<BR><BR>
SIMILARITIES:<br><br>
Name<br>
Well I thought Bellance was the closest I could get to the creature name Beldam. As for her middle name, Arachne was the name of a girl in Greek mythology who challenged the goddess Athena to a weaving contest and in turn was turned into a spider for offending the goddess. Her last name is Dupuis because in the movie the title song is French, or at least it sounded French to me I apologize if I am wrong, but also Dupuis means "of the well or pit" which I thought was ironic because of what happens at the end of the movie regarding a well. A little fun fact too that I did not notice until a while after registering her: her initials are B.A.D.
<br><br>
Spider Like<br>
Bellance is a master weaver and seamstress. She can make pretty much anything and everything. She has magical fingers I guess you could say. However, she is also a master of weaving other things. Bellance can turn any story around to make her the victim and the other person a disrespectful child pretty much. She is an extremely manipulative person and is two faced to the point that it is only black and white for her.
<br><br>
Cougar Alert<br>
Pretty self explanatory ain't it? There is just something about a younger and more innocent person that attracts her. Gender does not even matter to her, because if they have those cute little helpless eyes then how can she say no? She enjoys to bring her victims under her wing and nurture them and care for them. However, once she gets bored then all that mothering will go down the drain. The whole process of luring in a very lost and innocent victim, manipulating and distorting them to her liking, and then cutting them out completely thrills her.
<br><br>
Let's Play A Game
<br>Bellance adores games. She finds a lot of enjoyment in them, and is always up to participating in one. She can never say no to a challenge so if you challenge her to a game she will not refuse. She won't exactly play fair though. Bellance is a major sore loser, and will do whatever it takes to prevail like the Beldam.
<br><br>
Must Hate Cats
<br>Bellance, like the Beldam, HATES HATES HATES cats. She considers them to be filthy vermin which should all be torn limb from limb. For Beldam it was because cats had keener senses, but for Bellance it is much more personal. When Bellance was young a stray cat clawed out her right eye after she tried to pet it. In the movie, Beldam's button eyes are clawed off by the nameless black cat.
<br><br>
The Art of Seduction, Manipulation, and Persuasion
<br>In the movie, the Beldam is all about fabrication. She creates a fake fantasy world and establishes a safe and sweet escape. In a way that's her own kind of seduction. It is not a sexual seduction, but it is a seduction. Also, the fact that she was able to get the three previous children to sew buttons on their eyes shows how persuasive and manipulative she can be.
<br><br>
My Loneliness is Killing Me
<br>At the end of the film, when Coraline escapes Beldam for the last time (minus the hand), the cat says that she either died of loneliness for not having someone else to love, or that she died of starvation for not having a child's life to eat, or both. The dying of loneliness theory applies to Bellance. She hates being lonely and hates feeling unloved, and both of which she got a lot of when she was a child so now as an adult she seeks for the need of companionship to be fulfilled. It is a subconscious want, but it drives the majority of her actions.
<br><br>
Habits
<br>This is just a small thing. At a couple of parts in the movie, Beldam taps her fingers across surfaces when she gets impatient or testy. Bellance does that too.
<br><br>
Ghost Children
<br>Another small thing, but Bellance did have three imaginary friends growing up. Two girls and one boy. As she got over her trauma they disappeared....or at least two of them did. One of the girls remained and still remains today. She is fondly named Eliza.
<br><br>
A Thirst for Knowledge
<br>I did some research on the actual Beldam creature and as it turns out she is based on the Belle Dame which is also known as the old hag story. According to the tale, the Beldam (or hag), feeds off the wisdom of children while they are trapped in her magical world. Therefore, I have made Bellance have a thirst for knowledge.
<br><br>
Reasons to Be Pretty
<br>In the old hag's tale as well as in the movie, the Beldam enjoys to make things into a perfect and flawless utopia. More specifically, she likes to make herself appealing to others. That's the same with Bellance. She becomes very upset when someone tells her that she is not appealing to them. Being appealing is a must for her.

PERSONALITY:<BR>
Bellance is a master seamstress. Sewing, knitting, crocheting, you name it she has mastered it. She is very good with her hands and fingers you could say. One of her favorite things to do is doll making. However, she is not only good at weaving and things involving hand work. She is also good at weaving stories. Bellance can turn any story around in her favor and make herself look like the better one or the innocent one. She hates being disrespected which basically means if you don't act like she wants you to act she will punish you.
<br><br>
Bellance loves to control and manipulate people, especially younger innocent ones. She has a little obsession with innocence and enjoys to play around with it until the person is not innocent enough to entertain her. In her own way she is a pedophile. It's not that she wants anything extremely sexual from the kid, but sometimes her playing does get to that point. She has yet to be caught though because of her ability to manipulate things into her favor.
<br><br>
Surprisingly enough, Bellance is actually pretty maternal. She will take you under her wing, and nurture you. When you are feel sick she will nurse you back to health. When you are hungry she will cook you delicious meals fit for the elite upper class. She will practically wait on you hand and foot and provide a safe and loving environment for you......until she gets bored with you that is. When she gets bored with you she will throw you out like a baby in bath water. One day you will come to her begging for guidance and she will just pretend like you don't exist.
<br><br>
It's not just young and innocent children she has an interest in though. She has an interest in people in general you could say. She is not an extremely sexual person, but it's no problem for her to get sex so why not get what she can? Also, she has a problem with being alone and unloved. She was neglected and abused so much as a child that now she will do anything to get the company and love she wants. However that is a subconscious want that she herself is not aware of.
<br><br>
Another thing about Bellance is she needs to be entertained. She hates being bored. She likes it when she stumbles across something or someone interesting. If she thinks you are interesting then you will get that maternal nature of hers, but then once you get boring she will throw you out like a used tissue as stated before. So basically if you are not innocent, but you are entertaining and interesting then she will like you.....for the time being.
<br><br>
Going along with the fun thing, she adores games. Bellance is always up for games, especially child games like Hide and Go Seek and Sardines. She can never ever say no to a challenge. She loves to win, but is also quite the sore loser. If she sees that she is losing she will play unfairly. Bellance absolutely hates to lose and will do everything she can to win.
<br><br>
As dependent on people as Bellance seems, she has her independent moments. It is not unusual to find her secluded with her nose in a book. She loves learning more about the world, it's a kind of past time for her. She likes to think it to be secret, but it's not like she tries to keep it a secret. She is fully capable of have a nice intellectual conversation with someone......however when make sure for it not to get heated. Bellance is not pretty when she gets fired up as she gets pretty violent and threatening.

<div style="width:350px; background-color:#ffffff; font-family:verdana; font-size:9.5px; font-color:#000000; text-align:justify;">
HISTORY:<BR>
Once upon a time there were two people who were under the delusion of love. The man's name was Walter Dupuis and the woman's name was Gertrude Hageman. He was a banker and she was a housewife. They did not have a grand life, but he got enough money to pay the bills and keep the household finances stable. Eventually they produced Bellance who later became the only one who knew the true realities of it all and also became their number one victim. In reality, Walter was a drunken mess and Gertrude was, at the time, an undiagnosed manic-depressive, paranoid-schizophrenic. Of course they were pretty good at hiding it, and they didn't even show each other these true colors until a while after their marriage, but they could live with it. After all they had this new shiny toy named Bellance to take out their frustrations on.
<br><br>
Bellance was abused daily in some form. Her mother mainly abused her physically, and even did things that were borderline torture if not torture itself. Her mother did all sorts of things from giving Bellance a nice slap in the face to chaining her to a toilet and forgetting about her for a few days. As for her father, he abused her physically, but not as much as he did sexually. From less than platonic kissing to molestation to actually doing the deed, her father did it all.
<br><br>
So as you can see Bellance had her own innocence ripped away from her at a young age. This is probably why she has such a fascination with it now. Anyway, during her years of abuse and neglect, she needed to create some sort of escape. This escape came to her in the form of three children; two girls and a boy. The girls she named Eliza and Ivy and the boy was named Lyle. If it wasn't for her imaginary friends she would have never made it through sane. Well, she technically not perfectly sane, but she is saner than she would be. She also treasured her few stuffed animals and dolls. In fact, those animals and dolls were what steamed her interest in making dolls and toys of her own. Since her parents would not get her anything she taught herself the basics by observing as much as she could from people she saw sewing. It took her a long while, but pretty soon it was how she spent her time when she was trying to hide from her parents. She also got help from her tutor.
<br><br>
Bellance never went to school, she had a private tutor, because having a private tutor made it easier for her parents to put her in long sleeves and hide their evil doings. Also, it was easier to have to deal with one person than it was a whole school system. Anyway, Bellance liked her tutor. He was the only outside person she really knew. Her parents tried to be as isolated as possible so she did not really have any friends, and her not being in regular school did not help that. Her tutor became someone she could trust with her life, but never in a million years would she ever tell him about the horrors she was living.
<br><br>
Then came the big event that changed Bellance's life. When Bellance was ten, she saw a cute stray kitten wandering around the property. Excited, Bellance started to play with it. However, the mommy of the kitten was not too happy about that and it attacked her. Bellance was taken to the hospital and that's when everything was pieced together. While the scratches and the missing eye were obviously from the cat, all the bruises and strange markings were obviously not. The doctors did a lot of tests on her so they found a lot of signs of abuse. They tried to get Bellance to come clean, but she never could. However, social services knew something was going on so they inspected the household, and as a result her parents were arrested. Her mother ended up in a mental institute and her father ended up with a life sentence. As for Bellance? She was adopted by her friendly neighborhood tutor.
<br><br>
Apparently the tutor, whose name was Henry, was already in the process of adopting a five year old boy, but he felt bad that all that was going on and he had no clue about it. So, he adopted both of them. Henry had no spouse, but he had always wanted children, and he got enough funds to provide a stable household for the three of them so Bellance lived very contentedly with him. Henry even sent her to school, or at least tried to. The other kids at school were scared of her. They all knew her story, or at least most of them did, and they found it extremely weird that she would talk to imaginary friends. Bellance also brought some dolls and stuffed animals to school with her and talked to those as well. As a result, she became an outcast and the one that he class picked on. Fearing that the mini bullying would escalate into something worse, Henry pulled her out of school and decided that it would be best for him to just continue homeschooling her.
<br><br>
So, once again, Bellance remained at home, but it was a lot happier. She could do as much sewing as she wanted and even learn all the other types of sewing like knitting and crocheting. Plus, she could also spend some quality time with her new younger brother, Eric. Eric brought out Bellance's maternal side. While she was still young, she took care of the child as best as she could. Through this tender love and care she was able to master the qualities of a good stay ar home mother and house wife...depending on how you look at it. Bellance was already close to Eric (they had to share a bed, because while the house funds were good the house itself was small), but she did become a type of mother figure to him. As the two spent more and more time with each other their love started to become a lot less than platonic. When Bellance was fifteen and Eric was ten they started to get a lot more friendlier at night in the bed they shared. It never got to fourth base, but there was a lot of experimenting between the two that went beyond "you show me yours and I'll show you mine."
<br><br>
This secret love, if you could call it love, developed very slowly, and that was probably why it lasted for a long time. It wasn't until Bellance was eighteen that their shenanigans were found out about by Henry. Not knowing what else to do Henry made Bellance go to a therapist. He had threatened to throw her out of the house, but felt that it would not make things any better. So Bellance went to a therapist for a year, and she took Henry's bed while Eric and Henry shared the other bed. The therapy did not help much though. Bellance and Eric still were able to find out ways to mess around with each other. Once again, however, Henry caught them, and this time he actually did kick Bellance out of the house. He gave her plenty of money to start a new life though so it wasn't exactly the cruelest thing ever.
<br><br>Bellance sort of wandered around for a month or two living off of the money that Henry gave her. Eventually she was hired to be a nanny and tutor for a very wealthy family who had three kids. They housed her and made sure she had everything she needed. Bellance stayed there for three years giving the three children lots of love. The youngest was a ten year old son, the second oldest was a fourteen year old girl, and the oldest was a sixteen year old boy. She became like a second mother to them all, and, once again, a little bit more for the oldest son and the second oldest daughter. It was all a slow development, but Bellance certainly had her fun with them, and surprisingly she was never caught. However, soon after having as much fun as she pleased with the two kids, she noticed they got pretty boring. Bellance did not know why exactly, but it seemed like they started to change in a way that Bellance was not particularly fond of. Therefore, she left.
<br><br>
Pretty soon after she quit the nannying job she was accepted to be a 5th grade teacher at a random private school in Texas. Bellance found a lot of enjoyment in teaching, and spent a lot of quality time with her students. The students always tried their best to do well in her class, because then she would give them many prizes and treats. These varied from cookies to handmade toys, but sometimes she would say that she had to give you the present after class. Of course, you can pretty much assume what happened then. Bellance, once again, had her fun with her kids, and ever really thought anything about it. Especially since it was never ever talked about. It was not until Bellance was twenty-six that a kid ratted her out to her mother.
<br><br>
Of course Bellance played it off as if the kid was overreacting and that all she did was kiss her cheek, but even that was apparently enough to get her fired. Once again though, Bellance escaped having to deal with the law. After that, Bellance decided to see if she could reunite with Henry and Eric so she went back to Ashland. Henry was still there, but Eric had gone and left to college. Eric accepted Bellance back into the house after she guaranteed that she would not be there long. A month went by and Eric came back home. It was not that pleasant of a reunion though. Well, it seemed like it was, but from Bellance's point of view it was not. She could have sworn that Eric was far more interesting years ago What happened to him? Well, he matured. Despite being very disappointed by the new Eric, Bellance stayed with Henry for a couple more months, and then the Masquerade Hall letter came. Since she decided she did not really have anywhere else to go, especially since her promise to Henry that she would not be staying long had long grown thin, she decided to accept the invitation.
<BR><BR>

BEST MEMORY:<BR>
It is more like she has a favorite string of memories. All those nights with Eric when they were younger are definitely her favorite memories.
<BR><BR>

WORST MEMORY:<BR>
This is also a string of memories. Anything involving her parents she considers to be her worst memory. The cat incident is also a really really bad memory of hers.
<BR><BR>

FUTURE PLANS:<BR>
She wants to make a line of dolls that are popular, preferably more popular than Barbie. Either that or own a toy shop of some kind. I think she's over teaching though. It got boring.
