Stubborn, independent, and pessimistic, Sully is in lamens terms a bitch. A lot of bad blood from her childhood has left her thinking that she's the only one she can rely on. Most of the time she thinks she's not good enough, that she will never be good enough, and all she can do is go through this life, trying to help those who are worth it.
Having had an abusive childhood where she had to push everyone away so that they wouldn't ask questions, Sully learned how to be cruel to people and not feel remorse about it. The battered nature of her body formed scars not just on her skin and internal organs, but on her spiritual and emotional self as well.
It's hard for her to let people in. The fear that they will either leave her or hurt her is always there. It was drilled into her by her father. Each pounding fist, cigarette burn, or swift kick to the ribs was just another reason to make herself stronger, pull herself away from other people. So no one would ever be able to break her.
Fierce, determined, and probably the most stubborn person you'll ever meet, Sully is also fiercely loyal. If you manage to become someone she cares about she will protect you with everything she has, even if that means taking a beating, a bullet, or sacrificing her own life to keep said person safe.
Sully's biggest problem though is that she doesn't think she's worth it. She spends her life hunting things, saving others, paying penance for a life that was out of her control, but she somehow feels was her fault. Maybe she'll never feel like she's worth it, but no matter what she'll always continue to do the right thing, whether people realize that's what she's doing or not.
With everything that has happened over the last year, growing closer to Dean, Jordan coming back to life, Sully went into a tumultuous tailspin. Add the apocalypse and needless to say she was in a bad spot for a while. She hit rock bottom when Dean left her in the hospital.
Over the last year Alex helped to build her back up, military fashion. Sully is still angry, but it's more controlled. She still drinks, though not as much. It's been well over a year since she's touched a bit of SD. Her thoughts, her emotions are controlled, and she's more reserved and stoic. Sully runs on instinct, but she doesn't run into as many situations on a whim. She's had to change a lot now that she's responsible for a team of hunter's. Running the Hounds has been good for her, teaching Sully self control and helping for her to build trust with other people.
Born in Albuquerque, NM to a Native American mother and white father, Sully was a product of two worlds. Her father hated the other worlds beliefs, especially after her mother left them. Sully was only eight at the time. Her half brother Lyle was almost sixteen. Her father began drinking and taking out his frustrations on the Sully and her brother. Lyle, no longer being able to take the abuse, left at the age of eighteen for the Marines. She's barely heard from him since.
By the age of fifteen Sully started showing shamanistic tendencies, though she does not have the full potential of a real shaman. She realized this when a bird that slammed into her bedroom window.
Sully took the bird into her room. She was saddened by it's broken wing and gasping breaths. Holding the bird close to her, she felt a twinge of something inside her. Energy seem to swirl from somewhere deep within her. Instinctively she let it wash out over the bird. It's breathing eased, and the wing, while still dinged, didn't seem to be broken anymore. She had healed it, if only partially, enough to where it would survive. After, Sully felt a bit tired and slept for a few hours. It was the first time she had used her ability, but not the last.
Sully began testing her ability, trying to control it, and heal those around her as discreetly as she could. The more energy she used to heal people, the more tired she became. She also learned, after falling off of her bicycle that she couldn't heal herself and instead had to get stitches.
When Sully was seventeen, she and her father were attacked by a skinwalker. Skinwalkers are witches who are able to take the form of animals. This particular one was in the form of a bear, and it's eyes shown bright red. It broke through the door, with razor teeth and sharp claws. Sully tried to get away, but the skinwalker hit her with it's gigantic paw. It's claws tore into her shoulder and then it knocked her across the room. She didn't have time to scream before darkness claimed her.
Sully awoke to find her fathers bloodied body on the floor, already dead. The skinwalker was gone. Sully herself was injured, having lost a lot of blood, and barely able to keep her eyes open. Grabbing the phone she called 911, and then passed out again.
The police called it a bear attack. While she was in the hospital, Sully fell into a trance, going on her first spirit walk. In the 'other realm' as she likes to call it, she met someone who told her what the skinwalker was. It showed her the truth, and guided her towards the path of a hunter. Now, whenever she needs advice she goes for a spirit walk, though it's never the same twice.
At eighteen, Sully left home. She picked up tips and tricks while working at run down diners and off the road type places. Including things about the supernatural and the tools she would need to pick up along the way.
Sully saved up enough to buy an old model, blue Chevy truck. She put a tool box in the back and hollowed out the bottom to put all her tools in. She makes extra money by hustling, winning archery tournaments, and sometimes taking an honest job now and then. In the mean time she's off hunting whatever her comes her way.
She had been hunting for nearly nine years when she ran across the infamous Dean Winchester. Sully keeps mostly to herself, so she'd never heard of the brothers. The first meeting was a hunt to kill a Mara at a Rodeo. Dean trying to be a bronco rider and failing miserably at it left him with the permanent nickname of 'Cowboy' from Sully.
It wasn't long after that Sully found herself in a bad situation. She had long been looking for her mother. Sully didn't have friends or people who were close in her life so she didn't tell anyone about it. When she found her mom, well being tortured in a bunker in the middle of the desert wasn't what she had been expecting.
Anna, her mother was insane and a skinwalker. She thought that Sully was one as well, a born one, not turned. She thought that by torturing her daughter within an inch of her life, that Sully would embrace her inner beast and turn.
It didn't happen though, and it was lucky for Sully that Dean had gotten the message she'd left on his voicemail. How he found her, well honestly she didn't know, but they spent a lot of time locked down and getting to know each other. Sully never would have expected it from the way they bickered and fought.
To this day Sully's never spoken about what happened down in the bunker for the months her mother tortured her. Not even to Dean. She tries to keep it behind her and focus on hunting and averting the apocalypse.
They did manage to divert the apocalypse. That year was a roller coaster of emotions for Sully. She and Dean had been cursed, and fearing that they would lose each other finally gave into their urges and slept with each other. Sully remained close to him, standing by his side, helping him in hunts, trying her best to be the rock for a man who was falling apart, even if no one else could see it.
On top of that her father was brought back from the dead and had no problem twisting his way into Sully's life making her do unspeakable thing. She became addicted to SD (Sweet Dreams) once more. This was after she managed to get herself free of Jordan's clutches. Who knew that after that, she would meet her real father. Alex O'Niell. Sully didn't know why they were trying to stop the apocalypse, it was already hell on Earth for her.
Apparently Sully and Alex had no idea of each other's existence. Alex had a one night stand with her mother shortly before being shipped off in the military. It was only recently that his spirit guides had showed Alex his daughter. Sully was pissed seeing as how the spirits told him everything. She was a very private person, and besides it wasn't quite fair that she didn't get to guilt trip and make the man who had abandoned her feel bad. Maybe it was a twisted view, but Suily had a lot to be bitter about.
Sully was reluctant to trust this new man in her life, even after he practically kidnapped her and held her hostage until she was clean of the SD. They talked, but Sully didn't buy into his bullshit. Though they kept in contact, Sully also made sure to keep her distance. She was curious about Alex and her sister, Jackie, but more so she was jealous. Jealous of the life they had, the one she was supposed to have, but was instead left with psychotic and abusive parents because the spirits opted to wait before telling Alex about her existence.
It was just one more reason Sully thought she wasn't worth it. After leaving Alex, Sully went back to what she did best. Hunting. It was coming down to the wire, and the Winchester's needed help if they were going to avert the apocalypse. Sully was going to be there whether they liked it or not. If she was really lucky, maybe she could sacrifice herself for something worth while and have made a good impact on the world for once.
After Sam fell into the pit everything changed. Maybe not for the general population, but for anyone who was involved, for anyone who knew Sam Winchester, their lives were forever changed. Dean – not willing to give up on his brother despite what promises he had made – went on a quest, trying to find some way to get his brother out of the pit. Sully knew how devoted he was, and there was no way she was letting him do this alone. So, they set off together, trying to find some way to bring back the man they’d all lost.
They scoured old tomes, drove across the country, taking hunts along the way as they searched for some bit of information to help Sam. Two months into it, things took a turn for the worse. Dean and Sully were lured into a trap. An old monster with a grudge against the Winchester’s saw his chance to rid the world of the last remaining one. He rigged a warehouse to explode and laid in wait. Sully and Dean thought they were meeting with an informant who had some insight into the pit.
They weren’t stupid, and split up, Sully going around the back. Unfortunately, neither of them expected a bomb, and so Sully had been just outside the back door when it went off. She went flying, the muddy river bank being the only reason she’s still alive. It cushioned her fall, but there was still significant damage.
That would be the last time Sully saw Dean. When she woke a week in the hospital, he was gone, instead it was Alex – her biological father – sitting next to her bed. Dean had called Alex, and then he had left. It broke her heart that Dean would leave her like that. That he would take off like everyone else in her life had – the one thing he promised he’d never do. Unfortunately, as Alex pointed out they didn’t have time to dwell on that at the moment. Sully was still injured.
Her left calf had been badly burned, third degree, and would take an extensive amount of time and treatment to heal. Even then there was no guarantee that she would get full use of the limb back. Sully was used to hearing that. She had been told that twice with her shoulders, but Sully was stubborn. She always got use of them back.
Alex though, pointed out it would still take a long time and suggested that they bring in Jackie, Sully’s sister – who she’d never met before. Jackie was also a shaman with a better grip on her powers, and a life Sully would never had. As much as she’d been trying to avoid meeting Jackie, she knew that Alex was right and let him bring in her sister. It was awkward, Sully was snippy and defensive. It was a brief meeting, Jackie realizing that with everything else her presence would only make things worse. After healing Sully’s leg as best she could, Jackie left.
Sully was left with a badly scarred leg, but full use of the lower limb. It still aches, but she’s used to that. It’s manageable and Sully could get back into hunting. Alex wanted Sully to come with him, but after Dean leaving, Sully was wary to trust Alex – more so than she had been before. Everyone who was supposed to care about her kept leaving, kept hurting her, and Sully wasn’t sure she could take much more of that. Instead, she set off on her own, like she had in the beginning. She could have gone after Dean, but in Sully’s experience, going after long lost family members never quite worked out in her favor. If Dean didn’t want her around, she imagined if she went after him it would end badly for her.
Unfortunately Jordan Sullivan, the abusive bastard who had raised her, always did know how to find Sully. He caught up with her about a month after Sully took off on her own. Except at this point in her life, the ragged hunter didn’t care, nor did she want his approval. When Jordan came after her – Sully finally ended it by putting a bullet right between his eyes. Then she salted and burned his bones to make sure he stayed dead this time. If there was anything just in the world, Jordan Sullivan was rotting in hell again. Sully imagined that she wasn’t far off from joining there.
Unfortunately, the aftermath hit hard. The desire to go out and find a dealer that could give her a hit of SD was great. It was all she wanted to do, all she wanted to get lost in. Instead, she called Alex. If he was sitting around waiting for her call, Sully didn’t know. It had been two months since she’d seen him at this point, but he was quickly there for her, taking the utterly lost woman into his home. Sully didn’t know if he expected anything in return. He never asked for anything, but Alex did have an opportunity for her – if Sully wanted it.
Alex brought up the Hounds. An elite unit of hunters – some military, some not – who would be funded by The Power’s That Be. Mainly a group of wealthy benefactors who knew the supernatural existed and wanted a force out there dealing with it. Sully didn’t like the thought of answering to anyone. That was quickly made easy enough for her. The only person she has to answer to is Alex – and that mostly for updates and the like. In the field, Sully runs the show. She doesn’t have to ask permission which is the way she likes it.
With Alex’s help they put together a small group. It’s only a total of three at the moment. Sully, Eliot Kincaid, and Patricia Winters.
For the last six months, The Hounds have been traveling across the country, hunting, cleaning up messes, and doing their damnedest to put a hurting on the evil sons of bitches in this world.
