This is pretty much failure's thread, but hopefully more updated. They'll likely be sporadic at first because I have a few other things (Xenoblade/A Dance With Dragons, mainly) competing for my entertainment time and attention, but they'll happen.

Skyrim has way, WAY too many destinations to write something worthwhile on every single little one, so the story/journal/whatever will focus on major quests (main quest, guilds my character chooses, etc) and/or memorable events/places.

I'd also like some community input on this playthrough. One question I can think of off the top of my head is, "what guilds should this character join?" He's definitely joining the College, but not the Companions. I'll leave it to you guys to choose his side in the war (yes, this includes neutrality) and whether or not he joins the Thieves' Guild/Dark Brotherhood. Another good one might be, "which city should he make his 'home'?" I'm sure there are others, but they'll come to me as I play, I'm sure.

I was thinking of letting you guys pick my character as well, but I've never played as a pure mage, whereas I already played as a thief/assassin.

Anyway, some shit on my character:

Name: Magetron
Race: Redguard
Stone: Thinking I'll start with Lover or Mage. Mage is easier to find than Lover and increases magic skills 20% faster, but Lover increases all skills 15% faster. After I build a solid base for my character, I'll likely change that to Lord, which adds 50 points to armor rating and 25% resistance to magic. There aren't many great mage stones.

As for perks, well, they're standard mage fare. Investing points in all the typical mage schools, Enchanting/Alchemy, and One-Handed in case I *gasp* run out of magic. I'm putting them in a spoiler because a list of 80 perks is fucking long.

The first post after I actually start playing as this character will have a backstory of sorts. I have some idea of what it's going to be, but I figure that would make a better intro to the playthrough.

[spoiler=Perks]Numbers after a perk indicate how many times I'm increasing said perk.

Go with the Empire. Both suck, but at least the Empire doesn't dethrone the awesome Jarl Balgruuf. Also, when you can afford it, Proudspire Manor.

Also, Dark Brotherhood is cool, but that's really your preference.

I say you take the "Murder both sides" option on the war. But I might just be projecting some psychopathic tendencies.

Is it possible to join all the groups? I'm just wondering if I can do all the missions and stuff with one character or if I will have to start over with another character to do the other stuff.

You can only pick one side of the war. However, you'll get all the trophies associated with the civil war quests no matter which side you pick.

Other than that small detail, you can join every group on one file.

Also, lol Outlaw. That is an intriguing option I didn't think of. I just wish that the commanders weren't marked as essential characters. ;_;

Here's something fun I saw someone trying; try playing with the HUD opacity set to zero.

Yeah, Mac got it.

Though I didn't come up with it myself. Ghost typo'd Megatron in chat and it came out as "Magetron". I thought it'd make a good name for my mage, so here it is. >.>

Doesn't really fit any race's naming conventions, but whatever.

Also, Outlaw, that sounds nuts. I wish they had improved the quality of instructions from Morrowind instead of practically holding your hand. :/

Megatron was the first thing that came to mind but it seemed silly. ghost typo'ing sounds legit, though.

You should totally murder the fuck out of the Dark Brotherhood (you'll get the Blade of Woe a hell of a lot faster, and the DB quests don't offer many great rewards, I do like Nightweavers Band though).

Also, out of the four homes to choose from, I'd go with Hjerim (it has the best armory to store all your swag weapons and armor). Though that was more my personal preference.

Thieves Guild is a must for easy access to lockpicks and the Nightingale Armor set among a bunch of other things. It also doesn't hurt to be able to bribe guards in any major city. ;)

As for your side in the war, I agree with Lightning, the Empire is far better than the Stormcloaks. Besides what he already said about Balgruuf being awesome, Ulfric is a racist prick with a lust for power, and deserves to die.
