whoa-oh, run for your life
Turning the handle of her front door, Kaylynn stepped into her apartment, dropping the keys to the minivan that she still had from that family down in North Carolina onto the table right by the door. She reached into her coat pocket and took out her cell phone placing it lightly next to the keys. Next she turned herself around and opened the door to reveal a closet with all kinds of jackets inside of it. Kaylynn took out a hanger and hung up her winter coat then kicked off her boots and kicked them into the closet for them to dry after she had walked through the slush from the passing snow storm before and because she didn’t get herself a new pair, her socks were wet. So instead was treading through her apartment with soaking wet socks, she took them off at the door and quickly jumped from the tile floor of the front hall onto the carpet as if it was like lava.

Pulling her hat off of her head she walked into her living room to look up and find a woman sitting there on the only chair in the room next to the couch, her eyes locked onto the presence of the other woman. She was beautiful and she sat there with her right leg crossed over her left, her left elbow resting on the arm of the chair and her hand resting on her face as she leaned against it. At the sight of Kaylynn, the woman smirked slowly, her eyes gleaming with an evil plot.

“Hello Kaylynn Maverick.”

From there everything was a blur, the vision moved at a fast pace. Kaylynn was knocked all around her living room, slamming into the wall, breaking picture frames and knocking over furniture. There were a few more hits that were exchanged between the two of them as soon as Kaylynn was able to break herself free out of the woman’s hold and the next thing that she knew, she was throwing herself out of her bedroom window with her cat in her hands and the pistol that Sastre had left her. Kaylynn landed on her back on the grid of the fire escape with no jacket or shoes on and she was a bloody mess. Kay scurried to her feet clutching to her cat and the pistol as she ran down the fire escape steps and finally made it to solid ground, her feet freezing instantly to the touch of the cold concrete and the snow. Without a moment to lose, Kaylynn charged down the alleyway and out into the streets, not giving a damn about who saw what and if they had called the cops or not.

Her first priority was to get out of there and away from her apartment, and she succeeded, but not before the woman had did a number in on the prophet.

That was what she saw at work today while she was on break, and Kaylynn didn’t know what to make of it. First off, she was extremely confused and didn’t know what to say. The last time that she had checked, the angels were supposed to protect her, so why didn’t they swoop in and destroy the current threat that was sitting in her house at the time. She didn’t know much about angels and she had no idea that they had weaknesses, which meant that the symbols that were drawn all over the wall must have been the very things that was keeping her angels out.

Usually, she would have been paying attention more often on what was going on around considering that she had no idea when the hell this vision was going to occur, but her head hurt so much that all Kaylynn could think about was getting home, crawling into bed with her cat to lay down and sleep forever. So she walked through everything imaginable on the sidewalk and only moved out of the way of other people and that meant that Kaylynn had walked through the mountains of snow, crossed the vast ice plains, and through the sloppy hills of slush to get back to her apartment. For most of the walk from downtown Salem, Kaylynn had felt like she was crossing through Naria or something.

She was ninety percent of the way there to her apartment though as she buzzed herself in and then started to tread up the stairs. As she did so, Kaylynn began patting down her pockets not only for her keys, but she was looking for her phone. She had forgotten to call Sastre’s motel room to either leave him a message or tell him that she had left work and that she was home. He probably would make a comment about how she didn’t call him as soon as she had left the building, but her mind had been wandering elsewhere at that moment, and it was now time to inform him of the vision that she had. Apart of her didn’t want to tell him, he was on the other half of the country for a reason and he didn’t need her placing anymore problems onto his plate…

“Hey Sas.” She began speaking, while flipping through her key chain to find her apartment door key, the clicking and clanging of the metals from the key chains were beginning to make her head hurt even more. “Just calling to let you know that I left work and I’m currently making my way into my apartment right now. Sorry that I didn’t call you as soon as I got out… my head was really hurting and I wasn’t really thinking straight.” Which wasn’t entirely too far away from the truth right? She thought so anyway. You bet that she had decided that she wasn’t going to tell him what she had seen.

Kaylynn dropped her keys onto the little table, slipped out of her jacket and then kicked off her boots into the closet moving the phone from her shoulder to her hand to hold it against her ear. “Whenever you get this… or whenever you have the time… call me back, okay? I…I really miss you. So, call me alright?” It was when Kaylynn had took off her drenched socks and threw them into the closet did she actually stop and realize what she was doing… which was everything that had happened in the vision other than the fact that she was on the phone.

With her heart dropping directly into her stomach, Kaylynn leaned a little bit to the side to see if she could get the chair in the line of her vision but there was nothing. Kay had fallen silent on the phone, slowly lowering it from her ear and lightly putting it onto the table and slowly taking her hand away, almost like a robot, she finished the voicemail. “I’ll talk to you later, bye hun.” She knew that if she was going to play her cards right, if she was going to get out of this, she had to make it look like she had no idea that there was someone in her apartment, so she continued and stepped into the living room, and before her was the woman that she had seen in her vision.

The. Same. Exact. Woman.

never free, never me
Patience was something that Angelo severely lacked, and it pained her to sit in the empty apartment, alone, with nothing to do, for several hours. She had finished placing the enochian anti-angel symbols throughout the prophet's home within minutes of arriving after the girl had left earlier that morning. Now there was nothing left to do but wait for the mouse to spring the trap.

Angelo had been having a perfectly enjoyable time in Las Vegas before this, people in the Sin City were all too willing to damn their souls. Humans were twisted, vile little creatures, and all it took from her was a little nudge in the right direction to send them over the edge. Angelo didn't understand why so many people fought to save the human race, they were petty, violent, selfish, and a number of other things. Some of them did things that could even put a few demons to shame. The race was destroying itself, all that would happen by opening Lucifer's cage would be speeding up the inevitable. And just like any other demon, Angelo enjoyed showing humans how shallow they really were. She'd been just about to coax one drunken slob into going home and bludgeoning his wife's brains out, when she'd been contacted by one of her superiors.

That was another misconception that a lot of people had. They assumed that demons were unorganized, that they just slithered around aimlessly causing trouble without purpose. But that couldn't have been further from the truth. Sure, Angelo got off on wreaking havoc and bringing chaos upon families, but she had a boss, and her boss had a boss, and so on. There was a chain of command at play, there had to be these days in order to get things done. After all, Lucifer's cage wasn't going to open itself.

Prophets were a very valuable tool to the bosses. Being able to know what the future held gave one the opportunity to try to change it to fit his whim, and he would always be one step ahead of the opponent. That was why Angelo was being sent to recover one named Kaylynn Maverick. Angelo's potential had been realized by her boss, and they were finally going to put her to the test. Realizing what a chance she had here, Angelo gladly accepted the charge and was on her way to the girl's apartment, even though it pained her to leave her shenanigans unfinished in Vegas.

That was how Angelo ended up sitting in the Maverick residence in the darkness, biding her time, waiting for the prophet to walk right into the net. Her angel body guards wouldn't be able to help her, and she doubted the the girl had any training or experience in self defense. Most prophets were civilians with little to no skill. Angelo didn't really anticipate any problems with containing Kaylynn, and so she reclined comfortably in the arm chair in the living room, right leg crossed over left, and her chin resting against her left hand.

Finally, after hours of sitting and waiting, Angelo heard a key in the apartment door. The poor little mouse was about to be trapped in its own home. Angelo remained silent and observant as she heard Kaylynn coming inside, discarding things in the entry way, and then flicking the lights on. Then when Kaylynn stepped onto the carpet of the living room, and the expression on the young brunette's face turned to one of shock and fear, a sinister grin spread across Angelo's face. Time to get down to it.

"Hello, Kaylynn Maverick." Angelo stood from the chair, her long limbs seeming to grow even longer as her lithe form extended to its full height. "I've heard some interesting things about you." She took a moment to size up her prey. The girl appeared to be physically fit, but that didn't mean that she knew how to defend herself. "For example, I've heard that you can see things before they happen. Angelo was circling her prey now, much like a shark about to go in for the kill. "So Kaylynn, one way or another you're going to be coming with me. You can chose to do so willingly, in which case you'll only be hurt a little bit. Or, you can choose to try to run, in which case you'll be in enough pain to make you beg to die. Which option would you prefer?" There was an evil glint in her eye, she sincerely hoped the brunette would opt for the latter.

whoa-oh, run for your life
Kaylynn couldn’t turn around and run out now. It was too late. Angelo had already seen her, and by the looks of the way that she had been sitting, she had been waiting for her for a very long time. In other words, Angelo was aggravated and she was waiting for Kaylynn to make a move. Swallowing hard, Kaylynn took in her surroundings and her situation right now. There were symbols all over her walls that she had no idea what they were and what they were for. Maybe they were there to keep something away… and that something she realized was her angels. Clearly this woman wasn’t here to protect her or to make sure that her safety was her first priority… that only led her to believe that she was something of the supernatural as well.

But what?

What creature would go to extreme lengths in order to make sure that Kay’s guardians couldn’t get to her, or to make sure that she felt so… violated at the presence of this stranger in her home that would cause her to run away? What would want her so badly? There was only one thing that could come to her mind…

A demon.

Fear suddenly struck Kaylynn frozen, her eyes locked on Angelo’s beautiful vessel as her hands began to tremble slightly from the fear that was rising. Her heart was beginning to race and she could hear it beating in her ears. It got worse the moment that Angelo began to circle around her, but Kaylynn didn’t allow her to finish the circle before her flight or fight instincts kicked in, that meant that she jumped and turned herself around, backing away towards the chair that the demon had just been sitting in, trying to create some distance between the two of them.

It seemed that all of the self defense tactics that Sastre had taught her no longer existed in her brain when she was suddenly frightened for her life. Vaguely the images of Sastre teaching her how to fight were beginning to surface, but they were fuzzy as her heart continued to pound heavily within her chest. Kaylynn kind of felt like she was going to have a heart attack but her eyes darted the coffee table for a quick second, looking at the drawer that was underneath in. Sitting inside of that piece of wood was going to be the key point of Kaylynn’s survival. It was the pistol that Sastre had left behind for her with three types of ammo. One that was silver for werewolves, another of dead man’s blood for vampire, and the last one was iron… for demons. She needed to get her hands on that gun, but right now, she needed to fill the very long silence in the room…

“Who are you and what do you want with me?” The first question seemed logical to ask. Kaylynn might had guessed that she was a demon, but that didn’t mean that she was right. The young prophet needed the confirmation before she had decided to leap for the coffee table to grab the gun and start firing rounds into the woman’s chest… that was another thing. Did Kaylynn actually have the heart to shoot her? Inside of that body was a woman that was completely innocent. Someone that most likely had no idea what was out there in the world and then suddenly she didn’t have any control over her body… Could Kaylynn kill her?

“Tell me what you want…” She said sternly trying to make it look like she wasn’t scared, but her voice cracked under the pressure. “Depending on your answer… is if I do or don’t go with you…”

never free, never me
The smell of fear had become sweet to Angelo over her long years. It meant that she was getting a reaction that she wanted, and she was in complete control of the situation. Control was always something that everyone sought, whether they wanted to admit it or not. And as the young prophet realized why Angelo was there, the air became thick with that delicious aroma, and she knew she had the upper hand.

Beginning to circle the frightened young girl, Angelo's sinister smirk said it all when the girl backed away in fear. She anticipated this to be an easy grab, not expecting Kaylynn to put up much of a fight. Most little civilian girls didn't know enough to protect themselves. Their fight or flight instinct always told them to go with flight, and that just made things all the more exciting. One of the best parts of reeling in a catch was the chase. It got the adrenaline pumping, and the look on the prey's face when it was caught was priceless. Usually there was nothing but pure, primal fear, and flailing limbs as the mouse tried to escape its trap. Seeing that pure fear behind Kaylynn's front gave Angelo a slight bit of pride.

But when she saw the girl's eyes flicker toward the coffee table in the center of the room, Angelo realized she'd made a very big mistake. She'd neglected to really search the apartment thoroughly for anything that could be used against her. She'd just jumped to the conclusion that the prophet wouldn't have any items like that. Then it dawned on her that she really didn't have any information on Kaylynn, all Angelo had was her assumptions. And there was a fifty-fifty chance that her assumptions were wrong. For all she knew, the prophet could have some very capable friends, Hunter friends, that could come breaking through her protection symbols at any moment. Suddenly her confidence had a gaping hole in it, but she didn't let that show through, and kept her arrogant front up.

The first question the prophet asked made Angelo snicker. "Who do you think I am? I'll let you decide, based on the fact that I'm here to take you back to my boss for a little poking and prodding." She kept her answer obscure for two reasons. One was that she really didn't know what the girl knew about demons, and if she had a weapon that could be used against Angelo. The second was to test that knowledge, and see what kind of reaction the 'poking and prodding' got from the young girl.

By this point, Angelo had positioned herself in between the other brunette and the doorway, cutting off her most obvious escape route. Her hands stayed loose at her sides, ready to move quickly as she wasn't exactly sure what to expect from Kaylynn Maverick. Then the girl spoke again. "It's adorable how you think you have a choice. You should be grateful for the fact that you're to be taken alive, but that doesn't mean you can't be banged up a bit. I wouldn't test my patience if I were you, it isn't my strong suit."

If you want to get out alive, run for your life.
She was silent as she stared at Angelo. What was Kaylynn doing? Weighing out her options. If her guess was right, and Angelo here actually was a demon, she had limited options that she could do. Of course Kaylynn was aware of the fact that she was powerful and she could throw Kay across the room with a simple thought, but she wasn’t going to allow herself to be taken so easily. She was a fighter, and she was raised to be one to the very end of her life. While she grew up her parents constantly told her that she shouldn’t give in, that she should stand up for what she believed in, for what others believed in, and to protect your life.

Protecting her life was what she needed to do now.

Kaylynn didn’t notice, but as soon as Angelo had revealed once more what her bosses wanted to do to the poor prophet… her face drained of all blood and she turned pale. She knew that meant that they were going to torture her, she wasn’t that stupid. Kaylynn couldn’t help but ask herself why they would want to torture her? If the caught her, and they even thought for a second to use physical harm to get her to tell them what she had visions about, Kaylynn was going to keep her mouth shut. Of course that’s what Kaylynn thought anyway. She didn’t know what she would do till she ended up in that position and right now it looked like she just might.

Taking in a deep breath through her nostrils, Kaylynn began to calm down her nerves and try to settle her heart. Of course that wasn’t going to change the fact that she was scared out of her mind, but being calm, cool, and collected in a situation like this was going to change everything and it could eventually lead to her escape. But where was she going to go? Where was she going to run too to make sure that she safe? Sastre was on the other side of the country and unable to get to her to make sure that she safe, and she was pretty sure that there weren’t any more hunters in the area that she could go running too.

Well, actually there was.

She was pretty sure that Rutter was still in town, and he wasn’t staying that far away from her. Once she escaped here – if she managed too – she could go sprinting to his place and ask for him to keep her safe, or make sure that she wasn’t going to be attacked. Hopefully that was going to be enough.

Angelo might not have shown it, but Kaylynn could feel a shift in the room, as if there was something that the demon had overlooked. Kay was going to try and use that to her advantage. There was a difference though here, she was facing up against a demon, not some human being where she would have been able to wander up to her and nail her straight across the face or something. This was different, Kaylynn could have her neck snapped in a matter of seconds, that was something that she didn’t want to happen. Although, with the look of things, it seemed that she was wanted alive but it seemed like Angelo was more than ready to break a few of Kaylynn’s ribs to get her to the place that she wanted to bring her.

Out of fear and nervousness, Kaylynn bit down on the corner of her lip, her eyes scanning of Angelo for some kind of sign that she wasn’t actually facing a demon. There were other creatures out there that wanted her right? Demons weren’t the only ones. Psh, like that was any better, being wanted by someone other than a demon. Kaylynn believed that to be true, simply because not only was a woman of faith, but she was pretty damn sure that demons were the biggest evil on the planet and she had no idea what they were going to do to her. At least with another monster with grabby hands she would feel a lot safer.

Swallowing her fear, Kaylynn spoke. “I always have a choice.” She said to her, making sure that her voice didn’t crack. “I can go with you without a scratch, or you can beat the living hell out of me or I can go with you willingly. Those are technically my two choices.” Kay lifted up to fingers. “So the second choice gives me the option to say no or not. You just seem to think that I don’t have a choice in this matter, when I actually do.”

It was remarks like that that were going to get Kaylynn hurt one day. When it came to life threatening situations, Kay seemed to always throw in the sarcastic side of her which usually got her into trouble. Except now she was using it against a demon that was more than willing to throw her out a window if she had wanted too. That of course was if she was truly a demon.

What was that word that Sastre used on Kay once? Oh yeah…

“Christo.”

never free, never me
One thing that Angelo couldn't stand was snippy, sarcastic little bitches. It was a little hypocritical of her, since she could be one herself at times, but she hated dealing with them probably as much as the next person. The only difference was that she didn't have a problem with making them shut up however she saw fit, and Kaylynn was seriously getting on Angelo's nerves.

Angelo had liked the girl much better when they had first started this out, she was terrified and shaking like a leaf. That was how it was supposed to be. When threatened with torture, most people practically melted into a spineless puddle. The prophet had come close, the absence of color in the girl's cheek's hadn't escaped Angelo's notice. But damn, did this one have resolve. That was something they would have to work on.

Breaking spirits was a required skill in her job area, and it was a part of her job that Angelo quite enjoyed. There was nothing like watching the light of hope go out in someone's eyes, or knocking that fighting fire right out of them. There were a couple of approaches to this, either verbal or physical abuse. In some cases, threatening a person's family or loved ones quelled any fight in them. In others, more drastic measures were required, such as the breaking of bones and slicing of flesh. Personally, Angelo preferred the latter. It was much messier to clean up, but it was so much more fun to get hands on.

Angelo was seconds away from having at the young prophet and teaching her a thing or two about respecting her betters, especially after she got snotty in reciting her choices. "I don't think you appreciate the gravity of your situation, girl. Now it's time to stop playing around." Her annoyance was obvious in the way her tone shifted, her fuse was short and burning.

The girl was stubborn, but Angelo was stubborner. She had too much riding on this snatch. But it became obvious that Kaylynn knew more than Angelo had given her credit for when the other woman said the one word that had any sort of power over her. Not only did it make her flinch physically and make her eyes turn black, but it snapped the last thread that had been holding any semblance of patience together.

"Don't say I didn't warn you." With a flick of her wrist, Angelo sent the other woman flying into the hard, unforgiving wall hard enough to send a severe message of pain but not hard enough to knock the girl unconscious. She wanted Kaylynn awake as long as possible to experience the maximum amount of pain. It was time the prophet learned just who she was fucking with.

If you wanna get out alive, whoa-oh, run for your life
Something told Kaylynn that saying Christo was just going to piss her off, especially if she was a demon, but the young prophet needed to know what she was going up against. Why? Because she wanted to make sure that she was going to have a fighting chance. If she had been facing a vampire, they could have thrown her against the wall and ripped into her flesh in just a matter of seconds, same thing with a werewolf. A demon on the other hand could really only move as fast at their host, but they did certainly have abilities to toss their victims around and even pin them to the walls. It was the thought of being pinned somewhere that scared Kaylynn to death, and the fear was plain to see in her face as she thought about it. She felt that she had better chances however fighting a demon than she did any of the other creatures…

Her chocolate hues watched as Angelo shuddered, cringed, and eyes turned a pitch black. Kaylynn’s eyes had widened at the sight, struck with fear and made immobile as she looked upon her. There was a small part of her that kept screaming that there was a chance that this was some human that was trying to scare her, a human that was working for the demons and she might actually be able to win this match. But now her biggest fear had been confirmed and she was standing there in front of a demon. All of her level headed calmness that her parents had instilled in her since she was a child was gone, Kaylynn’s face grew pale and her pupils nearly took over the iris of her eyes.

“O-Ow…” Kaylynn groaned, pushing herself up onto her elbows, shaking from the pain that just continued to course through her body. She knew that the more that she moved it was going to hurt, there was no getting around that. She huffed carefully, then started to push herself up onto her feet, using the wall and the nearby furniture as a crutch to pull herself up. Now with a throbbing back and hurting ribs – both were probably bruised – it was going to make things harder for her to move around and fight back. But let’s be realistic here, what are the chances of Kaylynn fighting back and leaving here without a scratch? Or even with her life?

They weren’t really high.

Was it sad to admit that Kaylynn was all right with that idea? Why was she okay with this? Because she knew that she had left her cell phone sitting on the table by the door, leaving Sastre probably one of the longest voicemails that he would ever receive and the demon hasn’t even noticed that she had done it. Kay knew that as soon as she got out of here – assuming that she made it out with her life – Sastre wasn’t going to be that far behind the monster, tracking it down and trying to save her. He would avenge her, find her, or take care of her if something happened to go wrong, she knew it.

Putting her hand on her back where it hurt the most, she looked up at Angelo with pain written all over her face and eyes, but still she placed a smile onto her face and spoke with a polite tone. “Well, that wasn’t very nice, was it?” Kaylynn might have been scared as she has ever been in her entire life, but she wasn’t going to give the demon the satisfaction of seeing the fear stricken across her face. She had already done that for her, it was Kay’s turn to make the tables turn around to be placed into her favor. “How are you going to get me to go with you after rough handling me?”

The coffee table still wasn’t in reach for Kaylynn, she was going to have to dash across the room to get it, and her idea was stupid, but she had a feeling that it was going to be somewhat effective. She needed to get Angelo to get her close enough to the table as she could. If that meant taunting her and going through a whole lot of pain to get there, Kaylynn was going to have to do it; she was strong… she knew that she could survive.

She hoped…

never free, never me
Humans could be so damn irritating at times like this. The little meat bags thought they were so great, they were always full of overconfidence. Every last one of them figured themselves to be invincible, and had zero respect for things that were greater than them. As it turned out, Kaylynn wasn't much different. The prophet's unyielding resistance was grating on Angelo's nerves big time. If it had been up to her, the young woman wouldn't still be breathing. Too bad the girl was so valuable.

Then again, prophets weren't necessarily completely human. They'd been touched by the hand of God, or some bull shit like that. Which only made Angelo resent them even more. She could never understand what Heaven saw in the puny, pathetic beings. They were weak and needy, could barely take care of themselves. Hell, they'd nearly destroyed their own entire race more than once all on their own. Humans were a flawed race, and the divine love for them was something that Angelo would never understand, not that she really wanted to.

Kaylynn proved to be just as weak as the rest of her species counterparts, as the pain she was experiencing was obvious on her face. That brought a slight smirk to Angelo's face, few things pleased her more than inflicting such pain. She looked forward to bringing much, much more to the prophet in the near future. Angelo knew that behind the girl's smile, she was trembling with fear, not knowing how bad things were really going to get for her. She could smell that fear, feel it radiating from the other brunette in waves. It was a sweet feeling as order was once again restored to their situation.

The tone the girl spoke with elicited a chuckle from Angelo. "I'm not really much for being nice. As for getting you out of here, I figured on dragging you out half dead. Who knows, maybe your neighbors will see and call the police. Too bad they won't be able to find you. No one will." That wasn't really a bluff either, the location she had planned to bring Kaylynn to was well off the beaten trail. Angelo had complete confidence in how well it was hidden. No one would be able to hear the girl's screams of pain, or hear her beg for the release of death.

"You have no idea how rough you're about to be handled, sweetheart." Angelo's sinister grin spread across her lips again as she sent Kaylynn for a few more trips into the wall, not satisfied until she heard the crack of a bone. "You can make this stop any time you want." Though the torment would really only end for a short time.

if you want to get out alive, run for your life
If there was one thing that Angelo was right about this situation right here, it was the fact that Kaylynn believed that she was invincible. She was young, a twenty-year-old woman who didn’t have a lot of terrible trauma happen in her life, other than getting a vision of her best friend dying. Anything else was really in Kaylynn’s control and she often avoided those kinds of situations because she knew the outcome of them all. They were all grim for her. And because of Bobby Singer, and because of the discovery of the army of arch angels that were on guard waiting to smite whatever decided to threaten their precious prophet. It was that little piece of information that made Kaylynn feel even more invincible than ever and she started to make riskier decisions.

This one, however, had to be not only one of the riskiest things she has ever done, but also one of the dumbest.

Honestly, Kaylynn should have been more careful, she knew that. She should have placed a devil’s trap on the ceiling or by the door so that when she had snuck into the apartment she wouldn’t have been able to do anything. Or Kay should have placed it somewhere where the she could lure the demon too, get them stuck, and then take down all the angel wards so that they could swoop in and smite her.

Did she think of that? Of course not. She only just now thought about it as she looked at Angelo right in the eyes. She could see the desire that this demon had to kill her. That’s what scared her the most. Kaylynn knew that demons were the evilest of creatures, but it was entirely different when you’re facing them. She could see the hate radiating off of her, and all Kaylynn wanted to do was get out of there. Although Kaylynn knew that she was going to have to endure some pain before she had managed to escape out of there with her life…

Suddenly, Kaylynn felt her body being lifted and slammed against the wall once more. She grunted from the pain that jumped through her system. On the second hit, the wind had been knocked out of her, and on the third of fourth hit she could feel her body beginning to tense up and beg for it all to stop. She knew that the tensing was something that she was going to regret doing afterward. Finally, after the fifth time, the hardest time, Kaylynn was slammed into the wall, causing a crack to split in the dry wall and a small crater to form in the wall, Kaylynn felt one of her ribs snap and her head snapped back hitting against a hanging picture, shattering the glass.

As she was dropped to the floor, a shower of glass came down with her along with the picture that dropped onto her back, causing pain to throb through her ribs as it slid off of her and hit the floor to the left in the middle of the room. Laying there on the ground, Kaylynn bit down onto her bottom lip heavily, trying to concentrate on something other than the pain caused by her rib cage. When she had opened her eyes, Kay had realized that her vision was blurry. Not thinking much of it, she closed her eyes and shook her head, regretting that decisions instantly. Her head felt ten pounds heavier and it caused to be unbalanced which resulted into Kaylynn collapsing onto her side. A groan of pain escaped from her as she forced herself to roll back over and then lift up onto her hands and knees.

Slowly and carefully, Kaylynn lifted her hand and touched lightly on the back of her head, wincing hard as soon as her fingers had touched a gash. Her hair was slick with her blood as it began to run down the back of her neck seeping into her white work shirt and dribbling down the sides of her neck to the front. She could feel her thick curly locks beginning to flatten out and hang heavy against her head which hurt even more considering that it was beginning to tug on the flesh around the deep gash on her head, which she had no doubt that it had little specs of glass in it.

Pushing herself to feet, Kaylynn could feel herself losing her balance again and that had caused her to stumble heavily, taking about two or three steps before she had managed to catch herself on the couch. Kaylynn then forced herself to stand upright, and that just caused more blood to seep out of her wound. Taking a deep breath, and wincing hard placing her hand onto her hurting rib, she looked at Angelo.

She was just that much closer to the gun that was tucked away inside of the coffee table. But Kaylynn didn’t know if she had it in her to shoot the demon or not. Why was she second questioning herself? Because the vessel that the demon had was an innocent woman who was probably awake and watching this beast torture Kay. There was something that was deep inside of her however that was telling that this other woman would’ve wanted to be shot, she was pretty sure that she being tortured as well having to watch this demon run her life and make her do things that she didn’t want to do. Kaylynn knew that getting shot and killed was going to help her feel better… but that didn’t mean that she was going to be able to do it.

“You have no idea how rough you’re about to be handled sweetheart.”

Kay gripped the back of the couch and clenched her eyes shut, feeling the fear rising within her again. But there was something that was keeping her brave, and Kaylynn was pretty sure that it was stupidity. Why was that? Because while Kaylynn had been laying on the floor, she had picked up a vile of holy water that had been knocked off of the table that she had been thrown into. Now Kaylynn was standing in arm’s length of the demon where she could use it.

Kaylynn sighed heavily, wincing as she lifted her head up to look at her. “I very much… advise you not to do this.” She said, eyeing her intently. “I know someone that’ll search till the ends of the earth to see you dead…” And it was true. Kaylynn knew that as soon as the voicemail cut out – which was pretty sure that it had happened already – Sastre was going to be on his way back here, and if he arrived seeing Kaylynn’s apartment a complete mess he wasn’t going to stop till she was found. He was one of the best hunters she knew other than the Winchesters. Sastre will hunt day and night for this demon and she knew very well that she was going to get caught.

“You’re going to piss off a lot of people that you don’t want to piss off.” Kaylynn’s face turned serious, even though she was scared for her life. She couldn’t help but narrow her eyes as she gently ran her hand through her hair as her other hand gripped tighter at the vile of holy water. “One of which is me…” With that statement Kaylynn pushed off of the couch and ripped open the vile, swinging it quickly, allowing the holy water to spill all over the demon’s face.

Now Kaylynn had a plan in her head, but as soon as she flung the holy water on the demon’s face, she had completely forgot about it and thought to herself that she needed more of it. She so jumped over the couch, stumbled because of the pain in her head, and went running for the kitchen shifting as quickly as she could for the water gun of holy water that she had hidden somewhere. Instead of the water pistol of holy water, she had found the knife that she had gotten from Sastre that had an iron blade on it. She pulled it out of its hiding place and looked at it, scanning it over trying to decide what she could do with the knife.

It was the sound of the woman coming into the kitchen that made Kaylynn whip around quickly and hold it out in front of her. She wasn’t going to tell the demon that it was made out of iron, she was going to wait till she got close enough to her to slash her face to let her figure out what it was made from.

never free, never me
By this point, Angelo was just starting to have a little bit of fun with Kaylynn. Sure, the girl was annoying as all fucking hell, but she wasn't immune to pain. It would be alright with her if the prophet was hanging onto life by a thread by the time they left, so long as that thread wouldn't snap in transit. She thoroughly looked forward to breaking Kaylynn's stubborn spirit.

Angelo thought they might have been making progress when it took Kaylynn so long to pull herself up off the floor this time. She was sure she had heard a bone or two crack, and the girl's head had made a delightfully sickening sound when it collided with the picture on the wall. The groans of pain were music to Angelo's ears, this prophet couldn't last much longer. "Sounded like that one really hurt." She feigned a sympathetic look and tone, mocking Kaylynn as her prey's fear shown through.

One thing Angelo hadn't noticed, though, was the vial in Kaylynn's hand. She was too busy laughing at the human's words. "Why would I be afraid of you, or any of your stupid little friends for that matter? Let this someone come, I'll see to it that he hangs from his intestines." It was a whole hearted threat, dished with a smirk and all, until the other woman emptied the contents of the vial in her hand into Angelo's face.

The demon let out a low growl as her skin burned and the prophet rushed past her into the kitchen. "You'll wish you hadn't done that, you fucking little bitch!" Angelo's voice was filled with venom as she worked through the acid feeling and stalked into the next room to teach the girl a lesson in respect, with steam still rising from the burned portions of her face.

In the kitchen, Angelo cornered young Kaylynn. If she hadn't appeared menacing before, then she should have by that time, with eyes black, skin smoking, and her expression coiled up into a vicious glare. She'd had more than enough of the prophet's antics. "That knife won't do you any good, girl." And Angelo advanced, arm outstretched, to grab Kaylynn in a bone-breaking grip. It was time for the bitch to learn her place.

If you wanna get out alive, run for your life
Her heart was racing, thumping hard against her chest that she had thought that at one point it was going to burst right out of her chest. She could feel her blood pumping heavily through her veins, providing her body with the aderline that it was going to need to get through this. But as her heart continued slamming itself against her chest, the more blood that was getting to her head, and her wound just bled even more. By now, the back of her shirt was drenched in her blood with a few droplet stains put on the front. Her vision was beginning to spin and blur. It was becoming harder to see straight and trying to determine where Angelo was and where she was going to end up.

However, she knew that the demon was going to be coming in to get her, and it was that thought that made her arm begin to shake in fear. She was going to have to fight her way out and even though she prepared to do it, Kay wasn’t a hunter. She didn’t know how to fight. Well, she did, but she didn’t know how to fight a demon. Already she had taken the necessary precautions to make sure that something like this happened. At first Kay didn’t even understand how she even got into the apartment… until she looked at the windows. They weren’t salted, which meant that there was utterly no way to keep her out.

God, Kaylynn felt so stupid!

“Stay away from me,” Kay said, trying to sound threatening as she was backed into the corner. But her voice was cracking, and it was starting to get hard to keep it sounding strong. Angelo was beginning to take control of the situation and Kaylynn just felt like that this was the end for her. That she was going to be dragged out of this apartment clinging on for dear life as Angelo brought her to her masters, tortured her for information for the rest of her life. The thought of it was a lot for her to take in. And now, Kaylynn was seriously wishing that she wasn’t a prophet.

Angelo’s hand drew closer, and Kay’s heart continued racing. “I said stay away!” She screamed against, swinging the knife from left to right, getting Angelo across the palm of her hand, making the cut deep enough for her to flinch.

But, if she wasn’t pissed before… she was now.

If Angelo thought patience had abandoned her before, well now she was furious. Kaylynn had far overstepped her bounds as prey. The prophet was the only one that was supposed to be bleeding, not the demon. That meant a shift in power, slight as it may have been, and that could not be allowed again. Angelo needed to be in charge of things, which meant subduing Kaylynn's fighting spirit. And that was proving more difficult than she would have liked.

Just when the burn of the holy water was beginning to fade, the iron of the knife sent a searing pain through Angelo's hand as her meat suit's delicate flesh was torn open. It felt worse than the fucking holy water had, which only fueled the demon's anger. She liked the way this meat suit looked, she didn't want some pathetic piece of trash ruining it for her.

Balling her fist around the wound, blood dripping steadily onto the floor, Angelo hissed against the burn. "That wasn't very nice." With her good hand, she grabbed hold of the wrist Kaylynn was holding her knife with before the girl had a chance to strike again. "We'll have to teach you some manners." Angelo increased the pressure on Kaylynn's wrist until she heard a snap and the blade dropped to the ground.

"Now was that so hard?" Angelo's grip shifted, her hand moving to wrap around Kaylynn's throat. She lifted the other woman off the ground with little effort, cutting off her air. How much fight could the prophet possibly have left in her after being strangled to unconsciousness?

If you want to get out a live, run for your life
Kaylynn felt her heart jump into her throat in fear. Now the anger was emitting off of her. She couldn’t help but be attracted to the blood that trickled down the palm of Angelo’s host’s hand. She could hear Dean’s voice echoing in her head from when he was talking to Sam about clowns in a vision:

“If if bleeds, you can kill it.”

Except in this case, she couldn’t kill Angelo. She didn’t have the Colt, or that awesome knife that the Winchesters had. Yeah, she had arch angels, but what good were they when Angelo had put angel wards up all around the apartment? She had nothing to stop the demon except for her will to live.

Just as Kaylynn thrusted her arm downward to puncture the beast in the arm, she had grabbed onto Kay by the wrist. Within seconds she felt her wrist snap in half and she dropped the knife to the floor as a pain stricken look took over her face. Kaylynn hissed several times, her eyes beginning to water, tears starting to threaten her. She couldn’t cry in front of Angelo, she was NOT going to please her, instead she was going to give her attitude.

“N-Nice?” her voice cracked under the pressure of the pain. “Don’t you talk about being nice, you started—”

She didn’t get the chance to finish her sentence before Angelo grabbed onto her throat. Her eyes widened in fear as she began to gasp for air and her feet lifted off of the ground. Now the lessons that she had been taught in school were kicking. In eight seconds Angelo was going to cut off the blood and oxygen flow from her brain, and in eight seconds she was going to pass out. These were going to be the longest eight seconds of her life.

She began counting.

One…

Frantically she started to look around. Two…

She realized them that she was right by her counter and she was lifted high enough to reach the cabinets. Three...

Quickly Kaylynn reached out and grabbed onto the cabinet door flinging it open. Four…

Her vision was beginning to blur and in panic, she began kicking her feet to struggle. Her hand patted all over the contents within the cabinet, knocking a lot of things over. She felt Angelo’s hand grip tighter at her throat.

Five.

The world was now spinning, and she could feel herself beginning to let go of all reality. But finally she had grabbed onto what she wanted, a container of salt. Six…

Finally, with as much strength as she had, Kaylynn popped the cover of the container off and threw the salt in Angelo’s face. Kay knew that salt stopped a demon from entering a room, but she had no idea if it was going to get Angelo to drop her. If it didn’t she hoped that Angelo would be startled enough where she would drop her. Seven…

Angelo was sure this pointless tussle would be over soon, as Kaylynn couldn't go long without air or blood to her brain. She saw the girl's eyes widen with fear, knowing she was close to losing the fight. "You could have avoided all this from the beginning, stupid little human." Their fight or flight instinct was such a pain in the ass sometimes.

The fact that Kaylynn continued to struggle seemed futile to Angelo. The girl's feet kicked, even though they were suspended in the air and could carry her nowhere, and her arms flailed in a panicked manner to reach for any sort of rescue. The sheer terror induced by lack of oxygen made Angelo chuckle dryly. Unfortunately, she didn't see that Kaylynn had grabbed a bucket of salt until it was too late.

Salt was considered to reflect purity in multiple cultures for a good reason. It burned like a son of a bitch when it touched a demon. And it made Angelo stagger backwards when it hit her in the face, dropping Kaylynn in the process. The tiny grains were everywhere: in Angelo's eyes, in her nose, in her mouth. The pain was white hot, and she was as good as blind until the salt watered out of her eyes.

With a growl, Angelo stumbled back into the kitchen table, bloody hand gripping the back of a chair for support through the agonizing pain. "When I see you again, you're mine you fucking little bitch!" She was pissed before, now the pain was only feeding her anger. She realized that by the time she got her sight back, Kaylynn would likely be gone, and the demon would have to face failing her first opportunity at gaining respect and becoming feared in the underworld. That was not a prospect that appealed to her.

so i dub thee unforgiven

If you want to get out a live, run for your life
Just as Kaylynn felt herself losing consciousness, Angelo’s hand had released her, allowing the oxygen and blood to rush to her brain, air finally getting into her system. She heaved heavily dropping to the floor with a loud thud. There was a wheezing sound coming from her mixed with coughs as she lightly placed her hand onto her now bruised neck. Her body was weak, terribly weak to the point where she began crawling on the floor to get away from her demonic attacker. She moved so quickly that her hands slapped against the tile floor of the kitchen, turning her palms a bright red. Her heart worked hard to restore her organs and give the oxygen that her muscles needed.

However, it wasn’t enough. She needed to keep going and waiting till her body was strong enough to get up wasn’t helping. Kaylynn forced herself to her feet, stumbling out of the kitchen and into the living room. Kaylynn kept coughing and wheezing. As a criminal justice student, Kay was aware that manual strangulation was the worst kind. She knew that there was damage to her wind pipe, that’s why she still couldn’t breathe, although right now it wasn’t a main priority.

Her bare feet walked over the broken glass and wood, cutting her feet open. Again, not a concern; she reached the coffee table and yanked the drawer open. Her hands fumbled with the contents inside of the drawer till it found the pistol that she had received from Sastre. At first she didn’t know how to work it, then Angel called out from the kitchen:

“When I see you again, you’re mine you fucking little bitch!”

Fear once again was restored to her pale and bruised face. Although almost like something clicked, Kaylynn was on auto pilot when getting this gun together. As she did this, all she could think about was Sastre… and Nina, Rutter, Angel, all of her friends and family. She didn’t want to die, she didn’t want to be taken by this demon to be tortured. Kaylynn didn’t want any of it. She wanted to get out of here, alive. Kaylynn didn’t sign up for this, however God did, and she couldn’t help but feel a little bit of resentment towards him for it.

The pistol finally had the bullet that she needed, Kaylynn pulled the hammer back and cocked the dangerous weapon jumping to her feet. Standing in the doorway of the kitchen, Kaylynn aimed the gun with a shaking hand. She felt herself freezing up and thinking about the house the demon had. She’d be shooting and potentially killing another victim. Could Kaylynn do that? Could she kill someone else that she didn’t know how was completely innocent? They had a family too, friends, and people who cared about them. What was Kaylynn to do?

Simple, Kaylynn aimed low with the gun and shot a round into Angelo’s knee and then her shoulder. Pulling the trigger for a third time, but the iron bullet missed, embedding into the wall. The iron bullets Kay knew was going to keep the beast occupied as she darted down the hallway.

She threw open her bedroom door allowing it to slam against the wall, creating a hole with the handle in the wall. Placing the gun onto her bed, Kaylynn rushed to her closed and yanked the sliding door open. She reached inside dragging out the bag of salt, she took out a cup full and put a line of salt at the doorway of her room. She turned around quickly, dropping the cup to the floor and running her weak hands through her hair. Her eyes settled on her window looking at the fire escape. That was her way out. She ran to the window throwing it open to climb out, but she turned around running back to her snagging her cat from underneath it and grabbed onto the pistol and finally climbing out. The cold metal didn’t seem to faze Kaylynn as she ran down the stairs, holding her cat in her left hand and the pistol with right hand that also had a broken wrist. None of the pain that se was experiencing registered with her as she jumped down from the final platform into the snow. However she felt the twist of her ankle when she landed on her bare feet. It was enough to make her fall over into the snow and use her broken wrist to catch her fall.

It wasn’t going to stop her. Holding onto her squirming cat, Kaylynn got back onto her feet and ran, running right of the alley, bumping into a few people but she kept going. She wasn’t going to stop for anyone. With her bare feet stinging from the cold snow, Kaylynn kept running and never looked back.
