Yeah, it's a force effect. Although for some reason Mage Armor is a conjuration force effect and Shield is an abjuration force effect, even though they do pretty much the same thing. Most force effects, like the iconic Magic Missile and Wall of Force, are evocation, though. Note the other wall spells. Wall of Fire and Wall of Ice are evocation (even though the latter also summons actual matter in addition to cold). Wall of Stone, Wall of Iron, and Wall of Thorns are conjuration.
Some of their magic, like used by black mages and summoners, is, although even then there are non-elemental black magic spells (not sure if we've seen them yet, but they're bound to exist somewhere). White mages aren't tied to elements. More importantly, like FF, the "elemental" nature manifests in some mage types having an arsenal of elements to use, while other mage types don't care. We haven't seen any fire mages, water mages, etc. Besides, flight spells and their ilk don't seem like any sort of elemental magic to me, unless you're allowing unconventional stuff like gravity-elemental. Sometimes flight is associated with the element of air, which makes some sense when you have specialized air mages, but it really doesn't justify a black mage or white mage being able to fly just because he has an Aero spell.
Nah. Lariat is too much of a powerhouse. The king is the cloaked figure, who's running the operation but rarely engages in combat himself.
Lariat is the queen. |

Ooh, thanks for the examples Milo!
It explains why he's now behind us. |

It explains why Frey has such irregular movements as well. |

Frey as the Queen would be more fun, though |

Oh, I should have responded to this:
I don't see what point this will serve. Lariat isn't expected to pass through Ash Hollow again.
What would be nice is to get in touch with Frey and the Dark Mage Gang. However, I doubt they'll be able to arrive before Lariat does. |

Oh right, I assumed the route he was taking would go through Ash Hollow's not-frontier train station; substitute whichever they'll be coming through then.
Though I guess if enough authorities are brought on board that'd shrink the spotlight (and/or get us in trouble with any regime hostile to Veilians). And yeah, we should rezendevous with the BMG at the first oppertune moment, for numbers, their talents, and as a backup in case we get into trouble (always leave your particulars with a trusted agent/s : )), plus it's been a while since we've seen them, and it'd be nice to get them together to make aquaintances with Frey and Lily when we rescue her. |

Our route:
Veil -> Himmelburg -> Terminal -> Ash Hollow main station -> Ash Hollow frontier station => Sagittarius Station -> Verdantia Lariat's route: Veil -> Himmelburg -> Terminal -> Ash Hollow main station -> Magus Tellus -> Hanamori-chou => Soona -> Champs D'Lyon -> Sagittarius Station -> Verdantia (Current locations, and places where the tracks run paralllel, bolded.) So Soona and Champs D'Lyon are the realms Lariat is passing through that we won't be waiting for him in. They probably won't be able to stop Lariat from passing to Sagittarius, though, even if warned. |

Oh hey, thanks!
--- And yeah, I'm hoping (if a message can make it to Sagitta in time) for a triple combo of defenses impeding and maybe stopping (capturing) them (though I guess for trope reasons impeding them (or a temporary capture with an interrogation) is the only realistic outcome, unless we get to graduate early to the dark, mysterious figure). --- I voted Argo, what about y'all? |

I voted Pello. I want to smooth things over with him and maybe learn more about him.

Oh yeah, that was my first instinct!
I think he's probably less angry with us than Argo though - but he's also more of a core member. |

I admit seeing those train seats like that I had a slight Airplane flashback. Guess Pello could sub for Leslie Nielson

I just noticed that those windows are way too high to look out of. Maybe there's a race that's taller than mystics or humans?

Don't be silly. Who's ever heard of a race other than Mystic or Human. What would we call these larger than life fellows? Giants? Don't make me laugh. |

Well, Mystics are called 'mystics', because they are so mystic and humans are called 'humans' because they are so human. Clearly this new race would be called "Talls". I should know, I'm actually a master of Tall Tales. |

Hey guys From the front page:
My job is coming to an end this week so I figured I'd devote the energy I usually spend beating myself up over not updating the site to looking for work and whatnot, heh. To be honest, I've been in a weird kind of directionless funk for the last 6-12 months because my current job has never been permanent. I often find myself second-guessing what I should spend my time on, be it AE, looking for other work, trying to get more marketable job skills, throwing myself into some other creative project in hopes that it'll be more successful than AE, etc... I really hope that if I ever finally settled down with something permanent that my updates would finally find some sort of consistency. But we won't know that until it happens. Anyway, I'm rambling. I guess I'm trying to find a roundabout way of thanking you guys for sticking around even though I'm not as consistent as some other webcomic artists. |
