Regarding Makinet/Mackinett/McKennet/Maquinet Line

This information is from an email by Terry Pea concerning Rachel Maquinet, wife of Jacob Pea/Pie, born ca1740. Following the links provided will show Rachel's ancestors, back to Charles Makinet, born in Germany.

I believe the name started in Germany. Within one generation, those several spellings for the name developed. Charles Makinet, b. in Germany (1690) came to Lancaster County, PA and attending a German & French Huguenot 1st Reform Church, where both languages were spoken.

Jacob Pie may have been either German of French. Some records indicate that Jacob died (1795) in Knox County, Indiana, but as I mentioned to Richard, Indiana was formed in 1830 so his location was actually in Virginia in 1795. (But I'm not fighting that in this discussion, just bringing it to your attention.)

The company is based in France and most of the information is originally in French, but they cover world wide and their translations to English is pretty darn nice. There are periodic entries for PEA, but are usually for a Hawaiian or Italian name, common in both languages.

Page numbers indicate that two are missing, pages 5 and 6, but I'm not sure if those contained more information, or just photos and weren't included on purpose. I have converted the pdf to jpg images to save disk space.
