Before being possessed by the demon Ruby, Sydney was a pretty great girl. She was bubbly, kindhearted, with that stereotypical southern hospitality. Though she was a bit of a smartass, it wasn't nearly as bad as it is today. The last few years have been pretty shit-filled, and she's been thoroughly broken. Numb is one of her main emotional states, and when she is overwhelmed with her emotions, it's the state she often switches to. Syd isn't so much cold as she has a wall built around her heart.
She's bluntly honest and if her opinion or honesty offends you, she will shrug and arch an eyebrow, because if you haven't wormed your way into her heart, why should she give a shit? She's prone to bursts of sharp-tongued anger. And while she used to be as sweet as pie and as anti-violence as Gandhi she is now operating under rare bouts of red-hazed violence that frighten even her.

Aside from being a wreck, somewhere deep down are pieces of the girl she used to be. If she is capable of helping someone who needs it, she'll do what she can, though she'll do it grumbling and eye-rolling the entire time. As much of a loner as she seems, she can't stand to be alone. Like a dog left at home when she gets bored or anxious she becomes destructive. And that metaphor can be applied quite literally.
Sydney's got an insane creativity, having practically been born with a pencil in her hand. While her career went in the direction of her photography, she still draws...even if they are sometimes horrible twisted images from her possession and turning. Seeing new places has become a kind of hobby to her now-a-days. She takes photographs where ever she goes, and through her family she's able to collect income from it, which is good for her traveling. She despises demons and if she catches a whiff of them in her vicinity she becomes consumed with an intensity and a determination to rip them to shreds. This coming from a girl who once was a sworn vegetarian and nonviolence activist.
But as wrecked as she is, she would give the world to go back to her old life, get married and have babies and just rock it apple pie style. But, being what she is, there's not much chance of any of that going down. She doesn't know exactly what she is or what it means for her, because no one has explained it to her. She's living in constant fear that a switch is going to go off and she's going to start chewing on humans, or that she'll accidentally infect someone like she has an STD. So she keeps herself distanced emotionally from people and physically from relationships, until she can find out exactly what she is and what it means for her life.

history

Sydney was born and raised in an adorable little town named Wimberley. Like seriously, there was a town square and everything. Being a tiny tourist town, there was always a job to be done, especially on her family's farm. Yes, I know, a farm. Her father, like Syd, had a love of animals. It was practically a sanctuary. Her mother was a born and bred artist. From painting, to sculpting, to photography, she excelled at it all. Syd, though, found her calling in drawing and photography.

Growing up in Wimberley was pretty much like any small town texan song/story/movie you've ever heard/seen. She was a tomboy as a kid, until she came into her pretty blond looks in high school, where she became a cheerleader until an unplanned pregnancy at 18. Naturally conceived during prom. She planned on giving it up to a loving family who were more prepared, but the father fought and begged her to have it and give up custody to him. And being young and overwhelmed, she agreed. She gave birth to a baby girl, and promptly signed over custody. Very shortly after, him and her daughter moved away and Sydney tried to move on with her life.

Syd's career after graduation was at the local newspaper as their photo journalist. She excelled at it, and even got a job in the nearby city of Austin when she was 22. It was on an assignment that she suddenly found herself incapacitated, looking through her own eyes like watching a movie. She'd been possessed by that bitch of a demon, Ruby. For a year she suffered the torture that demon inflicted on her mind and body, always watching, always unable to call for help or warn anyone.
The demon obviously was not as good or as chock full of humanity as she let on, and when she couldn't do what was in her nature to do in front of the Winchesters, she took it out on Sydney. So that by the end of that year, when Lilith ripped Ruby from her, shoved herself in, and then tore back out, she was nothing but a shell of her former self. They found her, abandoned in the midst of that blood splattered house. Her body had been left to die, and if she hadn't still had some tiny bit of fight in her she would have. She was in a coma for a month, and kept in intensive care for weeks after that. No one knew who she was and she wasn't talking. When, finally, it was time to leave, the only thing she left was her medical insurance.

After that she was so numb and broken that she just wandered through the city streets. There were periods where she would pick herself up, dust herself off, and try to get her life back together, but then something would trigger a panic attack of sorts, and she'd be back out on the streets. About a year ago she started in on drugs. For months she wasted her life away, fully intending to go out like a dying fire. But one night she was tripping in an alleyway, the drugs obviously taking her life away, when someone (something) stumbled upon her. He looked on her with pitying eyes, a master at recognizing a broken soul. He watched her fight him as he tried to lift her into her arms, fully intending to hospitalize her or try to get her help. It was when her nails raked through his cheek that he saw her fighting spirit and how little she really wanted to die. He saw that she would need her world knocked off it's axis before she could get it back on track, but having gone through his transformation, he hoped his loop connection could help. So talking the girl aside, he bit into her just enough to cause the infection and then proceeded to check her into the hospital.
Sydney was checked into a rehabilitation center, and within weeks she'd gone through withdraws and started to piece back her life. But she never figured out who that man was, and she never saw him afterward. It was only days later that the moon forced her into her first shift. It was torture, her bones cracking, muscles stretching, and her whole body contorting to fit the shape of the wolf. It was an understatement to say that finding herself all furry shocked the hell out of her. And it was just like the Loup had predicted. It turned her life around. She went home, finding that her father had died. After mourning, she got herself back on her feet by mending things with her mother and getting their farm all squared away for her. And then taking her life's savings, she headed out and began the search for closure and vengeance. Almost a year after being turned she's been searching for people who are like her, as well, who can explain what the fuck she is. Because as far as she knows, she's a werewolf, can only turn on the moon, and has to be chained up to keep from eating human hearts.

RP SAMPLE

With dirt under her feet, the blond swallowed hard and blinked at the offending light of the sun. She smacked her lips, trying to relieve the disgusting morning taste from her mouth, only to find it was tinged with the metallic taste of blood. In that instant her entire body froze, pupils contracting with fear. Had she murdered someone? Torn apart some sweet family on a camping trip? Grey eyes whipped around her surrounding area, searching for any human limbs or tell-tale signs of a massacre.

Sydney's shoulders heaved on a sigh, the whole world being lifted from her shoulders at the sight of the rabbit carcass. The manacles from her shackles clinked as she moved towards the tiny body, reminding her that if she didn't want this to be a human next time, she would need to get stronger restraints. Licking her lips and flicking her eyes around her area once again, the blond stood and began following her own scent trail to her car, thankful her wolf senses allowed her to at least do that. She hoped to meet someone like her soon, just to know what she was and wasn't capable of. She needed to know what limitations were going to have to be placed on her picture of a normal life.

It wasn't long before she was back at her vehicle, a sense of safety running through her. That was, until she rounded to the drivers side. If she'd still been in her wolf form, her hackles would have been up. She sneered at the male leaning against her car, grey eyes cold and steely. "You." she snarled, arms crossing over her chest in both a gesture of defiance and self-protection. "What the fuck do you want?" Even she was astounded by how pissed off she sounded towards a man she'd only met once. But his was a face she would never forget her whole life. "Did you track me down to finish the job? Fantastic determination, for a piece of shit." Okay, she was really mad, but who could blame her. This was the guy who'd attacked her. This was the man who'd ripped any shred of normal she'd have any chance of away from her. The werewolf who'd turned her.

Hey Denosaur, welcome to Swan Song! Since this is an app for Ruby's original vessel I'm going to have to speak with the other admins about it and see if it's something we want to allow. So please have some patience and bear with us.

Also while I'm doing that I would really prefer if you elaborate on your RP sample and give us some interaction or a bit more so we know how she's going to be in the RP.

Thanks!

Sully

I have slept, so I'm fully capable of making the post (hopefully) a little better.

As for the vessel thing, I completely understand. I hope it's okay, cuz my reasoning was that we never did see what happened to her.

Edit: Done! I hope that's better. I'm sure she'll be a little more interactive when I have her plotted and stuff.

Okay, so we're going to tentatively allow this character on a trial basis, but first we're going to need some edits. The fact that she was a drug addict is fine, but really there should be some more details about the whole loup thing. That's sort of vague and really random. Considering she was already a demon, we need more of a "I'm going to bite you to save you from drugs," Explanation. It just seems really random and rushed. Basically you need to elaborate on the history and timeline to make it flow smoother.

So once you've done that we'll review again.

SYDNEY MERCER - February 3, 2012 06:23 AM (GMT)
I hope that was a little better. The loup who turned her will be making an appearance when i request him, so he's not completely gone.

As for her "already being a demon"...she wasn't ever a demon. She was possessed by one. Just like Sam, John, Bobby, Samuel, Lisa, that little girl Lilith possessed, and tons of other people. None of them were demons, or had any demonic abilities afterwards (not counting Sam's antichrist-ness), and after/before their possession bad things happened/had happened to some of them. Syd's just been pulled through the wringer, lol!

I really like her, and I hoped you guys would to. I really hope this edit is okay, because I dont believe I have it in me to change her. :\

This is still a tentative acceptance on a trial basis. We'll see how it goes for a week and go from there. Also the word play on she was a demon/possessed by a demon, I meant the same thing. It's still very much random and rare from one to go from being possessed by a demon to being randomly bit by a loup who takes pity on them for being a drug addict. That was why we wanted you to elaborate on what happened. Once again this is on a trial basis. Welcome to SS!
