So as Kristof said in the Join Up Incentive Event #2 thread, I will be spriting requests for people who join in time for Kristof's event and stay around for at least two weeks on the board here.

I'm a bit slower at churning out images than Kristof is (he does have considerably more practice than I do), so there will likely be spillover onto that Monday. Any of you guys who have already been on the board sometime over this last year can send me your requests any time over the next couple of weeks and I'll get started to try and minimize such spillover.

Request formats for the spriting stuff follows Kristof's format for the join incentive stuff, with a couple differences. Spriting lends itself well to animation, and if you think your request would be a simple enough one to animate, go ahead and ask for it in an animated form. Animated sprites will likely be considerably smaller--more like the walk cycles' sizes than the Meirry Christmas / Happy Holidays image, but they'll be, y'know, animated.

Animations can be either inherently loopable animations and ease back to their first frames or just endlessly repeat without a return-to-start, so to speak, jumping back to their first frames. If you want the animation to loop with an ease back to their starting frame, please say so if you think it would be unclear.

Here's hoping some new people stick around long enough to take advantage of this little event.

An animated sprite of Bennu breathing fire would be crazy awesome.

...but that seems like it wouldn't be simple enough to easily animate. Feel free to do whichever you feel like (and whenever you feel like).

BTW, thanks for doing this.

Hmm, an animated sprite (looping) of Fio doing a victory pose would be awesome IMO. But, I'd just settle for a non-animated Fio victory pose sprite is you feel that's easier. (As you can all tell, I love Fio. She's 73|-| 4\/\/35[]|\/|3!!!111!!!)

I have had trouble with fire in the past--well, explosions, to be more precise. Those things are tough to sprite with a decent level of detail.

But Bennu's stuff seems more fire beam-y. I'll give it a shot.

Fio victory-posing... well, as I said before, I'll need ref images. If somebody could link me, I'd appreciate it. We'll see for the level of complexity. If it'd be too visually complicated, I'll probably do one large posing one.

Most of the way done with Iris. Just need to add the attack effect.

Also realized while working on Iris's sprite that we haven't seen her attack outside of a flashback, which also means we haven't seen her rod outside of a flashback in continuity.

Good thing there was that previous drawing event, or I'd have no reference material for her rod basically at all.

EDIT: Here you go, Clinton.

And the Alpha values are done right on this one, so it'll draw correctly against a dark background.

Thanks for doing the sprite requests, Sildraug!

Anyways, here is my request.

To keep in the interest of balance, could you do a picture of one with Lily casting a spell? (Sort of like you did Iris)...maybe have Lily's hood down...and maybe a glyph or two glows in the air from the spell.

If any of it is too much, I will change the request. Of course, you can certainly change the spell use, etc. to whatever you wish.

And this sprite isn't animated.

Nope, that's fine. Do you want it animated, or large?

Missed that, gotcha, that should be fine.

Last panel on this page.

Hmm, now that I think about it. It isn't so much a victory pose as an EPIC POSE OF EPICNESS... WITH A SIDE OF EPIC!!!

Here is Bennu.

Jesus Christ, so much secondary motion. Just between that flowy tail and the eyebrows, I've really had to think about movement a lot more than I've had to with other animations I've done.

This one took a good eight hours to put together satisfactorily. Frame by frame in Paint for the first few frames, which was pretty quick, then worked in the game lab when I needed layers and alpha for the fire burst (Since I don't believe Paint.net supports animation, I basically had to use Fireworks. Although that's only half the reason--my roommate's got his girlfriend over for the weekend, so I've been bugging out to give them some 'alone time'.). Incidentally, I'm also somewhat annoyed that the program I used to put the .gif frames together stuck a white background behind my zero alpha background, effectively discarding all the nonzero alpha values other than 1 (or 255, or 100% depending on your system of numbering) by drawing them over full-alpha white then merging them (since .gif has no layers).

...D'oh. Forgot to properly animate the eyebrows' return to the first frame. I suppose he's just tweaking his expression or something, since presumably he can move those eyebrows.

...Also somewhat disappointed it came out looking sooomewhat like he's pelvic thrusting.

But since this is the only way it's going to be seen anyway, I suppose it doesn't really matter.

Fio is gonna be a still, as is Lily. They're coming. Sorry I took so long to respond here, but class projects and midterms have been hitting me hard.

Tis quite okay, Sil. We understand. Glad to see you're back! =D

Also, I think it's more of like a Searing Beam akin to Golden Sun than Flamethrower from Pokemon. I like Golden Sun.

Fantastic! Great one as always, Sild. With all this practise, you're probably getting even better, too!

I always thought of them more as antennae or just weird long feathers. But yeah, I bet she would be able to move them wink.gif
