::: ooc :::
For Halo and Panasi :)

:: ic ::

Well this was going to be a tricky one. Although she had introduced new dogs countless times, this one seemed a little more daunting. Usually there was already a pack of dogs and the new one was gradually accepted at some position or another. It would have even been easy if the original dog was submissive or there was some neutral spot they could meet. However, Panasi had always been the boss of the dogs and Lled had not known Halo long enough to know how the hybrid would react.

It wasn’t like Lled could have them meet in some unclaimed territory either. She had just got Panasi back. The woman wasn’t ready to risk leaving her dogs alone and unprotected even for a moment. So tying one to a tree and coming back for the other one was not an option.

“Come on silly girl. Let’s go meet your kennel-mate,” Lled said when the cabin and kennel came into view. Her knee was sore from snowshoeing all the way in from the outpost. She had a loose slip collar on Halo and had attached her to a fifty foot lead. If Halo was truly unhappy with the situation, Lled would not force her to stay. There was nothing more heartbreaking than a miserable sleddog.

“Panasi,” she hailed as she unbuckled the snowshoes and stood them up in the snowbank beside the main kennel door. “Come meet our new friend, sweet pea.”

Panasi liked being on top.

She wasn't the sort of dog who would just lie down and roll over -- and she certainly wasn't the sort to back down from a fight. To Panasi, such behavior was normal; but to Lled, it could present problems. For instance, when new dogs were to be introduced.

The instant Panasi could hear the inevitable crunch of Lled's boots in the snow, she was up and whining. Her soft mumbles and low, gutteral wuffs may have sounded bizarre to the unbeknowest Halo -- if the dog was unfamilliar with Siberian Huskies. Panasi had a sort of language of her own; she very seldom barked, sometimes howled; but more often then not made her point by whining and yodeling in that peculiar way of hers. The instant Panasi caught wind and sight of Halo, however, she shut up. Her brows furrowed and her muscles tensed as she stood, frozen, watching Lled and the new dog approach.

Who is this? she wondered, lowering her head and narrowing her eyes. It certainly wasn't Zan, that was for sure. Zan, though being a crossbreed much like Halo, couldn't have been any more different in the way he looked, smelled, and carried himself. Not to mention that Panasi could scent the gender of this new dog -- female. Panasi seldom got on well with other females -- as Lled had found out when 'introducing' Emiko's team (or, rather, leaving them chained nearby while Panasi slipped out of her collar and proceeded to antagonize Emiko's lead female).

But Panasi's first encounter with Zan had been different. Much different. The two dogs had met rather unexpectantly, due mostly to Lled's big heart and (once again) Panasi's notorious knack for escaping enclosures. At first, Panasi had regarded him just as any decent alpha would -- questioning weather he posed a threat by raising her hackles and bearing her teeth. He responded gravely and with a fair amount of submission, therefore guiding Panasi to accept him into her little two-person pack. Gradually, she became very fond of Zan, to the point that he became, to her, not only an inseperable part of the team, but of her life as well. Now that he was gone, it would be difficult to carry on alone.

The latter is mentioned only because it related directly to Halo and Panasi's soon-to-be encounter. She had accepted Zan so readilly due not only to the fact that her social needs had yet to have been fulfilled, but also for the fact that he was male -- and thus presented much less of a threat to her position. In every pack, there was room for two alphas; a male and a female. Because of this, when two females meet for the first time, there is certain to be conflict. However, now that Zan had left the team, Panasi was left feeling lonely and in dire need for some good canine socialization once again. Lord only knew how things would turn out between Panasi and Halo.

Lled approached the kennel, and Panasi trotted over to where the woman and dog stood, their breath streaming out in long puffs of vapor. She lowered her head, fixing her gaze upon Halo. Her tail did not wag -- it remained still, arched over her back in an authoritative way. Her nostrils flared as she sniffed carefully in Halo's direction, her hackles raised. There was a chain link fence seperating the two dogs -- as Panasi was inside the kennel and Halo was outside; attatched, by way of a lead, to Lled -- but Panasi did not seem to be aware of such fact.

After a moment, Panasi lowered her head and curled her lips, a long, low growl escaping her.

ooc: Yuck. Sorry it's so long. o___o

OOC: Found it. :) Stumbled apon it trying to catch up your your thread together.

IC:
Halo was trotted along behind Lled, the lead was un-nerving to her, but she didn't protest to greatly that is until the scent of another dog filled her nose. Her ears pricked forward as she slinked slowly towards the fence she stoped a few feet short.
Panasi didn't look the least bit friendly, her facial expressions and body language was evidence. Halo could tell the dog before her saw herself as 'alpha'. But that ment nothing to her, the hybrid was visibly larger than Panasi and she knew this.

A low growl escaped Halo's mouth, it was neither of fear or agression, it more said 'I'm not afraid, I won't fight you.' Halo kept her tail high as a sign of defiance. She wouldn't submit, to a dog smaller than her, it just wasn't in nature. In a true pack size didn't matter, she'd would have been forced into submission. And most likely killed or badly mamed for her defiance.

She had been afraid of this. They weren’t called bitches for nothing. Although she loved Panasi dearly, Lled had expected as much from her. In the aging musher’s experience, smaller breeds tended to have more to prove and be vicious little scrappers. In her years with malamutes, there had been fights between dogs but it was mostly a lot of talking and shoving each other around. She knew it would not be the case if she let Panasi and Halo go at it. And if the situation had been different, she might have let the two fight out the pecking order. It sounded cruel but sometimes it was the only way to have peace in the team.

However, it was far too early to resort to that. They had only just met and it was not as bad as it could have been. So far there was just a bunch of sizing up going on and no actual lunging. Hopefully with a few weeks of careful introductions things would work out. Lled really did not want to let them fight. It would have been easier but with only two dogs, she could not afford to lose either one. Better to sell Halo to a good handler than see her hurt. Still, Lled did not know if she wanted to even do that. Soft heart she was, she had grown attached to the spunky hybrid.

Lled tied Halo to a tree out of reach of the kennel door the slipped into the main kennel play area with Panasi. She was careful to keep her knee in front of her to block any escape attempts by crafty little Siberians. She double checked that the door was secure and took Panasi by the collar.

“Alright little Dancer,” she said with no sign of frustration. She had expected complications after all. “Time for you to go in your own kennel.”

She steered Panasi into a side kennel run with hay layered in the back with the little house.

“There you go, you crazy girl,” she said, fluffing Panasi up before closing the door and locking it. She crossed the play area, climbed through the door, and retrieved Halo. She put Halo in one of the kennels on the other side of the play yard, so that the large open runnign area lay between the two dogs' kennels. Although Halo's kennel was roofed like the other private runs, it lacked any hay. Lled would need to get some for Halo before nightfall. The nights were getting bitterly cold and she wasn't going to risk a dogfight inside the cabin. It would only breed more troubles to bring one dog in and leave one outside. Two was such a pain in the butt number. Three or more would have been much easier.

“Play nice you two,” she told them as she checked the locks one last time and left the kennel area to find some dry straw.

Halo looked around her, the fences was high all around her. With Panasi close on one side. The malamute didn't phase her, she ignored her and began sniffing around the yard. Sniffing around her square inch.

Halo assisted her surroundings wanting to know her escapes if needed. Digging, or climbing over the top of the fence. Halo glanced up, the top of the fence was sharp, to sharp for her to consider climbing over. Digging was her best bet. But Halo wasn't intrested in escape at the moment.
Halo's steps took her nearer to the side of the fence that beyond held Panasi as the hybrid walking around the perimitter of the incloseur. She glanced up, she could see Lled in the distance, a sound a mix of a howl and a bark escaped her muzzle in greeting, hoping Lled was coming back soon with food. She lingered at this side of the ard watching Lled another few minuntes then moved on along the permittiter.

She was now at the side where Panasi stood, she stood not two feet from the siberian. If the fence hadn't been there Halo would have been tottal nose to nose with her dareing her to come at her. The hybrid wagged her tail in a friendly manor wanting to make friends, not the least bit intrested in fighting.

OOC: Just got your message Lled, Sorry yea, kinda got mixed up. Panasi is now a sibie. LoL

Halo's decision not to submit annoyed Panasi, but she had to admit that she rather admired the female's pride. However, Halo had her tail in the air -- a not-so-nice way of saying 'I'm not going to listen to you, and I don't think you should be calling yourself alpha' -- and Panasi's instincts spurred her to leave behind her admiration and become enveloped by her anger and bull-headedness.

Panasi returned Halo's low, throaty grown with a sharp snarl of her own -- more vicious and intent than it had been before. She was no longer questioning Halo's mannor; she was now giving the female a clear warning - 'submit or pay the consequenses'. The little red female shifted her weight, pressing her wrinkled muzzle and exposed teeth against the chain link fence which separated the two females, as if poising herself to lunge at any given moment. It was then that Lled lead Halo away.

Panasi relaxed, returning to a more neutral position. As Lled returned for Panasi, the little female let her tail wave hapilly through the air. She peered briefly around Lled at the confined Halo as the woman carefully inched her way into the kennel, and the hairs of her neck raised momentarilly. Lled's voice, however, soon stole Panasi's attention, and Halo was forgotten for the time being.

Panasi allowed Lled to steer her out and into one of the side kennels. She yawned and stretched as Lled marched off in Halo's direction -- but did not lay down. She fixed her gaze on Halo, growling softly under her breath, as Lled lead the foreign dog to one of the opposing kennels.

"Play nice, you two," Lled instructed, but Panasi disregarded the woman's words.

The little red Siberian watched the mangy female inspect her kennel, and then turn her attention to Panasi. Halo's tail wagged, but she had already made her impression. No amount of tail wagging would repair Halo's reputation with Panasi. What the lead female wanted to see, now, was some belly. She'd forgive Halo's disrespect when she rolled over and submitted. Given Halo's previous display, however, that wasn't likely to happen.

"Listen, you little half-breed," Panasi called, her eyebrows furrowed and her head lowered. The hair along her spine was bristled and her legs were stiff, but there was a wry smile on her face. "I don't know who you think you are, but you can't come prancing into my territory, challenge my authority, and then just assume I want to play. This is my home, and as far as I'm concerned, you are not welcome here until you learn to show a little respect -- got it?"

Where was Zan when Panasi needed him?

Perhaps if she had someone else to back her up, getting Halo to submit wouldn't be so difficult.

ooc: Halo, don't mind Panasi. She's just being a brat. :]

OOC: LoL, brat is cool. Halo is just being stubborn.. :P She'll chill sooner or later.

IC: Halo rolled her eyes as she wondered why Panasi was so against her. "Yea yea.. submit, keep tail low.. respect alphas.." Halo said in a low growl. "Submitting not my style.. Can't we just be friends?" Halo begged with a low whine. She sat down looking at Panasi wating for her answer. She doubted the siberian would 'roll over' so to speak and accept her, Halo refuse to submit. It was on thing to sumbit to a human, she'd submitted when she and Lled had first met. But to a dog, one smaller than her at that, Halo snorted at the thought.

Halo turned looking towards where Lled had been she whined softly, so soft that Panasi hopefully wouldn't hear. She hoped, Lled would return with some food her stomach was growling. Halo was hungry yet again. She sighed, glancing back at Panasi she was tired of waiting for the siberian's answer. Besides she wanted food and she wanted it now. She walked towards the other side of the fenced inclosure, facing towards the 'den' where Lled slept. She then began to howl, like a wolf in the wild when they hyped the pack up for the nightly hunt. Her howl echoed in the cool air, her head high. She was begging wanting Lled to bring more food, hopefully meat. Halo's howl broke off momentarily as she licked her lips at the thought of a big juicy carbou. Her stomach growled again with that she took up her howl again. Calling, the new found, 'alpha' of her pack, Lled.

OOC:

Matters not to me Lled. I just have to get use to RPing with more than two people.
I'm rather use to doing one on one RPs. I like it with you and Panasi, it'll help me out, get back use to RPing with more than just the whole one on one thing.
Here's hoping ol' Panasi will come back into it.
But again totally your call, matters not to me. Just let me know. :)
