Description: One step backward
KAI YI's Mother - February 14, 2006 11:12 PM (GMT)
How do you do this one do you replace the letters with the previous one?
Riddler of Riddlers - February 14, 2006 11:15 PM (GMT)
No. Just take one step backward. Look around you. You'll figure it out.
LizzyB - February 15, 2006 12:28 AM (GMT)
First stumbling block.... will look with fresh eyes tomorrow.
Riddler of Riddlers - February 15, 2006 12:36 AM (GMT)
Fresh eyes do help when staring one unit backwards.
LizzyB - February 15, 2006 04:52 PM (GMT)
Fresh eyes havent helped lol
Riddler of Riddlers - February 15, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
If you're thinking of the alphabet, you're wrong.
Think of other sets of letters where you can go one step backwards.
LizzyB - February 15, 2006 05:49 PM (GMT)
Riddler of Riddlers - February 15, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
PM me or others who passed it for help :)
LizzyB - February 15, 2006 06:35 PM (GMT)
I looked down.... and it hit me .... the answer was there all the time!
doorknob - February 18, 2006 11:45 PM (GMT)
i think i know the answer but it brigs me to the no, no, no page. i have no idea what it means when it says "how was the question written?"
LizzyB - February 19, 2006 12:07 AM (GMT)
The best thing I did was look down
Hannah426 - February 19, 2006 03:02 AM (GMT)
Ok...I got to the "How was the question written" page and I think I know what it's talking about but I still cant get the answer...a little help?
LizzyB - February 19, 2006 09:23 AM (GMT)
Go back and look at the original Page 12....
Then answer the question differently (PM if you need further help)
Matt Soda - February 21, 2006 07:06 PM (GMT)
sometimes I think reading all these clues makes it even more difficult..... lol.
i think the most stumbling thing is........ What kind of step is one to take? Step backwards from where? lol. this is driving me nuts
Riddler of Riddlers - February 21, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
Look around (physically) and you will know where to start from.
Matt Soda - February 22, 2006 11:29 PM (GMT)
bingo! got it! sorry for my durrrrrrrrr
boink - February 23, 2006 06:40 AM (GMT)
somebody saaaaave me...
wat ever am i supposed to be looking at?
i tried typing in everything in can see below, inc things on my [EDIT]!
donnahiggy - February 23, 2006 10:16 AM (GMT)
I'm lost. Do the letters in the picture mean anything? Or do we ignore them? Looking down is getting me no where. Nor is looking behind me.
LizzyB - February 23, 2006 03:40 PM (GMT)
but are you looking for letters in these places?... you need to look for letters. Once you have found those letters you can apply the riddle.
grapo - February 28, 2006 10:56 AM (GMT)
is this about in what room I am at the moment?
LizzyB - February 28, 2006 01:42 PM (GMT)
Everybody can look down... right now u can look down.... go on trust me.... and then answer whats infront of you?
Literally. Then use it to apply on the text of the screen
izzybee - March 1, 2006 06:48 PM (GMT)
TELLME THE ANSEWR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! riddle 12 is HARRRRRD!

Riddler of Riddlers - March 1, 2006 11:57 PM (GMT)
Calm down. No one is giving you any answer. If you want one-on-one help just PM someone who passed it.
(It would help if it weren't me because there are enough people asking for help as is. LizzyB also has many people to help. You may ask others.)
izzybee - March 2, 2006 07:00 PM (GMT)
okay i got it....the only thing is, whenever i put it into the/___.htm is that i always get to the stop sign that says wrong!
What do i do?
LizzyB - March 2, 2006 07:04 PM (GMT)
Try inputting the answer differently.. if your getting the stop sign you have it wrong im afraid. I dont mind if you PM me with what you have and I can maybe nudge you a little bit.
I just cant always answer straight away with family commitments etc.
Fordy - March 7, 2006 10:02 PM (GMT)
right...on this one i havent got the slightest idea wot to do, does it matter what room your in? are the letters across the screen relevant??? please give me as much help as u may..thanks...
Riddler of Riddlers - March 7, 2006 11:02 PM (GMT)
The room you're in does not matter. Every 10 Riddles are in another "room" so you wouldn't accidentally put in the answer to, say, Riddle 70, when you're on Riddle 3.
The letteres in the image, however, are important. You want to go one space backwards from each letter, making a question.
Look at where you're hands are at all times!
dobs - March 21, 2006 04:30 PM (GMT)
I really can't get this one. Been at it for two days! Someone *please* help me!!!!
kiha - March 24, 2006 01:42 AM (GMT)
I get it but when I put the answer it tells me it's different
Riddler of Riddlers - March 24, 2006 02:10 AM (GMT)
Get the answer back to the 'one step backward' form.

| Get the answer back to the 'one step backward' form. |
I have the question and have done that but still no glory. I have even tried using the upper level instead of the level I used to get the question. Help, please? I know this has to be the right answer....why won't it take it?
Great puzzle by the way, just wish it would take the answer!
Ok, now that the server is working again, it took it!! :P
Creative.Impulse - April 30, 2006 02:47 PM (GMT)
That's smart, man.
And umm, (coughI'mjusttryingtogetmoreblockscough)when LizzyB says look down, she doesn't mean the floor, hinthint. If you're sitting, and you look down a bit, what do you see?
Start going backwards (NOT up and down) from there.
chasmosaur - May 2, 2006 05:10 PM (GMT)
Okay, for those of you stumped by the "look down" references...
I figured out the riddle, and the hints here didn't help. What I *did* do instead (which was what I should have just done in the first place), was treat the text like what it is: A cryptogram.
That means that each letter in this sentence stands in for another letter througout.
Since this is a simple question, think about how you start simple questions - in other words, what words do you use to start a interrogative sentence? Especially ones that start a riddle?
Thinking carefully about that will yield you some important letters that you can then use to start translating words further down the sentence.
After you translate the first part of the sentence, the one word you should look at most carefully is the last one - "yjtrr". Not many words have that letter pattern. "fobofr" is also a word of interest, due to the repeating letters.
Hope this is more helpful than "Look down" ;)
LizzyB - May 2, 2006 05:34 PM (GMT)
Well I have done the riddle... and what u just explained totally confused me.... simply looking down is a lot easier to understand...when you look you see letters.... (well most of us do).
Then apply the riddle theory of taking a step back, but if what you put helps some good good... just dont give too much in forum hints incase people dont want too much help... for those that do... theres always ... PM's :D
chasmosaur - May 3, 2006 04:14 PM (GMT)
Once I did the cryptogram, I figured out the combo of "one step back" and "look down"...however if you read the board, obviously some folks just aren't getting it.
Was just trying to offer another way to look at it, because so many people are looking a little too far down, or taking it too literally. Sometimes you get stuck and just can't move on, you know?
And I hope I didn't offer too much. The clues I offered are pretty much basic "how-to's" for beginners starting on cryptograms. Didn't offer any letters or anything, just how to attack the problem.
Riddler of Riddlers - May 3, 2006 04:40 PM (GMT)
Children, please, no fighting.
They both would work, it just depends on the user on what he/she wants to do.
chasmosaur - May 4, 2006 05:44 PM (GMT)
:) Wasn't fighting, just explaining. So hard to tell on a message board, though, isn't it?
Riddler of Riddlers - May 5, 2006 12:27 AM (GMT)
  WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'HARD'!?!?!?
stopak924 - May 28, 2006 05:45 PM (GMT)
Yea for #12, do the letters mean anything?? or are they like a decoy. it just doesnt make any sense to me.! someone help? one step backward from what? are there letters hidden somewhere??
Riddler of Riddlers - May 29, 2006 12:54 AM (GMT)
Of course the letters mean something..it wouldn't be much of a Riddle without them.
