A. Out of Character
i. Respect
Respect of other members is 100% mandatory. Whether they be an admin or even a guest, they deserve at least humane treatment ( I would hope, at the very least, you would be a little nice to them too.)
ii. No Fighting
Like it says, no fighting. If you really want to have a “heated debate”, keep it to PMs and don’t drag the admin(s) into your fight. Keep your filth off of our clean boards and out of the cbox.
iii. No Spamming No spamming for post count, and no advertising in the cbox. Keep it to the advertising boards.
iv. Cusses
This issue will be addressed again in character vulgarity with a different rule, but as for out of character keep it to a minimum.
v. Username
The only time you will register with a name that isn’t your character’s name is if you have been accepted as a mod or an admin. If you are a mod or admin, make your login name whatever you want (though we prefer just your name or nickname). When you register with a character name, it will be the first and last name, both capitalized. Example: Mary Smith. No decorations, for they can be an eyesore. Keep your creativity to signatures and icons.
vi. Character limitations
When starting off, you may create three characters at the most. Once each of those characters has at least 25 posts, (the majority being IN CHARACTER) you may create a fourth. Once that has 25 posts, a fifth, and so on. But, you must ask permission of an admin before creating another character. If we think you aren't able to handle another character, or that you aren't active enough with your others, we will deny your request.
vii. Activity
You joined this site to roleplay, so roleplay. It is extremely rude to leave people waiting and wondering when or if they will get a response for unreasonable peroids of time. It also holds back the plot, since all characters are encouraged to play a part.
After one week of uninformed inacticity, you will be warned through PM. (Activity in the Cbox does NOT count.) After a second week of unexcused inactivity your inactive character(s) will be moved to the graveyard and/or made cannons.
If you leave an absense notice that doesn't contain a set time frame (example: I am busy, I will be back... Eventually.) then you have two weeks after the notification is posted. We will then PM you, and if there is no answer OR you don't become somewhat active again, we will have to delete your account.
If you leave a notice with a time frame (example: On vacation! Back in 2 weeks!) you will have that time frame PLUS a week to return to activity. If that doesn't happen, we will PM you. Another week, and you know what happens.
Activity in OUR eyes is at least one post every two or three days.
If you return and your character (if a cannon) has not been taken up by someone else, you may have your character back. This may only happen once. If you are innactive a second time, your character will not be returned to you.
viii. Getting rid of characters
As we have previously stated, you are required to be active in your roleplaying. If you feel that one (or more) of your characters isn't being played enough, you may ask for them to be removed. They must be removed in a way that makes sense. (Example: Sickness, moving to another country, ect.) If your character is a key player in the plot, they will be made into a cannon OR re-opened if they already were one.
B. In Character
i. Post length To start a topic, your reply must be at least 400 words long. I am not very strict with this rule, but please, if you plan to start a topic you need to set the scene.
A reply to a topic must be at least 200 words in length. I am being very lenient with this one, so I do expect at least 200 words. If this rule is found to be broken more than three times, it will result in a warning. If it is broken even once after that, it will result in a temporary ban. Come on, guys. Everyone wants something nice and descriptive to reply to. Not just "Okay," John said.
ii. Sexual content
Keep everything rated R+ to PMs, but be sure to keep everything ELSE in the forum.
Example (Do not use this example as a literal roleplay sample accepted on this website): “Mary kissed Bob.” “Bob began to remove Mary’s clothing.” -Roleplay is continued in PM- -Roleplay is resumed in the thread once it is PG13 again- “Mary woke up after her long night with Bob, donned her clothing, and went home.”
Make sure you respect the roleplaying limits of all members.
iii. God-Moding
The application has been set up in a way where god-moding should be weeded out. You will realize your character is perfect if you cannot fill out each section completely. In case you haven’t figured it out, this isn’t allowed.
iv. Character Limitations
At Orchid Wine we do have a small, restricted choice of mythical/fantasy creatures. Each of these creatures have limiting traits that make them a bit harder to roleplay.
Ex: Witches go mad the more powerful they are.
Make sure your character follows the guidelines for these creatures. Feel free to suggest a new breed, but do not expect it to always be accepted.
v. Cusses
Cussing is allowed, but in character. I don't want to see one character calling another the "n" word.
vi. Post Requirement
Two paragraphs, four sentences each is the minimal required reply. Make it three paragraphs if you're starting a topic. I will turn my head the other way for violations of this rule at times, but annoyingly short posts will be noted, and action will be taken after repeated offences. (If you aren't finished with a post, simply make sure you note that somewhere within the reply, and you finish it later.)
