So, just for the halibut, what would you guys like to see in a new stadium?

What cool features have you seen at other stadiums that you would like to see put into ours?

What is a feature that would really piss ya off?

My first suggestion is a soundproof box for all the pissy soccer moms, so they can watch the game, do their thing, and leave us alone :)

A pub on the grounds. Talk about your instant spot to watch MLS and USA matches.

beer, a better snack bar, maybe have some type of covering over the bleachers or a larger shelter for when it downpours.

It's been confirmed that I am moving out of state in 2 months (San Diego, not Santa Cruz like I thought), so maybe my opinion doesn't count for too much. But I'll let you have it anyway. :P

I want a good aesthetic (eye-pleasing) design. I want some sort of cover to shield fans from the rain (because I LOVE rain during a soccer match, but HATE being in it).

I want a central location, in the city of Pgh or an adjoining municipality.

Seats rather than bleachers would amaze me.

My favorite stadium in the USL I've been to is Harrisburg's. The only MLS stadium I've been to is Columbus, which I adored except for the peeling paint. Excellent sightlines and the steps weren't too steep.

While we are on that subject, where there's steps, there need to be railings.

All I can say is to look at other designs. Harrisburg, Columbus, Charleston...etc.

I'm going to agree with you on the sight lines at Columbus but going to have to say WTF about Harrisburg's stadium. That place is a dump!

Central location. not too many seats but seats on both sidlines with having the european cover. No football lines. natural grass. team rooms under seating. tie back nets. legit covered benches with 2 rows of stadium style seating. pub inside grounds. beer man walking around. actual vendors not snack bar. pro shop on grounds. 3 other fields on premises for practice and jr team matches. nice scoreboard with video screen for cool intro and replays.

large league one style covered grandstand on one sideline
all amenities under the grandstand (bathrooms, consessions, locker rooms, etc)
terraces behind the goals
room to expand seating on other sides
decent player benches like Rudy mentioned
beer is a must
bar on grounds would depend on stadium location
definately needs practice fields and tailgating room on the grounds

If you guys want I can sketch something up for you guys to present to the team management. I can't ever done stadium design, but I think trying to do it for the first time on a small stadium would be best.

mint !!

just keep costs in mind - a true "dream" stadium probably isn't in the books

i think the design has to be simple and expandable with an eye on costs

just some place we can tailgate and swear. i'm not picky. hot girls would be a plus.

i would love terraces and covered seats , but anything more than a pitch and bleachers is asking for alot in this city, imo.

Rumor has it.... maybe this is going to be a co-op between PA West and Riverhounds.

This is not confirmed, but apparently PA West is looking to build a new / big facility.... and the Riverhound's apparently have a really good relationship with them.

So... PA West has the funds, and Riverhounds have the pro team and staff.

At this point, I would just take something like Harrisburg has. Bleachers, grass, no american football lines, beer in stadium. I don't ask for much.

being as realistic as possible - how much would something like that cost? 100k tops?

that's like 3 seasons rent at CVHS

it would depend on who got ro run it and take in the revenue, imo

if I were the Hounds, I'd balk at it if I couldn't tap the revenue streams

Probably. It wasn't much of a "stadium" per se, but it gets the job done.

I would venture to guess a lot more then 100K. The stores that we design are pretty basic. Painted floor, painted walls no ceiling. They can cost up to 150K. I would have to venture a guess at 650K? you will probably spend 100K alone on design fees.
