While killing time this morning I did a little research. Did you know their was a soccer club in Erie?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erie_Admirals_SC
http://erieadmirals.org/npsl.html

Their is also a team with the great name of the Stoners. I want a tee shirt!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_Stoners
http://www.pennstoners.org/

Reading has a team, in the PDL, and with the expansion MLS team going to Philly it got me thinking. Of course their is the hated monkey humpers in Harrisburg.

If someone from the Hounds organization is reading this...how about trying to organize a home and away exhibition with each team?

A few years ago something was tried between Reading and Pittsburgh called the Keystone Cup. It was supposedly a way to generate interest...it didn't mostly because of little to no publicity and no fan support.

Now such a cup makes sense. You have the Army...Philly got the sons of Ben.

Done during the preseason it could generate a little bit of excitement, still allow a good warm up for all teams and possibly create something missing the last several years....actual press coverage!

If you think about it some it is a win-win for all parties. The only cost is travel and a hotel, plus 1/5 of the cost of a trophy.

Even if it's just between Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Philly it is worth the effort! Who is the better professional team?

:D :D :hounds:

True that!

One thing I am trying to do, and I think I could do a better job that Gimme Marketing honestly, is to promote the Hounds.

One way to do it it low cost stuff like this. I also know that the Hounds are trying to promote the Academy, it's the money maker.

I'm all for that...and again, it's a tie in for that as well. "One day little Susie and/or little Johnnie might play for or against an MLS team. Now if you could sign on the dotted line....."

I'd like to see us play a friendly @ Philly to open their new stadium...it's just that it's too far to drive and play the same day and then come home - we just don't have the budget to play away friendlies because of the hotel and bus expenses. You never know though, maybe we'll be getting an infusion of cash soon

I think we can convince a decent championship side to come over for a friendly or schedule a friendly with one that is coming over anyways... I mean Burnley who is in the prem played a friendly against Ventura County fusion a pdl team that plays in a High School, only a month or so ago. Why can't we see a second division team against the hounds.

I was chatting with an SOB earlier, and he's a member of the Son's of Ben.

Although he can't speak for the FO for the new MLS team in Phila, he thinks the idea of a "Keystone Cup" is a great idea. He even thinks the team be willing to travel to the burgh to put it on.

It's a nice tie in for the academy too, so hello...Hounds FO, you on the phone yet?

Back in the glory days in the old A-League (USL-1 predecessor), we did host Bayer Leverkusen, if I do recall correctly.
