[dohtml]

Wolf Pack Hierarchy

All wolf packs have the same hierarchy, based on the Greek Alphabet. Packs do not have to use all the ranks if there are not an appropriate number of members. Pup ranks follow the same outline as the adult ranks.

Alpha -- A pack may have a single Alpha leader or two Alphas; either a male/female pair, or ocassionally a male/male or female/female pair may lead a pack. The Alpha(s) lead the pack, making all the important decisions concerning location and movement of the pack, acceptance of newcomers, and the general organization of the pack. Their word is law.

Beta -- The Beta is the Alpha's right-hand-wolf. There can be a single Beta, or a Beta Pair. The Beta(s) is the advisor to the Alpha; assisting them with whatever they may need, or carrying out any tasks they request. The Beta is an honored, highly trusted position.

Delta -- While the Beta is the Alpha's aide, the Delta is the Beta's aide. Wolves in the Delta rank usually closely monitor the borders, the movement of prey herds, and the actions of the other pack wolves whenever the Alpha or Betas are not around. The Deltas are powerful peace-keepers and gaurdians. There may be one Delta, or a Delta pair. In rare ocassions, when there are enough worthy canidates, there can be as many as three Delta ranking wolves.

Epsilon -- Pack wolf. Responsible (as all pack members are) for maintaining the pack's safety and assisting in hunts and raising pups.

Theta -- Pack wolf. Responsible (as all pack members are) for maintaining the pack's safety and assisting in hunts and raising pups.

Iota -- Pack wolf. Responsible (as all pack members are) for maintaining the pack's safety and assisting in hunts and raising pups.

Kappa -- Pack wolf. Responsible (as all pack members are) for maintaining the pack's safety and assisting in hunts and raising pups.

Sigma -- Pack wolf. Responsible (as all pack members are) for maintaining the pack's safety and assisting in hunts and raising pups.

Tau -- Pack wolf. Responsible (as all pack members are) for maintaining the pack's safety and assisting in hunts and raising pups.

Subordinates -- The 'omegas', generally newcomers to the pack that have not proved themselves to the Alphas yet, or have not fought their way into a higher rank, or wolves that have been 'punished' by the Alpha and higher ranking wolves and forced into a lower rank.

Note: Packs differ from one another like families and cultures differ from one another. The above titles are a guide line. Packs must have at least three wolves to claim a territory. Territory claims must be approved by admins before finalized and the map will be updated accordingly.
