Brief Bio »
Damien was born an army child in the Southern half of Beirut during the summer of 1993, amidst the civil strife that had occurred in the nation. His father was based in Lebanon when the pregnancy occurred, but he had no time initially to react but to allow it to happen in the base housing. His father, a Sandhurst graduate, had moved to England as a youth from Egypt with his family. He had met his mother after his training was complete and they had wed five years before. Now, she was giving birth to their first child in a war zone.
Damien was born a healthy baby boy at their home and as soon as they were able to, the family returned to England to raise their young child. Before he was born, Damien’s parents had decided that his father would act as a disciplinarian while his mother would smother him and spoil him. They hoped that this would work to a great affect and he would do well with his life. He was homeschooled until the age of ten, when they enrolled him in the local schools in their hometown, Welwyn Garden City, a new town of London.
He did quite well for himself in the schools he had entered and things seemed quite normal in his development compared to that lives of most others. His home was stable and by the time he was sixteen, he had a baby sister in his life to take care of and guard with his life. That would be put to the test on a cold October day.
Seventeen year-old Damien had awoken to the sound of glass breaking in his little sisters crib. His parents were out and he had turned out for an afternoon nap. Reacting quickly, he ran across the hall into his parent’s room and searched under the bed. There, he found his father’s service pistol and proceeded to walk out the door. The minute he stepped out, he eyed for the men. They were walking out of his sister’s room. Damien stepped back and returned to his parent’s room. Guns were rare in this age and the sight of one worried him beyond the one in his hand.
He went around and peeked over the frame. Three men were standing at the center. One had his sister. Without planning or thinking, Damien held the gun out and fired straight at the three men. Each bullet made their mark in the back of their skull. Luckily the man who had his sister fell on his back and Mia was left unharmed.
Still, there was something strange about what had occurred. After calling the police, he was given looks of disbelief. The shots were not only well-placed, but they were perfectly placed. All three were kill shots. He was asked if he had ever held a gun before and denied it. The officers were in awe and would tell his father as much once he got home.
His father saw Damien’s aiming capabilities as something that could benefit him in life. So, once the officers left, his father found them a home closer to the center of London in order for Damien to enter a more rigorous school in order for him to take his A-levels. As his father explained, with his amazing shooting capability, Damien could do great things in the Army. With his lineage, his father was sure he could enter Sandhurst if he studied hard enough on his exams. Damien had no idea how to act, but to accept it. In some ways, he learned to love this career path life had showed him. For his father, Damien became single-minded and focused on his goal, honing his gift when he could. Sandhurst was now his goal, and with the talents he possessed, Damien was sure he was going to make the grade.
