He makes alot of interesting points but I wonder how many people think like him...I can see the advantages of making the "US's Wembley" Heinz Field but unfortunately I don't think it'll ever happen...guess it's ok to dream though haha.

I saw this today from a link on Mondesi's House, I commented on it at the bottom of the blog

yeah, he makes a few good points but a lot of things would have to change for just one game to be played on Heinze field...and before 19 people start bringing up the Roma match that was a long time ago! I know for a fact several people have tried in vain to get the Rooney's to okay another game on their precious field (which btw, we mostly paid for)

way to rip bob espo. where are all these soccer fans during Hounds games? support your local club first, and then watch the sexy Euro teams later at the pub.
i didn't see the Roma match because i was off in Connecticut and Philly watching Celtic. I always wondered how that went.

i really did meant to rip him so to speak, but it is a bit annoying imo, to call yourself a fan/supporter/whatever and then have nothing to do with your local side - sure the USL2 and the Hounds may not be the most entertaining thing going but the more people who showed up the better the atmosphere and the more fun the experience would be; that's how you grow the game, not by sitting at Piper's, picking a top 4 team and buying a kit from world soccer shop.com

from our standpoint, we have to support our local side in America, because if we don't the whole "experiment" of soccer in america will fail. but i am also proud to say that i support other teams and shed tears of joy and sorrow for them just as much as i do when the riverhounds go down or when they win in stunning fashion.

Let's put it this way, if you look where other team's national stadiums are, London, Mexico City, etc... there are sizable international populations in them. And yet Croatian fans are not outbuying the English for tickets at Wembley. We shouldn't pick the venue based on where hispanic people are not (because it's also usually an indicator that there is not much of a local soccer scene).
