Last week saw the "debut" of Paul Burchill in the ring as a Pirate, and despite initial feelings that it would suck was quite surprised.Thought him and Regal pulled off a good match, plus his finisher wasnt bad either.
Problem is the Smackdown crowd is always over dubbed,so couldnt really tell how he fared with Joe Public.Although they did look like they were sat on their hands sad.gif
Anyway, what do you all think of the new look Burchill. Is he destined to better things? (ie mid-card) or is he going to be the new King of Heat?

I'm hoping that he'll establish himself and get over - as you say, it's difficult to tell how into him the crowd are, because of the dubbed cheers.

But, done well, he could be good. He needs to be very jokey and funny; but vicious when he needs to be.

The key with him, I feel, is to get him in a fued with someone people dislike a lot - not too high up, but someone who he will benefit from being put over by.

Great finisher.

I think the out of ring segments have only really worked because Regal is comedy gold. What I dont want to see is him being "fed" to Lashley/Finlay just to highlight their dominance.
I think Burchill and Ken Kennedy could be a good feud, but I guess only time will tell.

I wasnt sure at first about Burchill becoming a pirate but i'm taking to the idea now. I thought his match with Regal went really well. Loved his entrance coming out on the rope. I think the fans will take to him, not sure who he could have a good fued with yet. Mr Kennedy would work a treat I feel but he is still out of the game for a while I believe...Burchills finisher is indeed awesome.

Burchill has shown the charisma to get over in this semi-comedy role, while the role still allows him to be a wrestler at heart, so in time he can get over his big moves like the C4 finisher.

The match with Regal was awesome I thought.

I thought of a fued with Kennedy - in some ways, that'd be great; but I feel Kennedy is too popular. I think, in order to establish himself and get over properly, Burchill needs to fued with someone pretty much universally disliked . . . I just can't think of an appropriate opponent!

In theory, yes - but JBL is too high up on the card, I feel.

If he was drafted to RAW in the post WrestleMania Lottery; I think he could fued with someone like Carlito, or Chris Masters...?

Didn't he have a kneee injury? On TV, Mark Henry 'put him out' I think. Speaking of which, I thought Chris Benoit was due back soon...

Ok, Benoit has been awesome over the years but has anyone really missed him that much since he has been off recently?

His stuff was kind of going a bit stale imo....he needs a new change of direction imo....

As for Burchill......I believe he wont be coming back with the pirate gimmick....???

Shame...I found it pretty amusing....loved his entrance....hehe...but he was never really going to get that far with it was he...so maybe it is for the best...
