I don't really see that many movies at the cinema anyways, but I'll wager it'll probably end up in my expansive DVD collection

The monster seems to have this specialisation towards the concept of "I'm lethal to humans".

First, it's massive, godzilla-sized bulk. It'll trample you, drop rubble on you, or hurl the head of the Statute of Liberty at you.

Then, there's the man-sized parasites that feed off of it. A good bite from these speedy little things will kill you outright for sure.

But wait! There's more! If you aren't stepped on, and survive the bites, they inject a powerful anticoagulant that causes your torso to explode!

My prediction came true, I bought it today as a treat for finishing all my exams.

Definitely a good film. It's like Signs meets Godzilla meets Blair Witch Project, very well done.

To be honest, it looks like another "New York has been destroyed... THEREFOR THE WHOLE WORLD MUST END!" type of film, only mixed in with a big monster thing.

IT'S BEEN DONE BEFORE! <_<

Well, it doesn't really look at the big picture of how the giant monster destroying Manhattan (not all New York, just Manhattan) effects the world at large. Its really more of a close look at how a giant monster attack would actually affect a bunch of normal people.

Look at the cover of the DVD cases, now look at the cover of "The Day After Tomorow"

...

Now look at the cover of about 10 other "End of world" movies.

Its not always New York. I think you'll find Tokyo gets destroyed just as often.

Anyway, its not the end of the world. Just New York. In fact, not even that. Just Manhattan.
