Break time at last. And time for lunch. Bella left the office and made her way to the teachers lounge. Nodding to a few of the students on the way. Not too many students had come to see her today, which was for the most part a good thing. Just in case anyone needed to reach her during break Bella had left a note on her door. And finally she arrived at the lounge. Digging into her pocket Bella pulled out some change, and walked up to the soda machine. She put the money in and choose her drink. Picking it up she looked around for her friend, Chelsea. She should be along soon. In the meantime Bella got a sandwich and took a seat.

Free from teaching at the moment Chelsea walked the halls heading to the teachers lounge. There she'd have her bite to eat and catch up with a few of the others, including her best friend. Not that they exactly needed catching up as they shared the same apartment, but hey.

Chelsea walked into the lounge and said hello to a few that were already there before going right up to Bella and giving her a hug. "How was your morning?" Chelsea asked excitedly. Oh. "Do you mind?" Chelsea held her hand for Bella's drink. She only wanted a taste. Besides, they shared everything.

As Bella was opening her soda she heard familiar footsteps, but before she could even look up arms were wrapped around her. Chelsea usually did pick the most inopportune times to give her a hug. "It was good Chels." Bella responded with a smile and a light pat to her best friends back. Oh! Release time. Good. Bella never had a problem accepting a hug or giving one to someone else when people were watching. No. It was more so Chelsea's grip.

Mind? Bella shifted in her seat just a bit. Well, she had asked. "Why not?" Bella said handing over her soda. "Remember, just a taste. Don't drink the whole can."

"When have I ever drank a whole can?" Chelsea questioned with a smile, and light laugh before helping herself to the can, and taking a drink. As she awaited her best friends reply Chelsea picked up the other half of Bella's sandwich, and took a bite. Hmm. Turkey. "Not bad."

"This reminds me. It's your turn to cook dinner."

"Fourth of July party last year, you-" Bella stopped mid sentence as she watched her best friend take the other half of her sandwich. Apparently the day had not phased Chelsea at all. Nor the place. She was still her same old self...taking half Bella's food. Like always. Went all the way back to the sandbox days. Bella held up the little bag of chips. "Why don't you help yourself to the rest of my lunch?"

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. What did Chels just say? Dinner? Her turn?

Bella shook her head. "No. It's your turn. I cooked last night. Don't you remember thanking me for the pizza?"

Bella smiled and picked up the other half of the sandwich and took a bite. She waited for Chels to say something on how she ordered it, and didn't cook.

"Thanks, don't mind if I do." Chelsea smiled giving Bella a nod as she helped herself to some of the chips. "I'd hardly call ordering a pizza by phone and having it delivered, making dinner." Okay, she paied for it too, but it still didn't count. Stove had not been used. "What about the fourth of July now?"

Chelsea took another drink. "Say, that reminds me, more dye came yesterday."

"What kind of project are you planning this time? Shirt? The thingy that hangs from the celing? Getting rid of those ripped cloths?"

Oh! Get rid of something!

It had taken him a while but he finally found the door labeled "Teacher's Lounge" and he released a sigh of relief as he stepped into the room reserved for the educators of Sky High. The school year was starting out rough, and not just for the students, it was equally hard on the teachers, especially the new ones to the school like himself. He looked around he room quickly, seeing s few teachers here and there and two ladies having a seemingly heated discussion about pizza, then he spotted his grail so to speak, the coffee maker had brewed a nice fresh pot earlier in the day and most of it was still there. He walked toward the coffee pot, the nectar of the gods awaited his arrival... He quickly poured himself a cup and added cream and sugar, seeing that the microwave was currently in use (and not wanting to wait a second longer for his hot coffee) he sparked a small flame in his hand and held it under his mug until his coffee was steaming, he took a small sip and returned it to the flame, repeating this process until the liquid achieved the proper temperature. He the ventured over to the table with the pizza and dinner conversation, he motioned to a chair as he spoke.

"Is this seat taken?"

Chelsea looked up from where she was sitting and smiled. "Nope. Totally free range at the moment." Chelsea gestured to the seat. Sit. Eat. Drink. Be merry! "How was your morning Mister Mickler? Any breakthroughs on making one of the students minds moldy?" Chels asked the second question a bit jokingly. They always had to mold young minds, so it was a bit of a joke. Not too many people got it the first time around.

"Get rid of? I'll be a monkeys uncle before I do that!" Wants me to toss out me things. Never! "As you know Chels, everything I have serves a function." Bella said as she calmed herself. She and Chelsea were always at odds with each other when it came to tossing things and keeping things. It was a centuries old argument they always had. It always ended the same each time too.

A voice broke through.

As usual Chelsea was the first to welcome someone. Isabella smirked at the joke. "Please Chels, that joke is so old it has whiskers."

"Nope. Totally free range at the moment."

Setting his cup on the table with one hand and pulling out a chair with the other he began to sit...

"How was your morning Mister Mickler? Any breakthroughs on making one of the students minds moldy?"

"Well...."

"Please Chels, that joke is so old it has whiskers."

He absentmindedly scratched his three day old stubble and hoped she didn't mean everything with whiskers was old, he was only twenty-nine after all...
Once seated he smiled at the both of them and turning to Chels he said:

"It's Milner actually..."

Then speaking to the both of them again

"...Not to many moldy minds in the class room, but the year has just begun..."

He wasn't sure if his lame attempt at humor would go over well but after the moldy minds joke one only has a few options available to show they have a sense of humor.

"I'm going to venture a guess and say that the two of you carry on with this witty banter quite often, which leads me to think you are probably very close friends as well as co-workers, am I right?"

He wasn't a mind reader, nor was he able to see things he shouldn't. He was just very good at reading people. He had always wanted to be a detective, but his powers prevented him from doing it professionally, he still enjoyed honing his skills when he had the chance though.

Chelsea laughed at both the joke and her mistake. "Sorry about that." Chels apologized. "And good one!" Why didn't Bella or anyone else think of that? One can only wonder. Chelsea wiggled her fingers at her head.

"Yes, by the end they'll be soooooooo moldy they'll reek with a stink!" Okay, that was lame too. Chelsea then went onto give Bella a hug. "You are indeed correct! Isn't he Bella? We grew up together and share an apartment. My half is of course the tidy side."

"Right Bella?"

"Yeah, yeah." Bella said as she elbowed Chelsea. Let go girl! Before I'm dead. "Quoting a movie line 'Act your age, not your shoe size'." Bella finally gave Chelsea a push, and almost pushed her out of the chair by accident. "Chels! So sorry." Bella had grabbed hold of her arm before she had the chance to fall.

"As for the minds, I don't make them moldy. I just help point them in the right direction. And as for tidy, yours looks like a hospital. At least I let my creativity show."

"Yes, by the end they'll be soooooooo moldy they'll reek with a stink!"

He chuckled then winced at the thought of rotten moldy rains oozing out of the students heads, had a brief thought about zombies (something he fears more than anything, regardless of how irrational it is) and hoped that it had simply been a failed attempt at lame humor and not that her power was to actually turn things into mold.

"You are indeed correct! Isn't he Bella? We grew up together and share an apartment. My half is of course the tidy side."

he had guessed right, although given that they acted more like sisters then roommates...

"Right Bella?"

He turned to look at Bella as he took another sip of his coffee

"Yeah, yeah."

seems like her pep pill was wearing off...

"Quoting a movie line 'Act your age, not your shoe size'."

he was about to say something witty to that comment when Bella pushed Chels and thus sparked a different topic...

"Chels! So sorry."

At least she had stopped her friend from falling, it might have been difficult to explain a fight in the teacher's lounge to the principal.

"As for the minds, I don't make them moldy. I just help point them in the right direction. And as for tidy, yours looks like a hospital. At least I let my creativity show."

He wasn't sure which was better, he had a great dislike of hospitals, but he was also fairly certain that "creativity" was a code word for messy...

"So do either of you think we'll have any problems this semester? I haven't had a chance to meet all the students but I've learned there are always a few bad apples that need extra attention early in the year, otherwise we end up with life long rivalries... and we all know those never end well."

After Chelsea was seated comfortably on the chair again Bella snatched her bag of chips back from Chelsea's hand, and started eating what her friend had left in the bag...which was not very much. If they were back at home Bella might have shoved Chels off the couch for eating just about the whole little bag. Not a mean push; a fun, and loving one.

Oh. 'Bad apples'. He should not have said that. Bella adored the young ones at the school, but Chelsea on the other hand thought of them as hers; in a way. Adoring the beans out of the students more than herself. Bella put a hand on Chelsea's shoulder to help her stay calm. Usually it was the other way around. Chelsea more so had to keep Bella calm.

Chelsea's husband to be was a hero before he switched to a villain, and ended up dead. The two were going to get married a few days after his death. They were twenty at the time and had been high school sweethearts. It was a subject Chelsea never talked about to anyone. She had just told Bella...once, and that was it. Bella had regretted that she didn't get there sooner so she could use her power to prevent her best friends pain, and scared heart.

"The students are all very wonderful." Bella said politely, and with a smile. She meant it too. Some of the students could be a little sneaky, but that was part of being young for the most part. "As for the 'bad apples', Chelsea and I do not believe there is such a thing as a 'bad boy' or a 'bad girl'. Just some of them are more so easily swayed than others." Bella replied gently as possible.

"As for problems, I've none at the moment, but all the students know I'm here to talk if they have a problem. I don't think we'll have any problems either. Not any real ones anyhow."

"Hey!" Chelsea said when Bella took back the lunch size bag of chips. Not that there were a whole lot left. They were Ruffles cheddar cheese. One of Chelsea's favorites...Bella's too. Most likely why her friend had picked them in the first place. She could have just asked for them back.

Chelsea was about to take a bit of her half of the sandwich when Mister Milner mentioned 'bad apples'. Chels felt Bella's hand go over her shoulder. It had a comforting, steady feel to it. Bella knew her all too well. Chelsea moved in her seat a few times as Bella very calmly explained how they both felt. She was doing a rather good job at it, if Chelsea did say so herself. Bella had sure went into the right field here at Sky High.

When Bella was finished speaking Chelsea felt the need to add something else.

"Every child deserves extra attention actually. Equal amounts. Some teachers might feel obligated to give extra attention to those who they think need it, however as teachers we don't exactly get to pick and choose, or shouldn't really. We're supposed to go out of our way not to show favortisem or appear that we are showing it." Hopefully that did not come out sounding offensive. It was not Chelsea's intent for it come out that way. She was just very sensitive when it came to the students here. Each student was unique. Each student mattered to her very much.

"I don't know how you teach your class, but in mine I do my best to give all that I can, and help all that I can. Each of my students is entitled to have the floor. As for problems I don't suspect any. As for not knowing all the students, I highly suggest you take the time to really get to know them...right down to their favorite color, even."

Chelsea then stood. "If you'll excuse me for a moment."

Chelsea politely excused herself and walked over to get herself a small serving of potateo salad with extra mustard.
