From wikipedia
"Amy Rose is a pink, young female hedgehog. Although Sonic is quite repelled by her constant advances to marry him, the two have been good friends since they first met in Sonic CD. Whenever Amy is kidnapped or in the line of danger, Sonic comes to her rescue. She is referred to as "Sonic's ever cheerful love interest" in a page in the Special Book in Sonic and the Secret Rings. In a page of the Disney Adventures March 2005 issue there was a gaming collumn called "10 Mystery Gaming Secrets" One question was asking why wouldn't Sonic confess his love to Amy. Sega replied, "Although Sonic is clearly interested in her, Sonic has always been too shy to declare his feelings
See Sonic has just been to shy to declare his feelings to Amy!"
Oh and another good place to get more people here maybe is Youtube.

I already knew that.
However, Sonic won't like her in the actual games.

I already know that SEGA's never going to actually do anything with Sonic and Amy... But If we're going to trust that quote from SEGA, than my personal theory was correct! Unfortunately, I don't trust Wikipedia very much.
