This is great stuff! It's nice to see Nova finally fleshed out.
I'm pretty tired so this might not be too intelligent, but some thoughts:
- How do we tell the story through the game? Interactions with NPCs (a la Cave Story)? Scripted interactions at the beginning of levels (and maybe at bosses and stuff)? Scrolling text at the beginning of each character's story? (Maybe a boot sequence, design document, etc.)
- Maybe some sort of multiple-personality issue is part of his design. Maybe he has multiple "settings" that are supposed to stay separate. Being experimental means that the software is unstable, and so the personalities gradually bleed together.
- Maybe we can start developing the character through some sort of boot sequence that works as an intro (a la Mega Man X).
- Where does part I end? I think it either needs to be an intense cliffhanger or come to some sort of tentative resolution, but not just end abruptly. Maybe Nova finds out some juicy details about the technologist, and Mirror's ground city army faces some kind of crisis or internal conflict. Wasn't Mirror supposed to realize that his wife wasn't dead but actually alive? Is Gale the force that ultimately brings Nova and Mirror together?
- Nova and Mirror don't meet until the end of the first game? Really? I thought Mirror vs. Nova was supposed to be our central conflict. We have Nova trying to keep order in the city and Mirror developing a militia or whatever in the ground city, but there's no major conflict there. What's the meaty part of the story in Pt. 1?
- I know Asgard was suggested a while ago, but I think it works very well. It's got a nice, majestic ring to it.
- I like the level of detail in Nova's history.
[edit:] Another idea: What if Alpha, after going back and forth between Mirror and Nova, winds up as a pacifist?

I'm hoping to have a new, playable demo out by the end of May. If you have any suggestions on how to start working the story into the game, I'd love to hear 'em. Even if there's just a simple box that displays intro text or something, it'd be a start. I can probably do a "boot up" screen too.
Thanks for putting all that together!

Oh, I'm gonna pin this too.
