If I don't have to do it, I won't.

I've put off writing rules for this forum up until now because in my opinion, discussion tends to be at its best when it's unrestricted. Unfortunately it can also be at its worst, so I think it's worth mentioning a few things.
Bear in mind that these could be changed or added to over time, since I'm certain I won't think of absolutely everything right off the bat.
1. No spamming, flaming or trolling.
On Spamming: Basically, no posts that are redundant (saying exactly what someone else said) or just complete gibberish or nonsense. This isn't /b/.
On Flaming: If you don't like someone don't make a public spectacle of it. Take it elsewhere. Unjustified aggressivity is not tolerated here.
On Trolling: Tough to pin a definition for this, but if you're just trying to get a rise out of someone just for the hell of it it'll become pretty apparent at one point or another, so don't bother doing it in the first place.
2. Use common sense and good judgement when posting.
People withouth common sense won't get any special treatment. Just because it's the internet doesn't mean you can just throw away the social rules of the real world.
3. Don't plagiarize.
Simple enough. Plagiarism is wrong and just very unfair to original creators. Don't claim something is yours if it isn't. Credit where credit's due.
4. Donít hotlink images from webhosts or sites that arenít yours.
It can be easy to forget sometimes, but if you're posting an image, use a free webhost like photobucket or imageshack. Bandwidth is a precious commodity.
6. No pornography.
Basically anything with nudity, be it actual or inferred, should be kept out of the public space here. Anything that's just risque or that may be NSFW, should be linked to rather than outright posted.
a. No strong profanity. This means no F words. I don't mind alternatives to these such as "ef" nor do I mind using asterisks or dashes to remove certain letter from them. I know it seems pointless to censor when it's obvious what word we mean, but indulge me. I was this to be some semblance of a family place. I don't care about words like damn, frig, hell and crap. Basically if you see a word used in one of the comics, it's safe to use here as well.
b. Try to use plain English to the best of your ability. Punctuation and proper spelling are appreciated and help people to understand what you're trying to say. Stuff like leet-speak is generally best avoided if at all possible.
c. Oh, and also don't be racist, sexist or otherwise derogatory towards minority groups. This shouldn't require any further explanation.
8. Check existing topics before starting a new one.
Pretty straightforward. Things'll be more organized if there aren't a ton of duplicate threads laying around.
9. Signature Limits:
Width: 750 px
Height: 250 px
Size: 300 kilobytes
These are limits, remember. Feel free to make them smaller if you want. I'm not a fan of animated gifs in avatars and signatures, but I know lots of people are, so I'll say that while they're allowed, I think they're garish and distracting.
Anyway, that's all for now.
