I am thinking of making an MMORPG, i will be using the engine Eclipse and wanted to know if i would have your guys supports and i would also need ideas for the storyline.

STORY LINE IDEA #1:

Alright set in the steam time two steam companies known as Steam Error 404 and PipeTendo were rivalling companies, they would both fight to gain the most sales.

The two companies would fight it out in a battle field using all thier latest creations of steam powered weapons, the battle field would link the two companies maps together.

FEATURES:

[x] A battle zone where the two companies would fight it out
[x] the ability to create unique weapons in game
[x] each company would have different classes.

I am open to new storyline and feature ideas, as this is just 1 i came up with while reading some old posts on the forum...

Hmm, that'd be pretty cool...

Let's see; personally I'm a fan of SteamPunk and CyberPunk.
As for a story... I'm not too sure just yet... though I'm more then willing to help out in that department.

Oh, sorry... I thought the terms were well known.


SteamPunk... is a branch of Science Fiction, where the world uses mostly steam power...
Often in SteamPunk themed media, there is often use of large pipes around towns, buildings and so fourth...

Examples:
In the latest series of .hack// G.U. "The World R:2" uses SteamPunk as a base for the in-game portion of the game.
Though I haven't seen it yet, "Steam Boy" the anime movie, seems to revolve around SteamPunk.


CyberPunk... On the other hand, jumps into the future, where technology is truly superior to just about everything.
Sometimes it even takes place inside a computer system...

Some good examples of CyberPunk are:
The movie Tron (Also featured as a world in Kingdom Hearts 2)
the "New" Star Wars Trilogy (movies 1-3)
The Matrix movies, revolve around CyberPunk. (An example of being in a computer system as well...)
The .hack// series is an interesting take on CyberPunk.

Hmm, well if you're looking for ideas, this one's been floating around in my head for some time... and it's CyberPunk.

Project name: De-Buggers

Story: You're a debugger, and you pull double duty as a network security guard for one of 3 big companies, but you're not just any debugger...

Instead of spending countless hours in front of a computer screen, laughing at feeble attempts to gain access to the mainframe… No instead you are actually warped into the computer system and you fight off viruses, worms, and hacking attempts… and let me tell ya it seems like everyone and their brother is trying to get in… get your Photon Debugger ready, it’s going to be a though job but someone’s gotta do it.

Races:
Users: Users are humans who have “logged in” to the mainframe. They can level up according to the way they want to fight viruses.
Programs: Programs are just that, programs, once they are assigned a job they can’t deviate from that path however they can truly master it.

Jobs:(names undecided)
Attacker: These units are often overlooked, but these are the main defense against a virus, or hacker, as they kill any viruses, or worm that dare try to harm the system.

Defender: Talk about a tank, these guys can take a massive beating, but aren’t quite as good as dishing it back out… they also posses many functions that

Magic User: These folks aren’t as well suited to rushing out to fight. They carry a number of different functions though, and are able to inflict damage is unexpected ways, or even heal damaged or corrupt data in other Users and Programs.

Thief: These guys don’t waist time, they are fast, and can easily steal data from just about anything, even harmful data like Viruses, and put it to good use.

Unique Job: Each company should have a job just for that company.

Hmm, now for goals of the game…
The three companies are rival companies, and are attempting to: Steal, Damage, Destroy, or just plain Infect… The other companies’ data.
Some missions may be Job Specific. For example there may be some data that needs to be taken from a number of programs…
Other missions could be; to stop, and attack a hacking attempt; where you must head though an enemy infested area and damage, destroy, or infect the hackers’ central processor.

Hmm… well the basic idea had been floating around in my head but now that it’s on paper, it doesn’t seem as fleshed out… still what do you think?

Sounds good, cant think of any criticism for im but we still need more ideas and a sprite style developed for the game :/
