A letter congratulating me for being hired as the new manager. Or not

Well, actually a letter thanking me for my support, as well as a team photo. Very cool of them, as they didnt have to do it. Im guessing all you other season ticket buyers will get one also.

Odd...I didn't get one.

Hmmmm......Guess they figured I come in and fire nearly everyone! LOL

EDIT - I did get one, but it got buried under the newspaper. When I read this quote above: A letter congratulating me for being hired as the new manager. I thought - Great idea!

Imagine my surprise when it didn't state that. This could have been a great marketing tool for season tickets for next year...with some tweaking.

I'm glad they took the effort to send something, again though, it could have been so much more. Another wasted oppurtunity.

Nothing about season tickets. Nothing about merch for christmas.

Think outside the ususal guys!

maybe they wanted to say "thanks" without trying to solicit everyone?

besides, it's kind of tough to offer season tickets or merch for a team in a league that isn't sure if they're playing in 2010

I'm framing mine and hanging it next to my signed kit !!

Precisely, just a way of saying thank you for the last season, all there was to the plan.

Looking forward to getting home and getting mine!

How I do it....just to make a point. This is just a first draft by the way.

Dear Riverhounds Team owner:

Yes, your a partial owner of the Riverhounds...because we are your team. You have supported us throughout the last season at Chartiers Valley throughout our peaks and down moments. We thank you for helping professional soccer to continue to impact Wastern Pennsylvania. This impact will continue through our outreach programs and our acadamies.

We the Riverhounds players and staff are proud to have the most loyal fans in the entire USL...not just the second division. As your loud and fearsome voices were heard not only at home, but in Edinboro, Harrisburg and elsewhere. Other teams marvel and wish they had our fan base.

We are proud to be owned by you, the fans of the Riverhounds. We are committed to repaying your loyality to us by building a team that you can be proud of, a team that palys hard ever night and that will win.

We value your support, you dedication and know your looking forward to the 2010 season as much as we are.

In this off season the Hounds need to build, we need to ensure that we do our owners proud! As such were offering an early birld season ticket package:

4 - Sesason tickets
4 - Limited edition - "Riverhounds Owner" T-shirts
$25 coupon off exclusive Riverhounds mech.

$75

((Then offer two other smaller packages for variety.))

LOL....true!

I didn't run it through the spell checker. Plus it was a first draft off the top of my head.

Like I said before and will continue to say...The Hounds need marketing! It can be something simple like this wonderful letter, which I hope I improved on!

I know a little something about marketing and offered my services to the Hounds last year, I would have given them cut rates on my services too, but they never followed up on my offer. They turned it down and went with Gimme Marketing. Which is their choice.

I don't think Gimme Marketing is worth a damn but that's just my opinion. :wank: Getting shirts printed up is part of the puzzel. Not the only solution. Websites, yahoo, facebook...again all part of the grand picture. You need to combine them and make them work for you!

Taking ten minutes to write something up was wonderful! Tying it into something that would have made the team a little more money...or gave it even more value would have been better!

Hate me if you must...but know that I am trying to make the team better. I love soccer, I want them to succeed. I don't feel they will if they continue down this path.

Rob, you have a lot of good ideas, but sometimes the way you present them is a bit harsh, tbh. You're definately entitled to your opinions and I love reading your views but I feel like you'd be a little less combative towards the FO if you had a bit more insight as to what their long-term goals were and how they plan to get there.

Fair enough.

It's my nature to be a bit combative when it comes to the sport in general. As an "old timer" I've seen it in it's glory and at it's worst.

I just hope that the team makes it.

Me, too, and I hope some major news about what's in store is around the bend. TBH I haven't completely read up on the USL sale, but all I'm fairly aware of is that there seems to be no definite league structure yet.

Maybe the USL needs to be the one at this point to take charge and say how things will be done, then the Hounds can have an easier time marketing their product for next year. The teams of the USL depend on the USL for a league structure. And we need to know where we are in that structure (assuming big changes ahead).
