CHAPTER FIFTY:Desperate times lead to naughty tactics
“Shit,” she said again. “What's he doing here?”
Their eyes met and Lily swore she saw the tiniest smirk on his face.
“I'm gonna kill him,” Dirk muttered, letting his arms drop to his side, fists clenched into round balls, jaw set.
Lily quickly grabbed his wrists, put his arms around her waist and swivelled them around so that Dirk's back was facing the entrance, not hers. She needed to keep an eye on them both.
“What are you doing, Lily?” Dirk said angrily. “I want to see the bastard before I hit him!”
“Don't be so stupid. We're not going to let him ruin our night.”
Dirk was turning his head to look at Jamie, but Lily took his face in her hands and turned him towards her.
“Kiss me,” she said.
Dirk was caught off guard. “What?”
“Kiss me!”
“Lily, this is hardly the time for--” But Lily had pressed her lips to his before he could finish the sentence. She didn't stop until Dirk had relaxed in her arms. He kissed her back tenderly, hand around the back of her head. In the corner of her eye, Lily saw Jamie and Blondie take a seat by a table uncomfortably near theirs. She felt his eyes on them. A strange feeling of satisfaction bubbled through her body.
“I love you,” Lily panted. “We're not going to let anyone ruin our date, you hear me? Not
anyone!”
“But he called me a coward...” Dirk moaned.
“Who cares. You and I both know that you're not!”
This wasn't working. She needed to try a different tactic. Seduction, maybe... That always worked on guys.
She slowly slid her hand down his thigh. Dirk whimpered quietly.
“You're so naughty,” he whispered.
“I know.” Lily smiled. “Now you be a good boy while I go and powder my nose.”
“Power your nose?” Dirk looked amused, all thoughts of Jamie momentarily forgotten. “Doesn't sound like you.”
Lily rolled her eyes. “It's just a saying. Leanne told me to use it whenever I needed a wee.”
Dirk laughed. “Go on, then,” he said and let her go.
Lily walked to the toilets with swaying hips. She knew Dirk wasn't the only one looking at her as she went.
