Jayne had reached his room, and pulled out a few guns to clean. His stomach growled and he swore. "Gorram it. I wanted to get some grub." He thought for a moment about going back where there were now TWO crazy people, but his stomach growled again. "Aw, hell."

He climbed back out of room, grumpier than before and stomped back down the corridor to the galley. He got there in time to catch the tail end of the conversation going on.

"What, they BOTH gotta talk nonsense? Don't we got enough of that already with just HER?" He pointed vaguely at River. "What're they doin'? Better not mess up my food."

He moved in the direction of the kitchen area, ignoring everyone else but keeping a wary eye on the crazies.

((Welcome Jayne!!))

Kaylee smiled to herself as Jayne walked in. He was mean and rude- but he was good at protecting them if they needed it; and that was almost enough for her. She turned to him with a stern but sweet smile. "Jayne- no call to be snappy. You just sit there an' be nice. Your food will be fine." She said taking out some plates.

((Sorry it's not much- I'm gettin' ready for work but I wanted to give you something since it's been a while.))

OOC: Welcome Reka! Thanks for playing Jayne.

Dahlia glared at the newcomer to the galley, but it wasn't enough to distract her from her task. She had taken some of the packages and mixed them together in a pot. She tasted it and smiled, nodding.

She then brought it to the table and said, "Go ahead, it's good."

Mal took a little bit and warily tasted it, nodding his agreement. "So, you're like River? Two albatrosses, my luck must be turning..."

"No, you're still going to have bad luck," Dahlia said, taking a bite from her plate.

"Until you fix what's wrong..." River added.

'What's wrong?" Simon asked.

"Everything," Dahlia answered. "This wasn't supposed to happen, you're not supposed to be here...everything is wrong."

"So how do you conjure we fix this?" Mal asked.

The answer was silence. Dahlia didn't have an answer to that one.

Kaylee took her plate and joined the others. She wasn't sure what to say so she just listened. The thought of Mal still having bad luck worried her. Mostly because if he ha bad luck- it wasn't generally good for the rest of them. She looked to Simon when there was talk of fixing the problem. She assumed he was what they spoke of when they spoke of fixing it. She just hoped he could.

((I'm sorry it isn't much. I wanted to give you something.))

Simon noticed Kaylee looking at him as if he had the answer to the captain's question. But all he could say was, "It seems all of this is because of the artifact in the cargo bay."

"Conjure you're right," Mal replied.

"And the Alliance is very interested in it," Zoe commented. She had come in with the small girl and sat her on her lap. There were two plates in front of her, one was neat and one was messy. Hayley's face was as messy as her plate as she tried to feed herself.

The Alliance is interested in more than the artifact... Dahlia said in her mind as she looked at the girl.

"Yes, they are..." River whispered to her.

"Well, we're headed to wherever John Ranger wants us to go," Mal said. "Conjure we'll find the Alliance there too."

OOC: Everyone put in your replies, then I'm going to close this and fast forward to wherever we're going.

((Awesome Idea.))

Kaylee looked up confused- she had no idea what they had in the cargo bay. ((Or do I?)) But she figured most anything they took the Alliance wanted to get their hands on sooner or later. Not only because it was stolen but more times than not it was Alliance property. She figured it must be the same this time. Sometimes she hated conversations like this. Nothing about modifying the engine for a quick getaway, nothing about things she would know anything about. She felt almost useless because she never knew what to say.

((So if I'm supposed to know about what the thing is or if someone told me I'm sorry....my brain is broken and I just woke up so I forgot lol. I hope this is an okay post- again not quite knowing what to say.))

Jayne looked at Kaylee as if she'd sprouted seven extra legs. "I don't get paid to be nice. 'sides," he continued, watching Mal's caution with the new crazy girl's cooking, "it ain't a good idea to mess with a man's grub."

The conversation wandered on without him. Something about the thing they just brought on board and something else. The crazies were being crazy and talking crazy stuff. Mal's words caught his attention, though, and he looked up again from his rummaging in the cabinets.

"Ain't we s'pposed to get a job? So we can get paid? You know, cashy money?"
