EDUCATIONAL DECREES, (or, Da Rules!)

RULES



1. Please register your character with first and last names (middle name/names are optional) in proper capitalization, i.e. John Jacob Smith instead of john jacob smith. Thank you!



2. You must apply for a character before commencing RP. Once your character has been approved, grouped, and all relevant claims have been filed, the fun can begin!



3. Respect all staff, from Administrators to Moderators, and they will respect you.



4. Respect your fellow members! If you have a disagreement, try to reach a mutual accord. If that won't work, contact a staff member and ask for mediation. If that fails to work... it's a big board. You can post without having to deal with each other. We won't tolerate bullying, abuse or any form of stalking, either on or offline. Our members need to feel safe here, and like they can have fun here. Bullying will result in CthuLulu wielding her banhammer... and guess what? It's super effective!



5. God mode, god modding/powerplay/god mode-ing (whatever you prefer to call it) is not cool. Unless the other player explicitly agrees to it, and you have discussed the action beforehand, it is a punishable offence. We operate a three strikes and yer out rule. First you get a warning, then you get a second warning and a 24 hour ban so you can cool off a bit. If you then god mode a third time, it's banhammerin' time, and you can't touch this.



6. No, no limits on how many characters you make, providing you keep them all actively posting... but we'd like a bit of a balance. If we have seventy ladies and only one dude... he'll be a happy bloke, but I'm sure he'd like male company! Try playing a guy, it's actually fun. Also, don't feel restricted to cisgender characters. This is 2013, ladies and gents!



7. This is a HP universe RP set in the modern day United States of America. Most characters are OCs (original characters), but we do have a small selection of canons. As such, it's unlikely you'll see Dumbledore or Lee Jordan wandering around our boards... but it also means you won't see characters from Twilight or Homestuck or Underworld. Remember that, and try not to bring imports from other fandoms into our board.



8. Mary Sue and Gary Stu are 100% fine when you're 12 years old and writing a self-insert fantasy for yourself, but they don't work on RPG boards. Give your character flaws. Hermione Granger was a bossy control freak, Ron Weasley had an inferiority complex. We've got characters with daddy issues, alcohol dependency, physical flaws, mental illnesses, the works! It makes for a more believable character, which is important in a fantasy setting. The most interesting characters are the ones with weaknesses.



9. Wake me up, before you go go! If you need to go on hiatus for a short or long time (anything longer than 3 days), please let us know. We occasionally run activity checks, and if you don't respond we will archive your character and remove your claims unless we know you're away for whatever reason.



10. As it says! No wordcounts, but at least try to get two paragraphs minimum per post.



11. Super Secret Special Bonus Rule: CREATURE FEATURE and RUFUS REX are made of awesome and win. You should listen to them! Please sign off your application with a Creature Feature stamp to say you've read the rules/educational decrees.
