He glared at Aleda's back as she headed for the stage, though he kinda wanted to laugh as well. It wasn't often he had someone give as good as they got when it came to quips..or insults for that matter.

Wow, I'm fucked up. Shaking his head at the thought, he settled back, smirking a bit as Aleda began her song. At least it was one he knew, and it seemed to mirror the little scene on a trail he'd deny ever thinking about afterwards.

Aleda closed her eyes, giving herself into the music and blocking everything else out.

"If I don't go to the river I'm going to crawl into a hole and fill me in.
this thing will suffocate me, so, you see, the only difference is when.
I don't know what the trick is.
Look at me. I am nothing but a need to reach you.
I've waited so long that I can smell the rotting of my brain and I'm shakding and I'm stammering and tasting the sting of my failure."

He was just trying to ponder over Aleda's choice of song when he felt the hair on the back of his neck rise. Trying to play it cool, Quentin tried not to betray his inner anxiety by saying something stupid...or making any sudden moves. Both would probably be a bit detrimental to his current state of being...And I like my current state of physically whole, he thought, eyeing the shadows of the two Werewolves falling across the table.

Quentin raised an eyebrow at the meathead to his right," Sorry, could I do anything for you?" Apparently, his mental filter had never been fixed.

The 'meathead' glared at him. "What is your business with the Lady?" He questioned gruffly, ignoring that Aleda was sending him a death glare from the stage, where she was finishing up her song. Applause rang up from about the room as she bowed, and skipped down the stairs two at a time.
"Raphel. Leave him alone."

The way Quentin saw it, he had two options; let Aleda get the enjoyment out of talking down a combined 400lbs of hulking stupid, or be the big man of the situation and cause a fight that wuld get them all kicked out permanently. That, and he didn't feel like nursing bruises and bite wounds tonight.

So Aleda's approach had him grinning like a fool. "We were just talking about you, love," making sure to stress the term just enough to get dumb&dumber looking confused. Getting up from his chair,Quentin circled the table to meet her. Bending his head to Aleda's ear in a mock nuzzle,he breathed out," Play along? Don't really want to end up out on my ass or with a price on my head."

Grin still in place,he turned with an arm loosely around Aleda's waist," She was fantastic, wasn't she?" To which the big...ger of the two, gawped a bit before Quentin goaded him on," Raphael, yeah? Isn't it proper to praise your Lady?"

Aleda quirked an eyebrow at him, catching onto his game. Laughing inwardly, she smiled and leaned against him.
"Raph, John, this is Quentin. Quentin, these are my cousins, Raph and John." She tilted her head, and gave her cousins a 'look'. "You were all playing nice together, right?" Ah, the joy of underlying threats...

If it weren't so completely ironic, Quentin could have ravished her just a little for such a performance. Have to compliment the effective underlying threat later, though, he thought while turning an easy, friendly smile towards Aleda's cousins.

"Say,it was really good to meet you both, but we were just going out for a smoke. Give us a minute to say goodnight, yeah? Then you can all pad off where you please." The thought that they wouldn't follow him and Aleda outside was a long shot, but by the confusion and wariness of their charge written plainly on their faces...Well, Quentin thought he might just have a decent plan in the works. Glancing down at Aleda, he tilted his head towards the terrace door," A moment is all we need, right luv?" His tone was light, though the glint of gold in his eyes suggested otherwise.

"Yes," Aleda responded, "A moment is all. Guys, I'll be right back." Taking Quentin's hand, she led him out to the terrace before turning to give him a look. "And what was that about, exactly?" She asked, quirking an eyebrow. "Do you enjoy teasing guys twice your size?"

"Yep," he grinned, teeth flashing in the beam from the lamp overhead. "I'm a stuffy History teacher by day and giant, furry Idiot by the light of the moon."

Quentin didn't need fighting to break out, and he liked to keep his conversations private; Something that couldn't happen with Aleda's hulking cousins around. That, and it amused him, but not enough to stave off the restless energy he had bottled up after performing." Did you want to get away from them or not?"

Aleda laughed. "I'm ALWAYS trying to get away from them... Or whomever is my bodyguard for the day." She shook her head. "Da thinks his little girl can't take care of herself, yet she can beat the shit out of almost anyone in the Pack."
Pulling a smoke from her pocket, she lit it up and inhaled. "Jeez. Do you always do this?"

A laughing Aleda was definitely a good thing..though she *was* laughing at him...

Quentin, gave a half-shrug at the question," Dunno, what exactly do you mean by 'this'?"

A light mist began to fall, typical for that time of year. Though not extremely unpleasant, it dampened (no pun intended, certainly) his mood a bit. Zipping the light jacket he wore up against the chill, Quentin quirked a brow at the little werewolf, waiting for clarification after the giggles subsided. " I get a little torqued after playing sometimes. Nervous energy and what-not."

Aleda raised an eyebrow at him. "You, nervous? You looked like king of the freaking world up there. You had everybody going with you. I see no reason to be nervous about anything, sir. Which, makes me think, why didn't you take up music as a profession?" Tapping the growing ash off her cig, she titled her head at him. "And what I meant by 'this' is the tormenting guys twice your size. And now, especially, after knowing the big-woo-fucking-cares- deal about who I am."

"Found out I didn't like the business aspect, and I'm a cocky son of a bitch." Quentin sidled up to her, grinning still. "It's all a learning process I'm sure I'll figure out somewhere in between grading papers and leading fucking bird watchers," he snarked, reaching across to snatch the cigarette out of Aleda's fingers. "Mind?"
Not that he particularly cared himself at that point, he took a drag and grimaced a little," That's what I get for leaving mind inside then. Gah." He held the half-burned cigarette back out to her, " I expected more than menthol from you, honestly."
