Squig hoppers Boing rule states that they "always travel a full 3D6" in the compulsory move.

I believe this was written with the intent related to terrain - since they are skirmishers they move thru woods and other difficult terrain without penalty

However, I've seen some debate on forums like Da Warpath as to whether this means that Hoppers would stop when they hit a friendly unit (like a Spawn would) or hop over them on their way to the enemy in order to "travel a full 3D6".

I see advantages to both (by being able to stop at a friendly unit you can make sure they stay positioned where you want them ... by being able to hop over a unit you can take an enemy by surprise and protect the hard hitting hoppers with a screen)

How do you guys think this should be played?

There is no rule supporting that a friendly unit can Hop over another friendly unit....errr unless you fly smile.gif

The unit stops if it hits a friendly unit.
