WIDBODE: LIFE THROUGH A VAMPIRE’S EYES
CHAPTER NINETY: Boy of the Night “Who’s there?” Sage called into the dark night, clutching a wooden bat in his hands in case it was a vampire who had come to take revenge. “Show yourself!” Teyla came up behind him. “Do you think it’s one of Them?” Sage took a step forward onto the small porch, “I’m armed, whoever you are!” They were quiet for a couple of heartbeats. They could hear weird noises coming from the trees. “Sage, that’s a baby crying!” Teyla cried and ran passed him, down the few stairs and out into the trees. Of course she completely ignored his, “No, stop! It could be a trap!” Sage didn’t hesitate to follow her, still holding the bat firmly in his hands. He found her crouched onto the ground, picking up a bundle of blankets and shushing it. Whatever it was inside the bundle, it had a huge set of lungs for being able to scream that loudly and being so tiny, he thought. “Oh, who could have left him here?” Teyla asked. “Do you think they’re coming back?” Sage looked down at the crying being in her arms and felt huge a wave of sympathy towards the little feller and also anger at whoever had left him there. “I don’t know,” he said, “but we should take him inside. Warm him up a bit.” “You’re right.” When they were inside the cottage Teyla told him to make some warm milk. He watched her feed the baby in silence, leaning on the door post. The baby had stopped crying now and was snuffling adorably as it was being fed. He had never wished for a camera more in his entire life. He wanted to keep a picture of this forever: Teyla sitting on their couch, bottle feeding a tiny, pink thing in her arms. She looked more at peace than she had in a very long time since the Vamp Meet. Sage went to sit down next to her. He slid his arms around her waist and looked down at the baby, resting his chin on her shoulder. “Isn’t he adorable?” she whispered. The baby was starting to fall asleep. “Yes, he really is.” They both sat quietly, admiring the baby for a few minutes, Teyla rocking the baby backwards and forwards slightly in her arms. “Makes you want to have one of your own, doesn’t it?” Sage said, which obviously surprised her. “You want to be a dad?” He nodded. “Good, because there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you… I’m pregnant.” She said it casually, as if it was the most ordinary thing in the world. It felt as if the wind had been knocked out of his lungs. He had not been expecting this at all. He let go of her waist, making small noises of amazement. “W -- wha --?” He swallowed and tried to catch his breath. “You mean it? We’re having a baby? For real?” Teyla nodded and smiled at him. He could have jumped all the way up to the moon. “No. Way.” He said as if he was still in school. “Yes way,” Teyla said, her smile even bigger. It nearly reached her ears. “You’re going to be a father.” Sage blinked at her for a split second, letting the truth wash over him. Then he hugged her (careful not to wake the baby) and kissed her lightly on the cheek. “And it looks like we might have another new member of the family too,” Teyla said meaning the baby, “I found this on him when you were warming the milk.” She showed him a torn piece of paper that she had in her hand. Five words had been scribbled on it: Take good care of him. “Hey, the more the merrier.” he said, taken aback, and gave her another kiss. He tried to shrug away all the questions and turn his attention only to Teyla and the baby. Questions could wait till later. Tonight was only about them. They were a family now, after all. The End |

Good stuff, Muffin. I have tears in my eyes. I'm sure that baby will be loved, but poor Sybell. She really should have gone to Don. I'm sure he would have taken them both in . . .
Brava! Congratulations on finishing the story! I hope there's going to be more! So many questions left unanswered. What happened to Ilsa? Don? Lola? Grey? Armin? Is Rafael actually dead? Did Bella get her husband back? I want to know! -------------------- |

I suspect a sequel! At least I hope so! And yes, poor Sybell! I had hoped that she and Domn would finally get together. Maybe in the sequel!
Very good story, Muffin! Really enjoyed your blend of humor, romance and suspense! -------------------- Current Quote I want to die peacefully, in my sleep, like my grandfather... Not screaming in fear, like his passengers. ~ Anonymous ~ |

Thank you very much, guys!
(By the way, SBW, I did squeeze a little scene with Arabella and her husband in the chapter about Lola loosing ... you know ... but I guessed that with the shock of the death people wouldn't take much notice of it -- I wouldn't. I thought it was a bit much to post a whole new chapter for that little bit.)Anyway, I'm going to post party pictures soon. So hang in there! -------------------- |

Well, so you did. I guess I was just too upset about Darsy to read it very closely. Well, good for Bella, though I still think she's a selfish cow.

That was great, Muffin. It got me to sniffling, too. The further adventures of Teyla and friends would be nice, after you finish Happy Families.

![]() "I vant to suck your blud." ![]() A toast between the higher rank. (Before Lola and Darsy spiked the drink might I add.) ![]() I wonder what she's planning. Rafael is dancing like an ape in the crowd, if you look carefully. ![]() Rafael slaps Ilsa Vella. This was after she had slapped him for dancing with his wife. They both went off crying afterwards. Lola's picture is so sad.
But the rest of the party, before the fire, looked like fun. Wish I could have attended it myself. -------------------- The Return of Pharaoh Farrow He's human, but he's not from around here.
