Midtown South of the theatre district of St. Louis. With the Fox Theatre, the Sheldon Concert Hall, and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra all nearby, it has been at times described as the second downtown of St. Louis. The Midtown neighborhood of the City is bounded by Olive Street and Delmar Boulevard to the north via North Compton Avenue and Chouteau Avenue to the south. To the east lies North and South Jefferson Avenue and to the west lies North and South Vandeventer Avenue.

Botanical Heights The Botanical Heights neighborhood is defined by Chouteau Avenue on the North, Interstate 44 on the South, 39th Street on the East and Vandeventer Avenue on the West. This near Southside neighborhood is located just north of the Shaw neighborhood. For St. Louis visitor safety, STAY AWAY from this area. It's one of the many ghettos of St. Louis and once the sun sets turns into an area filled with crime.

Lafayette Square It surrounds Lafayette Park which is the city's oldest public park, created by ordinance in 1836. The neighborhood is one of the oldest in St. Louis. Central West End The Central West End is an eclectic, cosmopolitan showplace of St. Louis. Located in the central corridor of the city, just north of Forest Park, the area is a popular gathering place. A fine selection of restaurants and sidewalk cafes are nestled in with notable art galleries, antique shops, specialty shops, boutiques and bookstores. The area was created during the period of the City's westward expansion in the late 19th century and the building boom of the 1904 World's Fair.

Fort de Chartres Fort de Chartres was erected as a wooden fort near the banks of the Mississippi River by France's colonial government in 1720. The fort, named in honor of Louis duc de Chartres, son of the regent of France, consisted of a palisade of squared logs surrounded by a dry moat. In 1753 - 56, the fort was rebuilt of with massive limestone quarried from the bluffs north of Prairie du Rocher. It became one of the strongest forts in North America and the key to French defenses in what is now the United States.
