"You're injured," she said, looking him over.
"I'll live. Let's concentrate on you right now. I promise to go to the healer tomorrow." "You'd better." "I will." "Did you catch the bad guy?" "Yes." "That's AAAAAAAAAAHHHH . . . " "Thestia!" Connor bellowed. Thestia came in. "You think you're ready to start pushing yet?" she asked Katrina. "Yes, please." Watching his wife give birth, helping her, supporting her back and asking her what she needed, was as profound an experience as Connor thought he would ever have. They might have other children, later, but this was a rite of passage, for him, for her, for the child of course. At one end they were three separate people, a husband, a wife, an unborn child, and at the other, a family. When he saw that little head, full of dark hair, emerge Connor wept with joy, unashamed. He was a father. He had a family that he alone was responsible for. It was the most terrifying, gratifying, overwhelming feeling of his life. He would do anything to protect them. If he needed to, he would lay down his life for them. His life, his needs, were secondary now. It was all about this tiny life he held in his arms: his son. "Welcome to the world, Dante Patrick," he said, holding his son as Thestia cut the umbilical cord. "Come on. I'll introduce you to your Mama." -- The End, for now --- Read about the further adventures of Connor Patrick (and his family) in Parenthood, coming soon. -------------------- |

Great story, SBW! All the way through to The End. I'm looking forward to more of Connor's life with Katrina.

What a great way to end it. Finally the moment came that I've been waiting for since we first found out Katrina was pregnant.
