I am taffy stuck and tongue tied, stutter shook and uptight.
I AM READY. I AM... FINE.

[Summer 24th, 6:51 AM]

The little girl climbed onto his back a bit clumsy. As if she wasn't sure how to wrap her legs about him. Once she had fastened her arms around his neck, Sawyer carefully rose up and took to the road again. His arm was still sore but not enough that it made carrying such a slight girl like Grace any issue.

"You... You never told me you're name."

Unfortunately, with the girl being behind him, Sawyer didn't catch the question. He kept his eyes on the road ahead and kept walking. Eventually the white ear of what looked to be some sort of stuffed animal poked over his shoulder. Grace's then? But rather than comment, he kept walking.

It wasn't too long before he made it back to his farm. The first rays of the sun were cresting the horizon as he passed down the gravel drive. The house didn't look like much in the early morning light. Not that any light really shed favorably on the old dilapidated house.

“We're here,” He said softly, not sure if the girl he had been carrying had fallen asleep or not.

The ride wasn't as bad as she expected, she had expected the boy to actually toss her off his back or drop her on accident, it was a miracle it didn't happen in her opinion. Of course she was sleeping smugly with a large smile on her face as she slept, she really hoped she didn't make him mad either. She could see rays of light behind her sleepy closed eyes, and it bothered her but she just pushed her face into his back and closed her eyes again. She wondered where he lived, he had said he lived pretty far from the woods. It still made her wonder why he was out there in the first place.

    "We--- He--e"

Grace's hearing had fogged up just a little and she only heard partial words of what she said, and nodded her head softly against his back and snuggled her face back into his back. From afar, she could hear a howl, a long distant howl that quietly echoed in her head. But it was only her imagination, after living with those wolves for so long, if she ever left she would start to hear random things nobody else heard. Finally, she just gave up and closed her eyes.

    ....Again..

The girl pressed her face deeper into the back of his shirt. He guessed she wasn't awake, not that he could tell if she was. Detecting no response to his declaration, Sawyer proceeded down the gravel drive. It was tricky climbing the small back stairs and even trickery trying to open the door with a little girl on his back and one arm in a sling.

The house was quiet and dark but welcoming. The old scent embraced him just as surely as a family member would. Sawyer hesitated once inside, not sure where he would put the little girl. The guest bedroom, his old childhood bedroom, was currently being used as a makeshift storage. Sawyer wasn't even sure there was still a bed under all the junk. There was his father's room that Sawyer had yet to touch. And then there was the couch... that was currently Sawyer's bed.

Sawyer lowered the little girl on the couch and went to fetch a clean blanket and pillow for her to sleep on. He was gone for only a minute before returning with one of his mother's croqueted blankets in soft blue yarn and a mallard duck pillow. He tucked the snoozing girl in and then took the armchair next to her.

It would be an even more uncomfortable night than usual. And his plants would be a little neglected for the day. But Sawyer was hoping that after a good night's rest, he'd be able to start the search anew when looking for this girl's parents.

Sawyer's eyelids began to droop and before long he was lost in a deep dreamless sleep.

((OOC: Feel free to make it later in the day if you'd like. It's six in the morning at the moment so if you'd like to make time pass, that's your starting point. happy.gif ))

Grace opened her eyes slowly as she felt like it was a new morning (which it was) and sat up only to feel a blanket slide down as she shifted. It was a new feeling, being cozy and all that. She had never really slept like this once in her life and it was a whole new feeling for her, not knowing what to do she reached for the pillow and held it to her chest and kept her precious stuffed bunny on the couch. Not knowing where she was, she didn't know how to navigate around the house or anything. Obviously her eyes finally cleared up and she started to look around for that one figure she remembered from yesterday.

Instead of snooping around the house, she just sat down on the floor and held the pillow to her chest and looked over on the couch only to see the saddest sight a child could endure at this moment. Her bunny was torn in half from the stomach she was halved in two, Grace instantly went from tired to wide shock. How did it get torn!? Grabbing the halved bunny she sighed a bit and held it to her chest anyways.

Flinging herself every which way on the floor, she put the bunny on the floor and was trying to find ways to put it back together. Obviously she had no sewing material or anything, she she just tried to do the common thing a child would do: Start pushing the two halves into each other hoping it would magically stick together.

((It's morning I'll guess and If you want Saywer to still be sleeping just tell me lol, Had no clue what to do.))

[Summer 24th, 10: 54 AM]

It wasn't that much later in the morning when Sawyer found himself waking up. It had little to do with any noise Grace had been making. Sawyer was typically a sound sleeper. No, it had more to do with Sawyer's restless dreams.

He had dreamt that he was eight years old again, celebrating his ninth birthday party. It started out fairly normal. His family was there. They were cutting the cake... And then modern day Ian showed up, his arms laden with presents.

“Are those all for me?”

“You!” Ian laughed. “No, these are for my good friend Robert.”

BUT I AM ROBERT, Sawyer had screamed somewhere in his consciousness. And there he was, forced to watch Ian pace in circles for a friend that was never coming. Then party guest grew fur and teeth- becoming wolves by all appearances. They spoke unnaturally, taunting him for falling asleep and missing his own birthday party. It wasn't until his own father tried to take a bite out his head that Sawyer jerked awake.

It took a minute for his pulse to stop racing. He took in his surroundings slowly. He noticed Grace was no longer in bed but was in fact crouched on the floor fiddling with her own stuffed animal. Sawyer couldn't believe the little girl was already awake. He could still the feel the fatigue of last night still heavy on his shoulders. But Grace was a child... children could bounce back with energy that seemed to defy the natural world itself.

Sawyer eventually took note that Grace wasn't just fiddling with her stuffed animal. She was desperately trying to piece it together again. Her face was scrunched up in determination, tears slipping down her cheeks. For the first time since he had been attacked by her pets, Sawyer could actually say Grace looked like the six year old she was supposed to be.

“Here. Let me,” Sawyer said unceremoniously picking up the rabbit by its intact ear. “Mom keeps some sewing supplies over here somewhere...” He wandered over to the coffee table, pulled back a drawer and smiled. “Jackpot.” Then as if coming to the realization that the little girl probably wouldn't understand, Sawyer picked up a spool of black thread, needle threader and well used pincushion and said, “I can patch... Mr. Rabbit up. Won't be more than a second.”

As she continuously tried to push the body pieces of the bunnies lower and upper half together, hoping it wouldn't just stay like that anymore, it sadly never did. Her face began to feel more sad than angry about it like usual, It wasn't until she heard the scream she looked up before blinking and turning back to her bunny. More worried about the rabbit than.. Robert? He was just dreaming anyways, not like he was getting eaten or anything.

For the next few minutes.. She continued, trying to stick the halves together. Of course it never worked to her own sadness.

"Here. Let me," when the bunny was suddenly picked off the ground by it's ear, she looked up at the taller figure and frowned a bit sadly, hoping he could fix it better then her non-working method. “I can patch... Mr. Rabbit up. Won't be more than a second.” Suddenly a big happy smile spread across her face, it wasn't that she thought he couldn't do it, but at least he was trying.. Right!? She found herself picking herself up off the floor, holding the pillow from before to her chest as she set herself back up on the couch and watched him. "You can!?" She finally asked, a bit slowly.
