SAVE HARDCORE GAMING!

ok, so heres the deal. Over the past few years theres been a steady decline in video game difficulty. Compare the original zelda games with their modern counterparts, for example. But anyway, there are a few games out there that FEED off of their difficulty, and NEED IT. the difficulty simply FUELS the game, and what people dont realize is that making a game easier does not make it better.

Lemme get one thing straight: I'm not talking about "kidna-casual-ish-but-not-really hardcore" games. I mean HARDcore games: Contra 3, highest difficulty, 3 lives, hard. THAT hard.

My greatest fear in video games right now is not graphics that have less the 30 million polygons. oh no. My biggest fear, specifically, is the upcoming (but not yet announced) F-Zero game will be easier that F-Zero GX. I'm simply tired of people bitching about how hard it is, and how gaming companies are making all their games easier. If you've ever played the F-Zero games, any of them, the way I do, you know what it's like: ridiculously hard, but so you can't stop playing. It's the "I can beat it this time, I KNOW I can..." element that makes the games what they are.

So anyway, what I'm trying to say is that making games easy, doesn't make them good. plain and simple. Even now, I'm hesitant to use the word "hardcore" in the title because it is to often abused these days. People will call just about any action-oriented game that you die/fail at least once while playing "the most freakin-hardcore game I've ever played!!" and it jsut shows how noobly they are. If you want hard, go play some classic games that make you want to cry tears of frustration and sheer awesomeness at the same time, and you just can't stop playing.

lol i think there making video games easier because more people are playing and they just suck so they quit buying new games unless there easy.

it is a long run on, but it needs to be addressed. and i agree, lots of gamers do suck. but they should just be left playing their easy games, and leave the hardcore ones alone.

Ja, I've been wondering why games these days are so fucking easy. I was expecting a hard ass 120hr game but Xenosaga ended up a friggin 42hr...granted it had an awesome plot, but the game itself was too easy.

Honestly I haven't played a hardcore game in years....lol the last game I found absolutly hard core was A BRIDGE TOO FAR....omg so difficult....hardest difficulty is damn near impossible....fucking Nazis.....SS Troops outnumber you 3 to 1 and they're outfitted with the best....you have fucking infantry or paras and they don't stand a chance against a Konigtiger tank T.T fun game though....I kicked it's ass
