"Hold up, sis," Kai said, following them out. "I want to call a family meeting this afternoon. You free around two?"

"Yes, I'll be there. I just need to get Connor home to his family."

"My son was born yesterday," Connor told Kai.

"No kidding? Congratulations. We're due in a month or two."

"Babies busting out all over," Aidan said, joining the conversation. "Congratulations, in person this time," he said to Connor, giving him a hug. "How's Dante doing?"

"Fine, but this fairy thing's got me worried."

"You and me both."

"I'm going back in in case the prince needs me," Kai said. "This could get ugly." He left them alone.

"You don't think it'll come to blows, do you?" Sakira asked.

"Nah," Aidan said. "At least, I hope not."

Sakira conjured up her broom, but then shook her head as if to clear it.

"You OK?" Connor asked, putting his hand on her elbow.

"I think I'm too tired to fly," she said. "Pregnancy is exhausting." She yawned hugely. "Excuse me."

"No worries," Aidan said. "My car's right downstairs."

"You drove?"

"Yeah. Our house is right near the bridge and my souped up car's pretty tough. And the main road's still there, more or less. Not sure I can get you all home, though."

"Well, at least we'd be closer," Connor said. "Let's go."
