling the whole time. "I know its been a few days, hon, but we've not left yet...," she teased, grinning, "We'll be staying for two weeks, I think. Maybe longer. That first photoshoot has been going so well that the designer's been referring us to her friends and colleagues. We've gotten booked up a good bit more than usual."

It was a bit overwhelming to tell the truth. All the business was keeping them busy. It was nice though to be able to stay in one place for a bit. Looking at it objectively, it actually suited her. She was finding herself looking at the schools in the area too in hopes of maybe seeing if she could possibly transfer next semester if things kept up. Maybe Christian could do a circuit around California in between shoots or something. "So..How d'ya like it here, hm? Mach treating you well?," she asked, grinning..She wasn't sure if Ever knew about their little date the night before..She wasn't sure how much he'd have told her. For now, she'd keep that up her sleeve. Get a little recon going.

Everleigh blushed a bit. She had completely forgot about the photo shoot that was keeping Nora and Christian in town for a while. She shoved her hands in her pockets and shrugged a bit. "Yeah, I knew that." She said and then she giggled. It was obvious she had forgotten. It was still really good to see Nora though. Hitch hiking wasn't exactly the safest thing to do and Ever had been lucky to run into Christian and Nora and have them help her. Things definitely could have turned out differently for her if she hadn't found nice people to help her out.

She busied herself with getting the food ready as Nora asked her about Mach. "Everything's perfect so far. He's a nice guy and we're getting along fine. I have a room to myself and the dogs seem to like me ok." She smiled a bit at that. Ever's never had a pet before so having three dogs suddenly was wonderful. She's always been drawn to animals and visa versa. There was something about the animals that made her feel so safe and cared for. It was a feeling that not all humans around her had always given her. Now that was changing, though. It had only been a few days but she was already feeling like Mach was family. She was comfortable there and was hoping she wouldn't have to leave anytime soon. "So where are you guys staying?"

It was alright if Ever had forgotten their plans. It was alright if she forgot. The gal was like a little sister to her, so she was excused the occasional bout of forgetfulness. It was funny how very little it had taken for them to become so close, being on the road and all. However, the girl had such a fun and open spirit that Nora couldn't help but like her and want to add her to her adopted family. After all, when you've lost your parents, then you made your own family.

Nora was glad to hear that things were going so well with Mach and Ever in their living arrangements. The girl had been hitch-hiking when they'd met and Christian and Nora just couldn't bring themselves to leave her to the mercies of other strangers. Granted, they had been strangers to her, but well, they were nice strangers. There were crazy weirdos out there that would have eaten Ever up. Luckily, they were headed to the same place and well, they'd also hadn't had any jobs to do along the way. No, just the fact that they had to get to L.A. by a certain time.

"Aw, that's fantastic!," she said with a smile as she unwrapped and started eating her sausage biscuit, making sure to chew, chew, chew before swallowing and stating, "So glad y'all are getting along!" It was then that Ever asked her where they were staying and she had to think for a moment. "Um, the Hampton Inn downtown? Pretty swanky," she bumped her friend's hip then and grinned, "I got my own room this time too."
