I brought up Ekpo a few times last season on "Around the League." He definitely showed some moments of true ability last year. You're right though, with Evans gone he should definitely get a chance to see some playing time in pre-season.

With one year under his MLS belt I think this will be a good year for Ekpo.

the Crew made my day!

i received a phone call from the crew ticket office today. they were "concerned" because they haven't heard from me regarding tickets for this year. because they see that i attended ONE game last year.

well, i went on to tell this poor sap that i really dislike the crew, and the only reason i went was to see D.C. United kick their ass.
after a moment or two of silence, he said "well, would you be interested in coming back here to see D.C. United- they play in July"

Very nice! I'm probably on the Crew ticketing "naughty" list because I didn't renew my season tickets for this year. I ended up with a bunch that I didn't use last season when gas shot up to $16/gallon. This year I'm just buying match day tickets through HSH whenever I want to go out for a match.

I was getting the same thing from FC Dallas because I went to see the Dallas-United match while visiting my dad. I finally had to write a long e-mail to them telling them that I'd be happy to come back for another match but I wasn't going to be buying a season ticket package and travel down from Pittsburgh each week. (And that I supported the Crew anyway.)

:crew:

Oh, and when they mentioned the July 4th Crew-United match you should have been like, "sorry I'm going to Bermuda to watch two USL-2 matches."

Can't believe how sparse the crowd is in Houston for the season home opener. Support at least sounds good but wow, there are a lot of empty seats.

:crew:

Love that Rogers still hasn't lost his fear of taking a long shot on goal.

...

Just a few till the half. Meant to say, I'm not necessarily expecting a win tonight. Shitty offsides call against the Crew, they should be up 1 nil. First match of the season against Houston, I'd be happy with one point tonight.

...

I said one point, not none! Now is when the Crew need to rally and crack one or two into the net. (Gave up trying to watch the shitty feed from justin.tv, just listening to Ohio radio online.)

...

"It goes wide and Hesmer is furious with his back line." This is why Hesmer is actually getting paid what he deserves this year!

Great match for Marshall so far, glad the Crew were able to get him back from Germany. Too many "almost" injuries today, don't like hearing this during the opening match.

....

MVP!!!! Guille draws it even in the 81st. :crew: F this one point, I want a 88th minute goal from Gaven!

...

Final whistle and the Crew fought for one more goal until the last moment. Crew and Houston slip into the middle of single table with 1 point a piece and a zero gd. TFC is at least temporarily top of the eastern division with two eastern teams yet to kick off tonight (Revs) and tomorrow (DC).

Only MLS would schedule a match the night after international games. It is only a little less ridiculous than when they schedule games ON international dates like they did last Saturday. Hmm what match am I gonna watch, NE at NYRB or the USA-El Salvador match, it's a no brainer.

When! When will the horror end!

I missed the wrong half of this match. All I managed to get to see was Gino Padula being sent off for a Blanco dive. Then McTraitor scores and then some other prick in red puts it in the Crew net.

1st Half:

2nd Half: :bang:

Padula should have gotten a yellow at worst, Blanco manipulated the play and the ref like a hooker manipulates a 18-year old virgin.

oh hell...i'm becoming a Crew fan.

Don't put yourself through that misery. At least FC Dallas has a win. :D

TFC gets a win against KC. We're top of the East.
This should make for an interesting game next week when Cbus comes to T.O. I just hope we don't give the Crew what we gave Dallas.
