2 games on FSC tonight.

Toronto at Puerto Rico at 8:00 PM. PR leads 1-0 after first leg.

DC United at Luis Angel Firpo. First leg ended in a 1-1 draw. Janicki pooped himself for the Firpo goal.

PR draws with Toronto 0-0 to go through and DC United barely squeaks by on penalties.

RBNY loses at home last night 2-1 to Western Connection of Trinidad and loses on aggregate 4-3...what a joke! The second goal from WC should have had Benny Hill music playing.

Dammit. I flipped the times for RBNY/WC and Cruz Azul/Herediano. I did see a good match, but missed the one I wanted (which didn't sound disastrous, either, but was still a loss).

So, is anybody left from MLS? What an atrocious tournament so far. I can't believe people who think we should petition to be in the UEFA CL.

DC, but there is already talk of using mostly reserves since they are concerned about staying fresh for the MLS playoffs

until the CL actually has some decent prize money or clout, it won't be taken seriously

True. I wonder how deep the prize money goes in UEFA, because it would seem we would likely be destroyed.

Houston and Columbus are left too, this was only the staging leading to the group stage.

I finally got around to watching the DC vs. Firpo game tonight on DVR. Of course it shut off with about 2 minutes left in stoppage time. Glad to see they got through on penalties. The way the Firpo penalty was taken was an absolute disgrace. (I would like to hear peoples thoughts on that). Also, its too bad Boyzz fractured his wrist because with all of DC's games coming up, i'm sure he would get plenty of action.

Tim, I agree, that PK was a joke. Marie and I just were in shock when the ref let it stand. The Firpo player jogged up to the ball and stopped and swiveled his kicking leg in the air and put it in the side netting after the DC keeper already went the other way.

Another fantastic night for MLS. Columbus gets smoked by Cruz Azul 5-0 (I turned it off when it was 2-0 10 minutes into the match) and DC United loses at home to Toluca 3-1. At least Houston tied, but still, fuck you MLS.

I turned in really early last night (coming down with The Swine), I'm almost glad I didn't stay up to watch this match. At least the Crew were taking this match seriously.

Now its just time for them to focus on the Supporters Shield and the playoffs!

Its funny now that if you just make a comment about coming down with Swine Flu everyone believes you.

You must have missed their first match in the group against some Central American team with a name I can't pronounce where they got housed as well. DC has been terrible the past 2 season in the CL.

For some reason I was thinking it was toluca both times, but you are right it was Marathon in the last game, so yeah we just suck.

Congrats to both DC United and Columbus for getting wins on the road this week. C-bus was especially impressive holding on for a 1-0 win a Saprissa.

Aside from Gaven's early goal, all the credit for the Crew's win goes to Will Hesmer. He made some fantastic saves last night. It was great to see Columbus put out a legit side last night.

Lenhart looked great out there as always ... and with a head band on he looks a little less like a Cabbage Patch Kid.

Ekpo went down hard in the 1st half, really looked like he'd banged up his knee pretty bad but he was back out there.

Robbie Rogers just wasn't connecting. That kid is hot and cold. (His sister is just plain hot though.) Hopefully once Schelotto is 100% again they'll get back to teaming up.

ATDHE had the Cbus link on for a while but it got taken down before the match, AFAIK. Drag. That would have been fun to see. I know Columbus is good, but they still strike me as the little engine that could, or something. Smallish market team from a still underdog league.

Nope. I caught the aggravating Dynamo match. Lots of action, but little to show for it.

Very happy for DCU, though. They've not been the franchise they used to be back in the day. Now that I have FSC, I need to pay more heed to the CCL schedule.

Already looking ahead to the next one, which apparently the Sounders qualified for with the USOC.
