Hey, It's nice to meet you, and always nice to have a new member.

I'm Vuanaunt (My alias came from a random name generator and I use it just about everywhere). I just finished my first year of College (Nuclear engineering), I'm an amateur artist, and a martial artist. Also, I'm into a lot of nerd/geek things.

I'm going to stop myself here before I start rambling on and embarrassing myself, but it's cool to have a new member, and I'm glad you like AE.

Most martial arts consider it cheating if you bring a nuclear weapon into the ring, though.

Yeah, but all you need to do is punch hard enough.

Nuclear Engineering huh? Sounds exciting. =D

I myself am a science nerd as well, I'm studying Microbiology and start my first Bio class next quarter, in the mean while I'm reading ahead and memorizing as many chapters before I even start my class. XD

I too am also a martial artist with 2 black belts (granted where I train we get dual rank =P) 1 in American Jujitsu and the other in Bansenshukai Ninjutsu.

And if your a ninja using a nuclear weapon is totally fine, just don't be near the blast site. >.>

Ah man, those both sounds rather awesome. I have two years in Tae kwon do, and one year in Karate.

Ninjutsu, Huh? What's that like? All I really know about it is from TV... =P

I imagine it will be! We even have our own reactor! Unfortunately I haven't taken any nuclear classes yet, because the first year is all general engineering. Right now I'm more of a CS engineer because I've taken a class on C. =p

Ninjutsu is rather fun, though it's hard to really discuss it because most people don't know what a ninja is or so many places claim to teach it but miss the point. Essentially where I train at we justify why we are ninjas by adopting the philosophy the actual ninja did, which was simply to win. And to do that through any means it took. Basically a real ninja has a skill set consisting of survival, stealth, first aid, acting/disguise, and escape and evasion techniques (since avoiding a fight is better than fighting). Then we learn fighting stuff on top of all that from various other martial arts, and in essence we do techniques that have the most practicality in terms of self defense.

And I'll leave it at that because I might write a thesis if I keep going presently. >.>

I also did Tae Kwon Do myself on and off for a few years, but I never got too into it. Every place I trained at was really big on winning trophies and competitions and had no real focus on any self defense practicality.

Like nuclear reactor? That sounds pretty awesome. I can't wait to get into my main bios and get access to my crafts equipment.

And I know the whole basic stuff well, I'm only starting my basic bio next quarter, and delving deeper into my chems and calculus.

Nuclear blasts are pretty good for a distraction though which are key to stealthing about. =P

Haha, okay I might of lied. I knew that Ninjas did all of that, I was just under the misconception that "ninjustsu" was the name of their fighting style. XP (Instead of everything.)

Yeah, we have our own Nuclear reactor! It's not a big reactor, since it's mainly for experiments and demonstrations, but it's still too cool to have our very own nuclear reactor!

I'm sure you know the feeling, Your school must have it's very own microorganisms. =P

I think what he meant was that most people don't know what a ninja -really- is.

Which is to say, ninjas were assassins, actually stealthy, and if they did fight, fought dirty. They are not flashy, the best warriors, magic, and they most certainly weren't anything in Naruto.

(Although from what I've read, back in the day, Ninjas wanted to look like they were that powerful and magic, but that was all for intimidation.)

((Correct me if I'm wrong on any of that.))

You are wrong, Vuanaunt... completely.

Ninjas could summon giant frog warriors and shadow clones and breath fire and lightning created from their chakra. Orange was the number one color of ninjas and they fought with honor and kindness above all else. Naruto is basically a historical document on ninjas. It was origionally made for the History channel but it didn't have enough aliens or doomsday predictions for them.

The reason most people don't know this is because ninjas are ninjas.

Well as far as fighting styles, ninjas just use whatever style and weapon/tool they can get a hold of or learn. They usually just take the system their enemies used and sometimes modified it, but they used a lot of the same stuff. It's the stealth and other skills that make a ninja a ninja, since ninja's main job was information gathering and spying technically. The assassin stuff was a bit later and not nearly as big a focus as people generally think (at least from what I know about that aspect, I'm far from an expert on classical ninja), from what I know it was mostly the female ninja who would be assassins, namely because they could get into places men couldn't and get high up generals and such to not exactly keep their guard up around them.

The whole intimidation thing is correct as well, ninjas played off people's superstitions and played the information game and tried to, in the worlds of the first Nolan Batman movie "Be more than a man in the eyes of your enemies". That's actually the purpose of shuriken, they were used during night time when a ninja was being pursued, and were thrown to only cut the pursuer and make them believe they were attacked with magic or by demons.

Yes, what he said. =P Most people tend to refer to the pop culture ninja instead of the real one. Which I guess isn't too uncommon really, our media tends to exaggerate or make up a lot of stuff which gets pushed into the back of our heads. >.>

That's pretty awesome, I would be nervous if they let the youngin' students handle it though, I'm just about to finish my first science majors chem class and most the people in there I don't trust with the Bunsen burner, let alone the deadly chemicals. >.>

And we do have plenty of microorganisms.....all over the place....especially in the bathrooms. >.>

I learned that once, and now I feel foolish for over-emphasizing how much they assassinate. XP Much like I'm sure at some point one or two ninjas used a smoke bomb to escape, but they didn't use them everytime they entered or left a room.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, their favorite disguise was just putting on their street clothes and blending into a crowd. Youknow, instead of going everywhere in a orange black gi.

...oops. I feel silly now. Thanks for correcting me. sad.gif

(But you failed to mention how ninjas are such bad smokers. Everytime they do anything it (dis)appears in a cloud of smoke.)

That would be correct, wearing a ninja outfit kind of stands out. =P Normally just looking like an everyday person (hence the acting skills). Of course the night time running about did exists but they wore dark blue because it blended in better than black.
