![]() The Tarot is highly secretive and will not reveal their secrets to outsiders unless recruiting, and even then they will only explain the very basics, and will do anything to protect their organization should someone threaten its existence. It is divided into two distinct groups – the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. Minor Arcana are numerous, easily replaced and usually young people whose skills can be used, but whose loyalty has not yet been completely proven. Major Arcana are older, dedicated members who have proven themselves through either blood, battle or both. Major Arcana members form decisions and rulings through a round-table style discussion, but three distinct cards hold final veto – JUSTICE, DEATH and JUDGEMENT. DEATH is the executioner, JUSTICE the jury and JUDGEMENT the judge. Ranks or cards are assigned based on the member's particular skillset and personality. ![]() ![]() The Fool Held by: Lee Connelly This card is usually assigned to the most recent witch or wizard to have been promoted from the Minor Arcana. They are full of possibilities, and maybe yet to discover the talent or trait that sets their permanent card. It is the card that has been held by the most people in the organization. The Magician Skillful, self-confident, a powerful witch or wizard, although this card is traditionally held by a wizard. He represents the gift of tongues, a smooth talker, a salesman. He is also clever with sleight of hand and healing. Often the “public face” of the Tarot, issuing their demands (styled as requests) to the government. The High Priestess Held by: Jules Lin The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. She knows many secrets, and is traditionally an older witch. The Empress The Empress card represents arts, abundance and creation. More often than not, a witch (and often a witch with children of her own) holds this card. She is creative and clever, coming up with ideas and helping to move them towards reality. The Emperor The Emperor is filled with enthusiasm, energy, aggression. He is direct, guileless and all too often irresistible. Unfortunately, he can also be a tyrant and be impatient, demanding, controlling. In the best of circumstances, he signifies the leader that everyone wants to follow, sitting on a throne that indicates the solid foundation of an Empire he created, loves and rules with intelligence and enthusiasm. But that throne can also be a trap, a responsibility that has the Emperor feeling restless, bored and discontent. Often held by a wizard. The Hierophant Held by: Samuel Ichabod The Hierophant is a man with a holy mission, a wizard who believes in education, knowledge, study and status quo... but who is power hungry, and willing to trick, deceive and wheedle others into believing as he does. He is mature, formal and sets a lot of store by respect. Often a teacher, or best suited to spreading the word of the Tarot. The Lovers Often a card held by a couple, but sometimes held singly. The bearer of this card is passionate and fiery, having utmost faith, trust and love for the Tarot's mission. Through love, they will come to the organization and be bound to it most faithfully, taking greatest pleasure in furthering the mission. The Chariot A cocky, self-assured and very successful witch or wizard bears this card. The Chariot is all about success and pride, be it in battle or debate, but is often only willing to win by honorable means. He or she has the willpower and drive to carry out the Tarot's aims, and is often very successful or wealthy outside of the organization. Fortitude Held by: Jared Hudson Fortitude is often held by our kindest members. This witch or wizard will believe that we can conquer the Muggles peacefully, and will urge the organization to pursue peaceful, non-violent methods to achieve our ends. However, their patience, self-control and discipline hide the inner strength that is necessary to take up arms should their peaceful methods not succeed. The card of the Dark Horse, the witch/wizard who seems like butter wouldn't melt in his/her mouth, but hides the soul of a fierce warrior within. The Hermit The Hermit is our deep thinker, who speaks rarely, and is heeded when he or she does speak. He distances himself from the organization in order to process, ponder and plan, and when he returns he brings with him his wisdom. Often a non-national, and often older and more trustworthy to the eyes of the world. Many come to him for guidance and philosophy, but only the Tarot receives his true knowledge. Wheel Of Fate Another temporary card, held by someone who has either matured enough to take on another card, or whose role in the organization has changed. It is the card of a turning point in the bearer's life, of opportunities, possibilities, destiny, fate and change. Justice Held by: Gertrude Siddal Justice is one of the three deciding voters of the Major Arcana, and as such can only be held by one who has repeatedly proven his or her loyalty in the past. She is blind to compassion and pleas, hears only the facts and is cold, impartial and clever. Her intellect, logic and objectivity mean her decisions are always fair, even if they seem severe or harsh. She carries her responsibility with solemnity, and can often seem distant or even unreachable outside of the Tarot. The Hanged Man The Hanged Man is the card of sacrifice and letting go. This card is carried by one who has sacrificed much for the Tarot, and whose surrender is greatly appreciated by the organization. He or she is patient, passive and accepting, often believing a course of non-action or conforming to the current government's laws being the best path or paths to achieving the ultimate goal of the Tarot. Death Held by: Copernicus Callahan As the second of the three deciding cards, Death is held by a long-term and respected member of the Tarot. He or she is the ultimate decision, ending cycles, concluding old beliefs and initiating new ones, eliminating threats and bringing Death everywhere he or she goes. He or she will kill for the organization, and will often be the one to not only aid in the decision, but to be the one who wields the metaphorical axe. Not a card to be trifled with. Temperance The Temperance card is traditionally held by a healer. She is our medic, healing our member's hurts and wounds, and often helps to heal our reputation in the public eye. She can bring together opposites, and even persuade the most staunch opponents to join our cause with her gift for unification, balance and recovery. The Devil Held by: Byron LeFanu The Devil is the most devious and tricky of our cards. It has been held for over twenty years by Byron LeFanu, one half of the Tarot's vampire twins. He is decadent, quick to anger and lust and instinctual, trusting his gut in times of doubt. He tempts and tricks members of the opposite sex, and even sometimes the same sex, to join the Tarot, using his physical body to persuade, tease and torment until his victims will do anything he asks just to get satisfaction. He is a most effective recruiter, and executioner when needed. The Tower The Tower is the card carried by one whose mind or life is in utter chaos. He or she has come upon hard times and disruption, and it can play merry havoc with his or her mind. He or she is utterly ruined in some way, or has gone through a drastic transformation. The Star The Star is a witch or wizard who is generous, trusting and optimistic. She loves Muggles, even as she knows they are beneath her. All are worthy of her love and good will, regardless of belief or birth. She is an inspiring member of the Tarot, reminding us all to keep our humanity even as we seek to take our rightful place as the ruling class. The Moon Held by: Drusilla LeFanu The card of the mentally disturbed, ruled by tension, doubt, lack of clarity and fantasy. For nearly a quarter of a century, it has been held by the female one of the Tarot's pet vampires, the LeFanu twins – Byron and Drusilla. This card is for only the most tormented and insane of members, and Drusilla fits that bill. She is clinically insane, but sometimes has inspired ideas that are of great assistance to the organization. She is often used, along with her brother, to carry out executions that Death himself cannot do. The Sun The Sun is the card of our optimist. Often one of our younger members, and is very enthusiastic and assured and happy in his or her new role. He or she is the vital new blood we need from time to time, and their positivity and energy will usually bring in more members for the Minor Arcana, and improve public image. Judgement Held by: Tristan Feardorcha Judgement is the last of the three veto cards, and as such is only held by our longest standing and most trustworthy members. Judgement signifies absolution, rebirth and new beginnings. Judgement believes in redemption and forgiveness, but is most certainly not a pushover or easy to deceive with falsehoods. He or she is the far extreme of the three deciding cards, with JUSTICE as the balance in the middle, DEATH as the extreme and final decision, JUDGEMENT believes in second chances and redemption, but will not hesitate to side with DEATH when necessary. The World The World card has not been filled to this day, and will only be filled the day we achieve our goals, and are granted the right to rule whether legally or not. On that day, one member will be promoted to this card's rank, and will be our elected official and public representative. ![]() ![]() The Minor Arcana is made up of four suits (Wands, Pentacles, Chalices, Swords) and two tiers – the court cards (King, Queen, Page, Knight), and the “pip” cards. Court cards are held by more promising Minor Arcana members who are tipped for promotion to the Major Arcana when the time comes. The four suits for the Minor Arcana are traditionally held by sorcerers or intellectuals in the Wands; tradespeople (healers, potioneers, translators, etc.) for the Pentacles; Purebloods in the Chalices and fierce, warrior-types in the Swords, although this is more of a trend than a strict rule. The pip cards are the lowest ranking, and often considered to be cannon fodder in the event of a fight. The court cards are the only ones allowed to address the Major Arcana formally. King of Wands Queen of Wands Page of Wands Knight of Wands King of Pentacles Queen of Pentacles Page of Pentacles Knight of Pentacles King of Chalices Queen of Chalices - Madeline Ansley Page of Chalices Knight of Chalices King of Swords Queen of Swords - Blair Dethridge Page of Swords Knight of Swords Wands 1-10 Pentacles 1-10 Chalices 1-10 Swords 1-10 ***IF YOU WANT TO CLAIM A TAROT CARD, PLEASE DO SO IN THE CLAIMS (CLICK HERE), AND YOUR CARD WILL BE ASSIGNED TO YOU BASED ON YOUR CHARACTER PROFILE.
