Like assholes, we all have them. So post them.

The only ground rule, really, is the usual "no flaming". If I want to post on politics or religion or some other sensitive topic, and I will, I don't need everyone who disagrees to jump my ass just because someone else has a different opinion.

Now, that is not synonymous with "no arguing". I encourage intelligent arguments. Surely you all know how to do that and be civil.

Lolpinions is for perspective. Nobody gives a shit to the extent that you need to flame them. I sure as hell don't. What I do care about is the ability to think.

-I don't believe in any deity that cares enough to interfere with the world. If there is anything, and I highly doubt this, I feel it's an apathetic entity that did nothing more than start the universe/lay down laws. A lot of the aspects we ascribe to our deity of choice come from human conceit, or worse, the desire to control others.

-If you're dumb enough to live so close to the water that it threatens your house year in and year out... MOVE. I cannot understand these chucklefucks who live so close to the river, then expect the entire area to come rushing to their rescue when the river floods even a little.

-Semi-related to the last one, due to New Orleans, I cannot help but LMAO every time I see the letters "FEMA".

-Most movies and television shows suck. Most of you already know my opinion on them, but so many require little more than a pulse to get the gist of. That is not something I am entertained by. Also, an original idea might be hard to come by, but pumping out the same show/movie over and over again? Really?

-Not unpopular online, but most FPS games (could say this for others, too) aren't that interesting to me. Their main draw nowadays is the online aspect, and that's not something I get into with all the kids running about, etc. I want story in my entertainment, and that's secondary to online in the eyes of players and I think developers.

-Twilight and Harry Potter suck. No literary merit to either and the media acts like they're saving literature or something. Again, not really unpopular online, but given all the hype the two worst series of our time have earned...

-Marriage is an outdated concept. All it's really good for are the legal benefits, otherwise what purpose is there in putting a ring on it other than "because that's just what people do"? It really doesn't help the concept comes from religion, either.

-In an ideal world, we wouldn't need government. Of course, this world is pretty far from ideal.

-I'm pro-choice. Other than the obvious "the world does not need more people", I trust women to make the right choice for their situation, as opposed to mindlessly abort. I also believe that government, at some level, needs to fund it so there's a safe option. Most of us should be able to agree that a woman should not die for it.

There's not really anything there I disagree with, except I liked Harry Potter. I wouldn't say they're literary masterpieces either, but I don't think they're intended to be. Stuff like that usually isn't targeted at children/teens.

I agree with the thing about an ideal world not needing government, but yeah, that would require an ideal world where nobody would go on a crime spree right after the government goes away.

Uhh, I'll post lolpinions another time I guess.

-Western Video Games/TV/Cartoons > Japanese Video Games/TV/Cartoons

-Halo is fun and FPS' in general are NOT bad.

-^ Corollary to the above: I equate online games to board games, as in the game is designed for more than one person in mind and therefore should be enjoyed as such.
(inb4moarliekBOREDgames)

-Screaming in music sounds like utter and complete crap and shouldn't be used. EVER.

-Socialism is a good idea in theory, not in practice.

-In general, people aren't stupid. A person is smart. People, as in society, are stupid.

-It's not worth being a Grammar Nazi.

-Being an asshole to everyone is no way to go through life.

I like commenting on other people's opinions.

@failure:

I do enjoy Western games more, but I haven't played enough Japanese games to say they're superior in every way.

A lot of people like Ro, and to a degree, myself, don't like the FPS genre because it's mostly all the same. A company finds one thing that gets them money and recycles it over and over. That would be fine if they charged, like, $20 for it (IMO) because it's nothing new, but $60? No. I'm not against FPS's. I'm probably buying Battlefield 3. But that's probably the only one I'll buy this year (unless you count Portal 2).

What do you mean by screaming? I don't like random screaming, but I don't mind if a singer occasionally holds out a note long enough that it sounds like a scream for a little bit. But screaming for the whole song... I don't really like that.

Yeah, socialism does sound good, but it's obviously not... At least, the way it's been tried so far has been unsuccessful.

I don't particularly care for framing the debate in terms of where something comes from. Without fail, it makes me think that the pro-America side is nationalist and the pro-Japanese side is just weeaboo as fuck. Both are as annoying as the other.

I'd have moar WRPGs, except many are designed first and foremost for the more powerful gaming computers of their time. I don't own one of these rigs and I'm not interested in upgrading parts/whole machines often. Still, I love me some Morrowind, Deus Ex, etc. They're great games because they're great games (or shows/movies/whatever), not because they came from somewhere.

Not liking screaming in music is a pretty popular opinion. You must mean in terms of here/online in general. There's a reason (almost?) nothing on the radio has screaming. I'm sure you know what that is: Most people agree with you.

Generally, I prefer singing to screaming, but both have their place.

A few more:

-The Foo Fighters are analogous to Nickelback. Not in terms of their music, but in the fact that both have a certain mainstream sound and don't try to be anything other than what they are. Yet, one gets a lot of hate and the other does not. I wonder why.

-It is impossible to measure "emotion" in music and it really irks me when people even mention that as an argument. It's kind of like obscenity: You'll know it when you hear it. Unfortunately for shit arguments, it's different for everyone.

-On the subject of obscenity, there is no such thing as a swear word. I understand the linguistic side of the issue (has to do with plosives, etc), but taking offense because someone said a "naughty word" is just silly.

-I hate The Great Gatsby mostly because I cannot relate to anyone in it. You can make all the points you want for its greatness, but I'll never be able to relate to high society, which just kills it for me.

-I cannot stand any animated show in which the artstyle (if I can call it such) looks messy. Even if it were better than Treme, that art would make me avoid watching it until the end of time. It just screams "no production values" to me, even if they do try hard.

-I like Demi Lovato's acting and music. I think she's genuinely funny and her music is decent pop.

1. I just prefer the art style and gameplay better.

2. I agree with the stupid pricing issue. I just don't get a bunch of games. I just get one every once in a while. And as for the recycling issue, maybe you're thinking of every Call of duty clone. Not all FPS's are Call Of Duty.

3.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVos-yHmcgs <- Screaming.

4. That's why I said it's a good idea IN THEORY, but not in practice.

Yup, that's what I was getting at.

I was unaware the Scandinavian countries were unsuccessful. I'd love to know how.

I was unaware that the Scandinavian countries were Socialist. I think that they are all either Parliamentary Democracies or Constitutional Monarchies.

As for the OP, I don't like to debate. Arguing is much more fun. I'll be back with some "debate" material later.

I honestly couldn't give two shits about politics. The party I vote for will never lead the country, so it's not like I really have a say in the matter at all. It's always between two parties. They both want to run the country in equally shitty ways, so I don't really care which gets it.

Yeah, I know this. Socialism is a political philosophy, not a form of government. =/

Call me old fashioned, but I am pro-life. Once two people decide to do *it*, they have no choice but to live with the potential consequences, intentional or not. Babies feel pain, they have hearts, the woman has no right to take away life just cause it isn't born yet. I believe killing the unborn baby isi horrible and unthinkable, and every baby has the right to live.

I just wonder about what you would say for when a woman gets pregnant as the result of a rape? In that case it wasn't 2 people deciding to do something.

I don't think abortion is a good thing and shouldn't be abused, but there are some circumstances where it is acceptable, IMO.

That's a good point, but why punish the uborn for the sin of his *father*? That's not fair. There is always adoption if the woman doesn't wish to keep the baby.
