WIDBODE: LIFE THROUGH A VAMPIRE’S EYES
CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN:Trust No One
Teyla gritted her teeth angrily. So Armin had decided to forget the promise he had made to her and follow her anyway, had he? Once again Armin had proved that he could not be trusted!
“Do you know him?” Teyla asked Arabella through gritted teeth.
“Who?”
She jerked her head towards the vampire at the gates. “Him.”
Arabella shook her head. “Never seen him before.” So Armin had lied about that too. “He looks like one of Rafael’s gang though.”
Teyla started massaging her knuckles in her hands, her jaw set. She was going to kick some vampire butt.
She walked up the path to the gates, she did not see if Arabella followed or not. Frankly, she didn’t care. The only thing she saw was the vampire who’s butt she was going to kick and anyone who got in her way would suffer the consequences.
She pushed Sage aside (maybe a little too hard because he didn’t land on his feet), ignoring the annoyed look he gave her as he got up, rubbing his backside painfully.
“You!” Teyla said, rounding on Armin.
“Me.” He said comically.
“Dude, I’d drop the funny act, if I were you.” Sage warned over by a grave he and Arabella had hidden themselves behind, keeping their distance wisely.
Teyla poked a finger hard in his chest. “Don’t get all funny with me, smart boy! Why did you follow me? You made a promise not to, did you forget about that?!”
Armin rolled his eyes as if he was bored.
“Sorry to disappoint you, sweetheart, but technically I didn’t promise you anything.”
“Yes you bloody well did! So you’re admitting that you lied?”
Armin opened his mouth to speak but Teyla silenced him with a hard shove. She didn’t need one of his smart-ass comments right now. They where driving her crazy.
“You lied about knowing Bella. You lied to me in the cave. You lied about everything just to get me in bed! You
sick…”
She slapped him across the face, harder than she had intended. She heard an unpleasant crack and she thought she saw a couple of teeth flying through the air. It took her a while before to realise what she had done. She gasped and covered her face with her hands. The air around them was prickly silent. Nobody dared believe what they had just seen. Nobody dared to even breath (those that
could breathe anyway).
Armin slowly put a hand to his cheek, his eyes blazing.
“
Ouch!” he finally said, expression unreadable.
Teyla was on the verge of tears. This was so embarrassing. How could she let things go that far? She hadn’t planned on knocking his teeth out…
“I… I’m sorry, Armin.” She sniffled.
She turned and ran for it before anybody took serious notice of the tears streaming down her face.
She wanted to run, run far away from everything and never stop. How could she think he was the one? It was just a one night stand, nothing more, nothing serious. So much for love at first site. Armin didn’t want a serious relations ship with her. Who did? She was going to die old and lonely in a big, draughty old mansion that smelled of cats, with no kids or anyone to love her.
She heard someone shout her name behind her, but she ignored it and just kept on running.
