OOC: Posting an NPC rider.
And the authorities did eventually arrive. At least, from Benden they did. S'ror of blue Larth touched down on the sandy beach next to the gutted beast. The large man untied himself as his dragon curled in his wings, releasing himself from the straps. A deep scowl marred his face and when he took his helmate off one could see the furrow marks in his brow.
What in the shells was this thing? The dolphins just keep telling me it's a big, big, danger. From his position near the coast, Larth had his head dipped down and was talking to the squeeing ship fish. They really were quite agitated.
Slipping from his dragons back, S'ror hit the ground squarely on his feet. He tucked his helmate under his arm and ran a gloved hand through shaggy black hair. How were they going to deal with this mess? The creature was so big. And after a quick look, it was obvious someone had gutted the creature. The lines were too smooth for something to have ripped its way out. Maybe they were after the organs?
Another brief investigation indicated that they were all there. Which meant something else had been taken from the beast. Larth, inform all the Weyrleaders that we might have a problem. Wrinkling his nose at the decaying creature, S'ror turned his attention to the dolphins as his blue addressed the Weyrleader's dragons. Mine wishes to inform all of you that you should tell yours that there might be a problem. Something was taken out of the big serpent thing. Something indeed, something...interesting.

It wasn't long before a Fort dragonrider appeared as well, having been in the vicinity flying when the call went out. Royerath dipped his orangey-bronze wings, circling the beach for a moment before dropping to the land. We need to check this out and then report to G'ren as soon as possible. Agreed. A Benden Blue is here as well.... As Royerath settled to the ground, he directed his attention momentarily to the Blue and his rider. Greetings. I am Royerath from Fort, with T'ier, wingleader. Can you make anything of this... thing? At the word 'thing', Royerath caught a whiff of the scent of decay and snorted in disgust.
T'ier had slipped off Royerath by this point, removing his wherhide jacket and tossing it on the closest convenient branch. He rolled up his tunic sleeves as he approached the dead object cautiously. T'ier smiled grimly at the bluerider, saying, "Thanks for sending out that message... I'm T'ier from Fort, rider of Royerath." He crouched a fair distance away from the sliced open creature, eyeing it curiously. He'd never seen anything like it in his life... "Have you been here long?" He examined the cut mark with his sight, noting the straight, even cut and the spilled guts. Something was definitely taken from the creature. But what?

If you would use your mind and think before you flame, you would know why Yours had to hurt you, Schwarzth hissed as she landed on the bench, quiet a bit away from the creature that had washed up on the sands. As Her's slipped from her back, his little Mynx was sent fluttering back to Schwarzth, clutching at the Coal, sending images and mixed feelings of danger, big, big danger. It was easy to see that whatever this thing was, none of the creatures liked it, much less wanted to be around it.
Seeing T'ier introducing himself to the Bender Bluerider, J'mot took a look over his shoulder at his two girls. Will you be alright by yourself for a few moments? he questioned Schwarzth, getting only a grunted growl back from the Coal, who had already relaxed onto the sands, waiting for him to come back. That wasn't like her, but he wasn't going to complain.
Moving toward the other Riders, J'mot kind of stood back for just a moment, until there was an opening in the conversation, then he stepped a little closer. "Fort Rider J'mot of Coal Schwarzth," he offered, dipping his head respectfully to T'ier. The Bronzerider wasn't his Wingleader, but he was still A Wingleader. "My Schwarzth heard that the other Coal in the Weyr was on the move and demanded not to be left out," he stated, shrugging his shoulders and glancing back at the creature. "Do we have any clue what it is yet?" he asked, having missed a bit of the conversation.

Having missed his chance to go on Search with the other Searchriders, due to illness at the time, K'ser wasn't about to miss the strange news about a creature that had washed up on shore. So with his Oranith in hot pursuit, they came out from between within seconds of J'mot, though they didn't land right away, as Oranith was allowing his mate to get comfortable before he slowly started to land and dropped down on the cool sand. And now I'm in heaven, the Blue mentioned as K'ser slipped from his back. I figured you would be, you lug, the Bluerider mentioned, as he slowly moved away from the Blue.
Like his mate's, K'ser's little gold Thief fluttered back to Oranith before he was even four steps away from the dragon. It was highly unlike her, as the little gold seemed more taken with his mate's Coal. However, there were times when the gold figured Oranith would be more protection than the aggressive Coal, which was very strange. Considering the Blue seemed to always cave to the Coal, he figured the little gold would run to her, but hey, what could he say. His firelizard was still very young.
Shaking his head, K'ser turned from the dragons and moved toward his mate. As soon as he was near J'mot, he reached out and placed his hand on the Coalrider's shoulder, letting him know that he was here and basically not to step back, for he would be stepping all over him. He dipped his head to the other Riders, but his eyes kept traveling back to the creature.

Mine, that coal approaches. T'ier, distracted, turned his head just in time to see Ararielth land and poise over the corpse. And flames lick around her muzzle. Ararietlh! Control yourself. We need to examine it yet. Royerath quickly snarled upon the sight, even as E'ryc tackled her muzzle--dangerous but effective. "E'ryc, I believe it is?", Tier questioned the Coalrider, looking disapprovingly at Ararielth. If you cannot control yourself, Ararielth, then please return to the weyr. Royerath calmly informed the Coal, tail tip twitching in irritation.
However, another Coal had just landed and her rider joined the group as well. Royerath turned to glance at this newcomer, then upon recognition, added a greeting. Welcome, Schwarzth. T'ier nodded at J'mot, replying, "T'ier of Bronze Royerath. This... creature. As of yet, we only know it came from the sea and someone got here first. It appears as if they took something from the creature. I would guess organs. Or, if the thing is female, maybe its young." He had been considering this idea since seeing the creature's guts. It had looked as if one of the organs inside had been punctured as well. The only reason T'ier could come up with is that the thing had been pregnant.
As yet another rider came up, this time behind J'mot, T'ier merely dipped his head shortly in greeting. He had no time to properly greet the man, as here came the Lord Holder of Tillek. Send another message to Megaltroth and Weyrleader G'ren, please. Royerath turned to watch the lord holder as he attempted to contact Megaltroth. Megaltroth? Tillek's lord has arrived on the beach where the creature lays. Mine wished to inform you of this new development. He also thinks that there is a possibility of the thing's young being stolen from its dead belly. As Royerath finished his message, the Lord Holder approached T'ier and began shooting anxious questions.
"I am Wingleader T'ier of Bronze Royerath from Fort Weyr, Lord." T'ier introduced himself politely, though he then listened to the man's concerns--wasn't Tillek's lord named Taureon or something like that? "Lord Holder, we must consider the possibility that there are more. However, since this is the first one we have discovered, I personally would deduce that these creatures avoid our presence. Have your ships been troubled lately by anything? I cannot speak for Fort Weyr as I am not the Weyrleader, lord. I will inform our leader of your concerns, however, and contact you with the weyr's decision." That seemed appropriate enough, and hopefully it would not anger Tillek's lord. Fort needed the support of as many holds as possible.
