Name: Charlotte
Contact Information: PM please, on my admin account.
Roleplay Experience: I think I've been a part of about seven sites throughout my roleplaying lifetime, all except one I was a member on, the other a co-admin. Sadly, the main admin let the site die.
Posting Style: Usually I reply with three to five paragraphs, depending on the post I'm replying to and how much action is going on, and how quickly things are moving. It takes me about 20-30 minutes to type up a nice reply, quicker if I'm really excited. =D I could probably work more on... Hmm... Overall quality? Detail? Length? Basically everything. Improvement is good. On that note, always feel free to chuck some constructive criticism my way. =] If you can't take it in, don't dish it out, I always say.

Character Introductions

Full Name: Wilhelm Zacharias Grimm
Age: Twenty
Nationality: Arcadian/Eldorian
Physical Description:
He's taller than most, but not to much that an average sized person would need to look up to him. If one guessed him to be six feet, they would not be too far off. Wil's build didn't seem very out of the ordinary, neither exceptionally strong nor weak. He was fast, though, prefering flight to fight. He chose sneakier means of battle, ones that fit his physique. Brain mattered more to Wil than brawn.

Wil's hair was a dark shade of brown, but not so dark it blurred the line between chocolate and onyx. It fell to just above his shoulders in loose curls, which could barely be called curls. His hair always seemed messy, so Wil prefered to solve that problem by pulling all of his hair back and tying it with a small leather strap. Most often this was how his hair would be found.

Framed by the dark chocolate locks was a strong face with sharp angles, weather beaten despite his age. His skin was a light tan, the color of the Eldorians. Warm brown eyes rested beneath thick eyebrows, possibly the only inviting feature about his face. It was why, possibly, people looked him in the eye more than others when they spoke with him. Wil's nose was just barely crooked, hardley noticable from even a close distance. It was from a breakage that never healed quite properly.

The final, and probably most intriguing property of Wil's face would be his mouth. A cheeky, boyish grin constantly lingered on his mouth, a smile that suggested he knew more than you wanted him to. Something that could have been quite true, in Wil's case. His lips were a brown tinged with pink, and they were almost too thin for Wil's liking, for he felt they made him seem like he had too many secrets. Which wasn't exactly a falsehood.

As for clothing, Wil prefered the more simplistic look, somewhere between middle and lower class, closer to lower. His single vanity would be his cotton tunics, because Wil could not stand wearing wool on his torso. To make up for the expensive cotton fabric, he wore the cheapest breeches he could find, and simply replaced them frequently. He had to uphold his lower class cover, but his hatred of wool was a sacrifice he was not willing to give up.

Occupation: Writer/Publisher in The Appeal

Social Class: He has earned well enough to be a Middle Class, but holds a Lower Class cover. (see History for better description) His brother and him are even richer than some nobles, and would be Nobility themselves if they were of the right blood

In-Depth Characterization

History:

Wilhelm originated from Eldor, but was moved to Saint Bard Island at a very young age. His father, Zacharias Grimm, was a wine merchant, mostly working with numbers, keeping records of the wine exported. He originated from Arcady. His mother, Bella Poynter, was an extremely beautiful woman, who danced in the streets for her supper. She was from Eldor. One day, as Zacharias roamed the streets of a town in Eldor (he was there to supervise the wine trade at the time) in search of a seamstress to mend a tear in his shirt, he spotted Bella and was immediately stricken. Soon they were married and birthed two boys-- First Wilhelm, then Jacob. Though Wilhelm had been the elder of the two, he was much more submissive as a child. He was the sugary sweet boy, always giving out compliments and picking flowers for his mother. Some of that sweet little boy carried on with him to older years.

But back to his family. When Wilhelm was four and just learning Eldorian, his father decided life would be easier of the family moved to Saint Bard Island, where wine was a larger export.

The family never settled in Saint Bard perfectly, though their life was much more elaborate, with nicer things, and food was more plentiful. Wil grew up in a stable home, and when he was fifteen, old enough to live on his own, Zacharias and Bella decided they would move back to their homeland, for the homesickness was finally getting the best of them. They offered for the brothers to come along, but both declined. Eagerly the two started off as laborers, doing any odd jobs they could get. Eventually, after about three years, they saved up enough money to have a printing press quietly sent from another country. Writing had always been the passion of both of them, and for the first year they had their printing press all they really made were fliers. Annoying, but easily ignored by the strict government. It was when Wil was 18 that the paper was thought of. Quickly they wrote and circulated a semi-regular newspaper, something that quickly became popular because of the sheer way it was unfiltered, and completely against the government's set laws. They called it The Appeal, a catchy name they thought would pull interest. Apparently it worked. The paper came out, and within three different printings was in high demand, and consumed much of the brothers' time.

Because of this, the brothers decided that a regular production date was much too risky, and they became very irregular. They would send it out on a constandly changing day of the week, sometimes skipping two, three, or even four weeks between printings. Being discovered was the last thing they wanted, because as the printers of this illegal paper thye were now considered fugitives. They were being violently searched for, but the guardsmen never dared try to shut down the stores that sold it, for the people were on the verge of rebellion as it was. The paper, though as much of a nusiance as it was, might have been the single thread that held the people together. Getting rid of it would have to be done quietly, and would have to be disconnected from all commoners.

Now Wil and Jacob have enough money, possibly, as one of the lesser Upper Class people. They still keep their cover of odd job men, but they don't take jobs much, because they don't have time to constantly work in the open and run the paper. They would never think of showing their money off, the paper being much too precious to them. The two decided to even take on a Lower Class cover, buying cheaper clothes and storing their money away in the same secret place they hide their printer. Even their home is furnished scarcely.

Relatives:

Wil has a single brother, and two parents he doesn't keep in contact with for their own safely. If his press was ever discovered, he couldn't guarentee the safety of anybody publicly close to him. None of his friends know his secret, with very few or no exceptions.

Father, Zacharias Grimm, 39
Mother, Bella Poynter, 34
Brother, _____ Grimm, __

Personality Description:

Wil is the reserved type, normally quiet and pensive. Yet, he would never hesitate to speak his mind, either. He thinks before he speaks, considers multiple options, all in less than a second. He is a very intelligent man, but choses to display his brilliance through shifty cleverness that constantly keeps one wondering. Wil can disappear well, whether it be melting into the shadows or blending with a crowd. He's perfected the art of being overlooked, but definately cannot be missed when he craves attention, although this is quite rare.

When it comes to a romantic light, Wil is the definition of 'secret admirer'. He leaves roses, simple yet stunning poetry, and other gifts in places he knows a woman will notice, or with people he knows she will pass. He tends to favor dancers or street performers, especially those with dark hair, skin, and eyes. They remind him of his mother, a woman he dearly misses but would never dare start contact with again. Mysteriousness also intrigues Wil, those who come and go abruptly as he does. Eventually, though, if a lass falls for Wil, he becomes bored. If she is always there when he looks, forever listening to him, or adoring him too much for his liking, he will forget her and break contact.

His letters can be extremely persuasive as well, bringing many to do as he wishes. But of course, it doesn't work for all. Especially those with an intellect to match his own. He loves battles of wits, and intelligence is a very attractive quality to him, whether it be in a potential friend or lover.

Wil loves the bottle, as most writers do, but doesn't hold his alcohol well. His tongue becomes slippery, and his manners sloppy. He avoids drinking publicly at all costs, but will if persuaded well enough. Now, in light of the poisoned wine, he stays even further away from the bottle.

Wil is far from a pushover, though. If he feels like he is being manipulated in the slightest way, he gets angry and will retreat into a shunning of the person, or he will yell and scream and be done with it. Wil's temper is fast, but ends even faster. He's very forgiving, to an extent. Sometimes his forgiving nature has gotten him into trouble.

Strengths: Clever, intelligent, blends well or stands out (by choice), romantic, looks before he leaps.
Weaknesses: Temper, overly forgiving, has a terrible time holding alcohol,

Quirks and Habits: A sly smile, usually flashes it just before he departs, and tends to have it printed on his face when he arrives somewhere, or spots someone he knows.

Bonus Section (Optional)

Nicknames: Wil
Love Life: (See personality)
Self Esteem: High, but he's not so confident that it clouds his vision. He knows he writes well, but many times doubts his emotional stability. Takes criticism well.
Favorite Possession: His printing press, his mother's cape.
Trademark: sly smile
Prejudices: None.
Plot Ideas: Wil & Jacob know about the wine poisonings, but are keeping it very secret until it will benefit them and the paper the most.

How the paper is run:

Everything is corresponded by letter, and messenger boys are hired to deliver them, given extra coin for secrecy. A letter, sealed with wax, is passed to the boy. He brings it to a shopkeeper, who reads the note which contains a dropoff spot (for payment) and a pickup spot (for papers). The envelope is then returned to the Grimes. If there is a signed letter of confirmation, saying the envelope was recieved unopened, the boy leaves with his life and extra coin. If the letter is recieved unconfirmed, or the boy doesn't return, he is found and killed.

The messenger is never consistant, changing constantly each time a new paper is produced.

The paper comes out on very irregular dates, having to do with weather, public, and how Wil and Jacob are feeling at the moment. The two could never risk having the paper too consistant, for fear of being discovered.

Appeal Timeline:

-Paper is written and printed by Grimms
-Messengers are sent out to stores (only stores that are approved by the brothers as trustworthy) with letters.
-Letters are returned to the Grimms, confirmed by the store owner or not.
-Money is dropped off by store owner at dropoff point.
-Money is picked up after shopkeeper leaves.
-Newspapers are left at pickup point.
-Papers are taken by shopkeeper.
-Papers are sold to public.
