After all planes crash, and apparently clowns kill.JUST WHEN EVERY DAY SEEMED TO GREET ME WITH A SMILE • • •Nicknames: None • • •Age: ageless, though the vessel is 35 years of age. • • •Birthdate: The vessel's is August 19. Ramiel has no birthday. • • •Occupation: One of Raphael's Lieutenants • • •Sexuality: Heterosexual • • •Hometown: Heaven. His vessel is from Jasper, Alabama • • •Character Type: Angel • • •Play By: Eric Bana SUNSPOTS HAVE FADED AND NOW I'M DOING TIME • • •Talents:Along with all the other angelic powers, Ramiel has a talent for working with memory and vision. He's also quite skilled at thinking on his feet and accommodating unforeseen problems. Also, his vessel is quite skilled with firearms, though he does not usually require that skill. • • •Special Knowledge:Ramiel is higher up in the food chain than your average Raphael followers, so some of, though by no means all, of their side's plans fall within his level of classification. He also still maintains his responsibility over divine revelation. • • •Powers and Vulnerabilities:Ramiel has your basic angelic power pack: he's immortal, pretty hard to kill, can transport himself and others around instantly, can heal with a touch, can kill demons with a touch, can feel for souls, is superhumanly strong, can be invisible when he chooses, has telekinetic abilities, and supernatural perception abilities. Unlike some of his siblings, he's not too good with the whole time travel/altering reality bit, nor resurrections.
He does, however, have an affinity for memories, visions and revelations. Rather than being garrisoned as most angels are, he was given care of prophets by God. One of his primary responsibilities is the delivery of revelations to prophets. Though as he is not an archangel, it is not within his jurisdiction to protect them.
He is vulnerable to all things angels are vulnerable to: holy oil, Enochian sigils, angel blades, Death's scythe, and of course his more powerful brothers. • • •Reputation:Ramiel is generally considered a popular angel. Before civil war broke out, he was well liked and congenial. Now that it has, he is within the upper ranks of Raphael's forces and that fact is well known by both sides. • • •Personality: Ramiel’s a really great guy. No, really. NO REALLY. Ok, you can stop laughing now.
Ramiel is probably among the well-adjusted angels when it comes to understanding human kind. Unfortunately for those around him, well-adjusted is not the same as normal. He has, over the last several thousand years or so, developed what the humans call “a sense of humor” and employs it frequently, at least when his job doesn’t require him to be serious. He recognizes the gravity of his job and the things they do, but chooses not to let it rule his behavior. He often attempts to lighten to mood with little jokes or comments, despite the fact that he knows this annoys most of his fellows. Of course, none of this applies when he’s “on the job.” Oh, he’s still light hearted. But he tones down being purposely irritating.
Despite the fact that he comes off as a fool most of the time, Ramiel is actually pretty big-hearted. He cares about the well being of both his fellow angels and the people his father created. However, he's also the big picture type. And in this big picture, there is no room for disobedience. He’s extremely dedicated to his profession, doing anything and everything required of him. He’s not much of a planner; setting out the basics ahead of time, then going with whatever happens. He’s often described as “rash” and “impulsive.” But he gets things accomplished no matter what kinks are thrown in his way by using his “impulsiveness” to make split second decisions. He's not the best of Raphael's lieutenants, but he's certainly an efficient one.
At the end of the day, Ramiel really is a busy guy, so he doesn’t like to waste time or attention on stupid things or people. He is more than a little impatient with those who waste his time, and can be quite derogatory when the mood strikes him. He tends to talk with his fists (or powers, same thing) and thus he's just about always ready for a fight. The jobs he’s had to do in service to both his Father and Raphael don’t haunt him like they do some of the recent dissenters. “Freedom” is not a concept angels were meant to understand, nor is disobedience. Ramiel firmly believes that Michael and Raphael's cause is the proper one the angels were meant to rally behind. HOW WOULD I KNOW THAT THIS COULD BE MY FATE? • • •Family:Ramiel's family consists of all the angels as his siblings and God as his father. His vessel has parents, Michael and Jenny, that he is quite close to, so Ramiel keeps up that contact for appearances sake. • • •History: Michael Young was the preacher of a small congregation of a small church in a small town. His high school sweetheart and wife, Jenny, was the first grade teacher down at the elementary school. They didn’t lead a life of luxury, but they had more than enough for them and a little one. Enter Colter. He was possibly the most adorable little boy to set foot in their little town. He charmed all the older women in the church (especially the ones who carried candy in their purses) from the time he was a year old. He wasn’t a bit shy and had this innocent openness about him that was alluring. By the time he was five, there wasn’t a person in town who didn’t know him and he them fairly well. He was, for the most part, a good kid. However, kids will be kids and his charm was the perfect cover for trouble. So when he did misbehave, who could punish such a cute kid? After all, he was such a good boy….
That good boy grew up into a good man. Colter signed up for the police academy directly out of high school, and did quite well in his training. Always got top marks, and generally got the reputation of a good student. When he graduated training, he was hired onto the police force in his hometown. Then he met Rebecca Britain. Their meeting was entirely accidental and he lost his heart almost immediately.
She had been diagnosed with cancer, however. To her surprise, Colt laughed a little and said “Is that all?” In his opinion, it was ALWAYS a matter of time, terminally ill or not. His attitude was infectious and soon they were both suggesting the most preposterous things to fill her time with. His suggestion of “marriage” was countered with “climbing Mt. Everest” before he stopped her and told her he was serious. They both cared a great deal for each other…why not get married? Within minutes, he had her laughing acceptance, and within minutes of that, they were racing for his parents' house. His father married them in the middle of the night, with his mother and neighbor as witnesses.
Thus began one of the most interesting times of Colter’s life. He and Rebecca were ridiculously happy. Anytime work would let him, he took her places and let her experience as much life as she could. Despite previous habits, he didn’t even think about getting bored and straying. Instead, he’d find new ways to make it interesting. A little over a year and a half after their hasty wedding, she passed on. Despite her fears, it wasn’t a mournful time. Colt had her smiling and laughing until the end.
That was also the night he met Ramiel and his life changed forever.
Ramiel was an angel of the Lord. Unlike many of his brethren, he did not serve in a garrison. Instead, he was given the task of sending prophets their visions. The book of Revelation? Pretty much his Sistine Chapel. He served in that capacity since the dawn of mankind, and had, thus far, never needed a vessel. He went about his business invisibly, or among only the angels. But it was not to be so easy for forever.
War was coming. Ramiel knew it; how could he not with the visions he was sending the Prophet Chuck? Lucifer would be freed and the apocalypse would begin and all the forces of Heaven would be required. So he approached Colter Young with a proposition. He needed a human vessel, and Colter was perfect. He was a man of God. He was a warrior. He no longer had ties. It took several days to convince him, but Colter consented in the end. An so, Ramiel was ready for the war.
Only, then the Winchesters changed what he caused the prophet to write. THAT was more than a little annoying; it kind of defeated the point of revelation if people were just going to muck it up. Ramiel still has no idea how they managed it, but eventually decided there must be some flaw they possessed that made them able to have done so. Unfortunately, this also meant the apocalypse was off. Though he had certainly not wanted to cause the humans all the distress of one, it was God's plan. And Ramiel was not built for disobedience. So when his brothers Raphael and Castiel became clear front runners in the discord that sprang up amongst the angels, he threw his lot in with Raphael. He quickly distinguished himself as a good fighter and reliable ally and moved up the ranks. I SURE DON'T MIND A CHANGE 'CAUSE I FELL ON BLACK DAYS • • •Member Title: Thunder of God • • •RP Sample: “Is it really that difficult to follow a plan someone other than you concocted?” Ramiel asked, glowering as his companion lectured him about his manners. “Forget manners,” he said. “If you had any, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.” His companion, another angel he was meant to be working with in an attempt to get their hands on an important rebel, snarked back that this was hardly her fault. He was the one who had rushed into the situation half cocked and messed up a simple snatch and grab.
“My fault?,” Ramiel said angrily, rising from his seat suddenly. He leaned forward, propping his fists on the hard wooden surface of the desk between them. “I had a plan. You're the one who messed this up.” Leave it to Ramiel to turn this into a bickering contest. There were really more important things to discuss than who had been at fault. Like maybe figuring out another plan before Raphael learned they had failed and got around to doling out punishments. The angel straightened and, crossing his arms, listened to Lenora rant about his actions some more.
“My actions?” Ramiel answered incredulously. “You left me without back up in a hostile environment. You’re refusal to comply with such a simple plan could have gotten me killed, Lenora. Did you think about that at all when you decided to stay put instead of following me in? Since I’m assuming you didn’t have any problem understanding such a cunning plan as “everyone on the count of three.”
Ramiel shook his head. “It was thoughtless. Did it also not occur to you that I wanted us both in there for a reason?” he asked, frowning. “If that rebel had gone out your exit, with you unprepared and lacking back up, he could have easily killed you. One or both of us could have easily lost our lives tonight because of your stunt. And while you might be too pissed off to give a shit about my fate, I wouldn’t have been able to live with myself if it had been you.” His expression softened and he ran a hand over his face in a very human attempt to pull himself together. He wasn't one that was long to anger, and he could already feel its fire fizzling out.
“All right, let's just take a step back and consider our options here,” he decided. “This is not an unsalvagable situation. The rebel may have gotten away, but we've forced him out of hiding and can get a lock on him now. I'm sure between us, we can come up with a plan that will lead to his capture.” He offered his companion a smile, then turned his attention to locating his rebel brother.
