HI,
pass by a shop at clementi blk 352. Looks like a old bike shop, but inside they have a lots of old bmx parts. I saw a pair of gold DX paddle, which is just what i need for my built, but the boss refused to sell me. Saying that its for his own collection, but in his shelve I can see he have another pair of it and some other vintage parts. The boss told me he is not selling any of those vintage stuff as it is for his own collection. He even told me that he have 6 to 7 of nos bmx above his shop, and he is not selling as well. Maybe i dun have a sweet face, u guys there can try ur luck. Actually I am quite sad, even if he is not selling he can actually share by showing it us, who appreciate and love these vintage bmx. Btw anyone know about this shop? cos I can see he have a few kuwahara plaque on his shelve. Were they the distributor last time? Good luck. |

You just met the infamous Frankie, Mr Sunshine. Everybody who rides and collects vintage bmxs knows abt him, quite the personality. He has genuine Kuwie parts because he used to run a champion bmx team bitds. I have my fair exchanges wth him, sometimes if the planets are aligned properly he might sell u some gd stuff but most of the time... not. One of a few disgruntled old bike shop owners still plying their wears. But surprisingly in some very rare occassions, he can be pretty cool.

Taking it without asking the owner's permission is tantamount to stealing and I do not like to think of any of us being brazen thieves. Most of the time, we leave a note on the bikes we see, asking the owner that if he or she wants to sell the bikes, get in contact with us. We normally leave our contact numbers in the note, or if we see the owner riding the bike, we ask him or her if he or she is willing to sell the bike to us. many of the owners are attached to the bikes because that is what they have been riding for some time, especially old uncles and market aunties, so we do not press any further. |

Hey Konstant,
How did your hunt go? Ive seen the following: 1) Haro Master 99model (with bashguard) at Bedok North, behind police station - locked. 2) Kuwahara Exhibitionist with Kuwa Laser Bar at Bedok North also. An elderly man rides it but its mint. Apparently belongs to his son and hes not letting go. 3) ET Kuwahara owned by an elderly lady. A friend of mine ran after her and made a decent offer but she reclined. Apparently he wasnt the only one who made the offer and she declined all offers so far... 4) Kuwahara Bravo Pro (Black/Yellow splatter) - Kembangan Estate, owned by a foreign indian worker. Friendly dude but has no desire to sell it as his boss gave it to him. Slightly rusted but sweet and mostly original condition... Hows Flatland? Rosh |
