Madame Sassy stood before the floor mirror and frowned. No. She wasn't frowning at how she looked. She looked perfect, of course. Her skin tight skirt hugged her very female curves. She tossed the boa again. It skimmed across her bare shoulders.

No. She was frowning at her feet. Her adorable pedicured feet just didn't look right in the matching shoes. No. Her feet were nice. It was the shoes! They were soooo last month. She needed new shoes for her Halloween costume.

"Francisco!!!" She called into her cavernous walk in closet. "Francisco, Honey! I need my limo. Now."

Sassy turned from the closet and saw Speck lounging on the chaise. "Oh blast! I'd forgotten you were here." She took a couple steps toward the troll. "What do you think, what kind of shoes should I get?"

Speck snickered and gazed down at her own bare feet. "Honey, you're asking the wrong troll about shoes." She wiggled her toes, all fifteen of them. "Go barefoot, let 'em worship your feet and carry you around."

Sassy pondered the idea of men worshipping her feet for a couple minutes then shrugged. "Nah, I need shoes."

Francisco strolled around the corner like Rico Suave but Sassy would have none of that.

"Dahlin' boy, if you insist on being macho, then you better be slicker than that. Now get over here and escort me properly."

Firmly but gently put in place, Franciso took the delicate hand of his Madame and kissed it with adoration dripping from his lips. Without another word, she allowed him to place her hand in the crook of his arm and parade her past the troll's chaise.

Speck's eyes rolled into the back of her head. "Told you they all worship you," she shouted at Madame's back.

Pedro saw Francsico and Madame approach the front door and hurried to open it for them.

"The limo awaits, Madame" he grinned hopefully and eagerly.

"Thank you, Pedro." Sassy hid a grin. Her newest houseboy was adorable but needed taming. "Be a dahling and take my friend Speck a fresh plate of chocolate cookies."

"Yes madame. Right away."

Francisco and Sassy reached the long slick white limo and Francisco opened the door for Madame.

She slid into the smooth white leather.

"Which store first, Madame?" he asked.

Sassy trailed one panty pink nail down the side of Francisco's face as had become her custom before entering the limo. He already understood that she didn't have an immediate answer but would provide it in a moment. She settled her lean legs into a comfortable position and began tapping her pink nails in thought.

Francisco slid behind the steering wheel and drove the half mile to the main road. Ever so often, she saw his eyes steal a glance in the rear view mirror.

"Oh dahlin' I know the perfect thing to buy my friend Trollie. But of course it's been quite a while since Ive seen her in such a wonderful creation. Tell me Francisco, where do they sell troll shoes?"

Meanwhile....

Speck dozed on a chaise lounge beside the pool only to be awakened by the heavenly aroma of chocolate. She stretched and sat up just as Pedro appeared with a platter of warm cookies.

"Oh Pedro!!! Those are just what I wanted." Biting into a warm melty cookie, Speck moaned contentedly. "Who needs shoes when they have chocolate."

Near Shoe Row, a tall lean latino stood one hand on the display window, a tear rolling down his cheek. The cashier behind the glass held a feather duster in her hand and the man caught his breath before rushing away. He had to find his Sassy girl.

Francisco pulled the long white limo into the open spots in front of Gallardo & Robert's Elegant Footwear store. A doorman hurried to open the door of the car for their best customer.

"Madame Sassy! How delightful to see you!"

"Thank you, Franklin." Sassy said as Francisco took her hand and helped her out."

"What shoes are you looking for today?" Franklin asked.

"Why it is Halloween and I must have the perfect heels for my costume!" Sassy said as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. She caught a sudden movement out of the corner of her eye. It came from near a parked car in front of another favorite shoe store across the street. She turned just in time to see a tall back and dark curly hair hurry into the cafe next door. She frowned. Could it be? Sudden memories of laughter, heat, and a feather duster took her breath away. She closed her eyes for a moment.

"Madame? Are you all right?" Asked Francisco as he took her arm for support.

Sassy took a deep breath and pulled herself back to the present. "I'm fine. I thought I saw someone I used to know."

Sassy took one last look back at the door and sighed. How she missed him and his feather duster. Maybe he'd come home one day soon. But for now, she had a mission...new shoes.
